Go (2007)
Hysterically extravagant and ridiculously entertaining.
I came across this film completely by accident, looking for another film of the same title. Never one to waste an opportunity, especially an accidental one, I viewed and enjoyed every minute of this.
Right from the outset, it's nigh impossible to take anything in this movie seriously. It opens with the revealing of a conspiracy plot which remains the central storyline (around which all other characters' parts are lead) throughout, and then just gets twisted and weird.
The presentation is completely silly, halfway between a serious action film, kind of a haphazard and disorganized James Bond theme, and the frantic, ADHD-targeted style of MTV. Despite being largely about a government plot for control, the film follows a young couple in love who have decided to elope together and inevitably get caught up in the story's grander events.
All in all, it's bright, flashy, very appealing visually, and the story is kept fresh and entertaining through wacky fun, plenty of laughs, and unbelievable characters of downright psychotic demeanors. The action is well-done, although slow-motion is used a little too liberally in a couple of scenes.
I would recommend this to anyone who is bored beyond all reason and looking for an excuse to kill a couple of hours being both entertained and reminded of the more adventurous side of life.
