In Sci-fi, artsy works only if the payoff is great

The sheer amount of lack of common sense from all characters makes anyone frustrated. You can forgive a few plot holes in order to carry on a movie. But when the norm turns into ignoring common sense perpetually, I rather just watch scary movie or any parody film. Every character in this movie takes the Steve Irwin approach. "Look at that crocodile, through millions of years, they have become the pinnacle of predator evolution... I'M GONNA TOUCH IT!" They're right when the say that common sense is the least common of all senses. The ending is not mind blowing at all, this kind of twist has been done before, not only in movies, but other media as TV shows, anime and even cartoons. And with greater success. So please do yourself a favor and look online for any spoiler that will save you from this snooze fest.

Joker (I) (2019)
10/10
As a fan of comics and good cinema, Wow!
11 October 2019
As a lifelong fan of western comics, anime, TV sci-fi and cult & masterpiece movies, this film truly is a historical landmark of cinema. Kudos to Mr. Phoenix and Mr. Phillips, they have achieved something no one else had until now in the superhero genre, true art (Except maybe Nolan's and Ledger's Dark Knight). Superhero-wise, this Joker has been brought to us under an entirely different light. He makes you feel sorry for him, mad at society for having forsaken such a hurt man. Appaled of how the system can abandon a sick and lonely person in the time of most need. Truly despicable are crowds of people who mock a man dressed as a clown with a smile, but who cries inside. A cruel, bitter and tasteless joke this is.

I had higher expectations

Being DC the creator of animated masterpieces like Mask of the Phantasm, Under the Red Hood, Gods and Monsters, the Dark Knight Returns, Crisis on Infinite Earths and a long etc, I was letdown by this. Sure, it had a lot going on, specially the classic animation of the Justice League, the greatest superhero cartoon show only second to the original Batman the animated series. But this was this film's only redeeming quality. I enjoy marvel films on the big screen, and without being a hardcore DC fanboy, I know DC has the best story telling in the supehero genre. Too bad DC hasn't been able to bring that success to the big screen (with a few exceptions like the first classic Superman film and Nolan's Batman trilogy). But animated films were Dc's strongest point. Except this time with this bland film. Not the worst, but very bad in comparison to most of it's predecessors. I don't hate it, but it sure was a letdown not even worth discussing.
