Bridgerton: Old Friends (2024)
A strong ending to part one!
Despite the over-stocked subplots this season, this first part as a whole has been fiercely enjoyable. This final episode before the break blew me away! The chemistry between the two leads is both intense yet incredibly sweet and genuine, so much so, that at times I felt like I was intruding. The carriage scene in particular will go down as an iconic moment of the show, and it's one that I have (shamefully) replayed over and over again.
I can't wait to see how Colin and Penelope's dynamic grows moving into the second half of the season, which will be undoubtedly intense with the ever looming secret of Lady Whistledown hanging over their relationship. My main annoyance is that I have to now wait an entire month to get the full story. Damn you Netflix!
Willow (2022)
Slow to start, but a fun fantasy romp for all.
I grew to love this show, despite it's flaws because overall, it's just plain fun. It definitely took a while to find it's groove, but I was finding myself smiling more and more as the episodes went on. The finale two episodes were just visually stunning, and by the end I was really loving this little ragtag group of misfit adventurers, particularly Graydon and Boorman, who offer the most humor to the show. It's not going to be for everyone, but I think it captures the lighthearted fun of the original and builds upon the lore nicely. It has a lot of potential to be a real classic, and definitely one I will be coming back to time and again. Hoping DisneyPlus gives us the next two volumes!
Good Morning-Call: Guddo môningu kôru (2016)
Fantastic and Absorbing series!
A hugely enjoyable series depicting the trails and tribulations of a slow burning romance between two Japanese high school students. I started watching it on a whim and was not disappointed. This series is addicting. The two main leads have sparkling chemistry, I found myself immediately drawn to them. Their characters are opposites in every sense of the word, but boy, do they work well together. There's also a perfect blend of witty, upbeat humor mixed with tear inducing emotional turmoil (had me reaching for tissues on a number of occasions!) Although not a 'grand' drama in its scale, it does extremely well with immersing the viewer with interconnecting plot lines, engaging characters and strong dialogue. 10/10 it's a definitely a must-see!
