Ride (2018)
The best ride is in the viewing!!!
This film far surpassed my expectations! I half expected a typical sappy, bad boy goes good, making lemonade out of lemons movie with little real substance. Thankfully I watched and was amazed at the honesty and raw emotion depicted here, even when dealing with issues like race and child abuse. The underlying story of the main characters was developed without some grand eye opening Ah Ha moment. Just a beautifully told, true story. You won't regret this ride!
Winter Thaw (2016)
Sobering, uplifting!
John Rhys Davies gives a magnificent portrayal of a lonely, repentant father longing to repair his past mistakes while searching for answers about his own mortality. A splendidly cast film, rich with pathos and hope. What we all need at Christmas and always!
The Crooked E: The Unshredded Truth About Enron (2003)
Harsh reality depicted spot on!
Going in, I was skeptical of a film wholly devoted to bashing the successful American Company allegedly gone rogue. But it didn't take long for me to delve into this expose! Cruver is played brilliantly by a young Christian Kane who takes us on a not so fun joyride chronicling his desire for job success as it rages against his not so lofty dreams for a successful marriage. His portrayal of the naive Cruver, as he morphs into someone he doesn't even recognize, and his ultimate realization of what really matters, is a much needed glimmer of light amidst the dark hole that was Enron.
Christmas Around the Corner (2018)
Beautiful, well acted, poignant!
I bought this one and have watched well over 100 times! Jamie Spilchuk is splendid and his unpretentious style is just so engaging. Alexandra Breckinridge always shines in every role she undertakes. Academy Award winner Jane Alexander is a tour de force as Aunt Mary. Yes, somewhat predictable, but the sweet Dickensian feel of the town and particularly Fortenbury Bookstore gives this sweet film
a real Christmas long gone feel.
Christmas at Graceland (2018)
Nice try. Hallmark!
Let me preface this by saying that I am a FAN of Kelly Pickler...her SINGING that is. Bless her heart for trying, but this was an epic fail. EVERYTHING fails here. Except for Wes Brown. Pickler comes across as awkward and lost. To make matters worse, she is so overdone in makeup! While Kelly is a living doll, she looks much older, and tired. Even her wardrobe, one bright side here which she shines in, can't save Christmas at Graceland. Give us more Ally Leibert, Peter Porte, Josh Kelly, Victor Webster, and PAUL GREEN!!! Now THESE are actors!i
