Invasion (2005)
Just when you thought it was safe to back into the water...
This show is refreshing and gripped me like I haven't been gripped for years! Set around the Florida town of Homestead, Invasion follows the aftermath of Hurricane Eve and reveals the fact that there is life on other planets and it is currently taking up residence in the waters on earth. The story follows Russ and Larkin and his ex-wife Mariel and her husband Tom Underlay, the Sheriff of Homestead who has had an experience with the life forms several years ago following a plane crash. It later ensues that he took Mariel into the water thus becoming a hybrid. As time goes on the division between hybrids and non-hybrids grows until there is out and out hostility. I find it difficult to write a review for this show, it has to be seen to be enjoyed, a wonderful cast, a great script, altogether make up one of the most enjoyable shows to be seen on TV for years...and I've just discovered its been cancelled!!
George Wallace (1997)
Change comes through suffering
George Wallace is a wonderful piece of cinema portraying the life of the politician who became Governor of the state of Alabama. The film starts with a campaign and ends with repentance, showing how suffering can change a man. Intertwined with news features from the time and capturing moments like the Selma march and Martin Luther King and his "dream" speech, the film portrays life in this turbulent period of American history to perfection. For lovers of political dramas this is an excellent film, starring the excellent Gary Sinise as Wallace for which he won an Emmy and directed by John Frankenheimer. The film also stars Angelina Jolie and Joe Don Baker.
