Engaging topic/Engaging Movie

I will just agree with most of the positive reviews of this movie, but I wanted to set one fact straight.

When they show scenes of the "authorities" spraying water on the protesters, it was actually about -40F at the time. The water would have literally frozen in mid air as it hit the protestors. And when it did hit them it would have been instant hypothermia.

And if you think that the US isn't a police state, you are wrong.

These protestors would brutalized. I hope that the perpetrators got the maximum sentence allowed.

Exposing the Rot
3 June 2023
A good example of how the american police and federal officers have become a bunch of fascists.

Breaching basic human rights and violating all norms of investigation, an insurrection in search of a crime.

Supposed FBI agents violate every know norm for crime scene policy, blatantly ignoring the law at every turn.

One can only imagine how the cases of Assange and Snowdon were tainted by these bastards. They will stop at nothing to further their crimes against humanity.

How many people in the US have been railroad by bogus crimes into prisons in the US, which has the highest rate of incarceration in the world.

Democracy my arse. More like rule by violent dictators.

Painful to Watch
28 March 2023
This was painful to watch. It's sad to see how the whole story turned on the militarization of the sky people. That was already pretty much a given.

So this was just a bunch of military carnage of indigenous people and endangered species.

Never pleasant on any plane.

It seems the cost and decades long production of this thing really isn't justified. The first one was a masterpiece. This one: not so much.

A Worthy Watch
31 December 2022
I'm sorry to see all the naysayers. This movie is not for everyone. In fact, it reminds me a lot of an acid trip I had back in the 70's. Lots of nazis and other deplorables running around setting things on fire and generally being a pain in the arse.

It's actually a deep dive into your pysche and trying to evoke a response from your slumbering brain.

Bottom line: a good watch, but not for everyone. I would imagine that a lot of triggering imagery would resonate better with the over-60 crowd who grew up in the eighties.

Now I am required to keep on typing even though I already told you what I think.

Cheers and G'day.

A Sad Reminder
1 October 2022
I approached this film with an interest with the title and the premise. I got much more than that.

It was disappointing to see the brevity given to Bill Murray and Russell Crowe's characters. But Zach Efron really did deliver.

This is probably one of the best post-Vietnam War movies to date, delving into the nitty gritty of how it totally destroyed countless lives of families and humans in general, not to mention the environmental damage.

Apocalypse Now brought the horror of the war to the screen as in the napalming of large areas, but it is good to see the depiction of the results of the war on the human bystanders.

And the point is?
25 September 2022
There is not much to say about this film. It is poorly written and the direction isn't much better. I have yet to see exactly what talent it is that Pete Davidson possesses. The whole thing is a hot mess of partying mixed in with a lot of personal arguments.

Watching the first thirty minutes of this film was the perfect capper for a really terrible day that started with the shock of Daylight Savings Time, the most incredible scam ever perpetrated on society. It was all downhill from there, and now this travesty of film making.

I didn't think my day could get any worse until I started watching this and realised that yes, it can.

Definitely Not A Beauty
18 September 2022
What a waste of money and talent. Even the CGI was lame. I would have thought that Idris was above this kind of drivel by now.

Six hundred characters is a lot and I thought that I had actually conceptualized my thoughts on the film succinctly in the review I provided in the first paragraph of this review.

That being said, I still stand by my initial review. Idris was a fool for accepting this part. The pandemic is not over, but there's still no real excuse for churning out stuff like this.

It is amazing that in the waning days of the northern summer, there seems to be a dearth of good movies being released. What a shame.

Great Cinematography but a Litany of Lies
24 July 2022
Although well filmed with some stunning photography, there are many half truths and lies contained in this film, just like most things that come out of Texas.

You get a taste of this early in the film, when the narrator states that the ocelot is near extinction, but is not receiving any help because the ranchers on whose land they reside are afraid of the Endangered Species Act and how it will affect their profits, so they refuse to allow any research or support of any kind. Ignorance is bliss in Texas.

As much as this film deserves kudos for trying to highlight the plight of many vulnerable species in Texas, it will not change the fact that most Texans have no sympathy for any of these species, and will not lift a single finger to do anything that they think will impede their chase after the almighty dollar.

Nothing good ever came out of Texas. Don't expect them to change. Governor Abbott's idiotic policies around "the wall" on the southern border are not only illegal, but have already doomed numerous species to extinction with more to follow. Those species that do not succumb to starvation, dehydration and disease will likely die from another Texas plague: more firearms than any other place on earth.

A Bit Much Spaghetti and Not Enough Sauce
2 July 2022
Please note that first words of the teaser line for this movie is "On the plains of Montana...". If you watched even small parts of this movie, you would quickly realise that there are lots and lots of mountains.

Suffice it to say it goes downhill from there, and turns into a slasher/torture/persecution film with an odd christian bent. Go figure.

Great scenery. That's about all.

As a previous commentator posted:

"In the end, this is little more than just strong religious propaganda."

A wee bit on the preachy side for this atheist.

Don't Waste Your Time
19 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The pre-release hype didn't even come close. This is just bad. Bad acting. Bad cinematography. And how in the world do experienced hunters mistake the growl of a grizzly bear for the noise of a construction crew? The whole thing is totally unbelievable.

A cenmatic nightmare
18 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
While the acting and plot line are great, half of the time the cinematography makes it feel like you are in a rain -soaked, drug induced nightmare.

Some of scenes are so dark, hazy, blurred, and incoherent as to make you dizzy. Framing and cinematic flair are one thing. Much of this just seems like lazy film making.

Goebbels would be proud

It appears the right-wing conspiracy propagandists have somehow managed to obtain an old VHS camcorder.

It won't be long before it comes out that this project was funded by the Orange Menace himself using funds he stole from his "followers."

A Great Western
27 September 2021
What's the problem with some of these self-described "critics"? Great actors, good script, fantastic cinematography and scenery, great score. What more could you ask for? A fun and whimsical movie set in the old west. I found it to be an entertaining watch. Of course, it's no Clockwork Orange, but then many of these "critics" don't even know what Clockwork Orange is, and if they did, they would be blood red with anger claiming that it glorified violence, when it was a treatise on violence in society, perhaps one of the most significant of this century.

Memoir of a Mentally Challenged Cowboy
2 September 2021
An interesting re-telling of the 9/11 story, but it seemed to maintain that the decisions made by Bush and Cheney somehow justified their actions. In reality, their entire circle of war hawks were nothing more than a cabal of bumbling idiots whose "war on terror" spanned 20+ years and cost US$2.2 trillion dollars. Seems like that money could have provided health care for the entire country for more than 20 years. Go figure.

Gawd was this a boring film. More of the same pandemic pablum that's been fed to us for months now. Sorry to see big name stars attaching their names to this kind of film. I would definitely not pay to see this.

Fall of the Insurecctors

Is this for real? It seems like more of right-wing wet dream than an actual piece of cinema. What is it with these white supremacists? They are all doomed to failure so there's no sense in giving them any more oxygen. Sweet dreams.

Why did I waste my time on this? Boredom? Probably. Some great visuals but the plot was pretty much unbelievable. Corny pandemic fare at best.

Russell Crowe is great as always, but if someone like this stole your phone wouldn't the first thing you did would be to call up the provider and cut off the account? Lots of action but the substance is somewhat lacking.

Modern Day Monstrocity
30 July 2019
While the CGI and monster battle scenes were good, the idea that using nuclear weapons to solve a problem seems to be made trivial. Even the monsters are radioactive. Don't the screenwriters realise that it means death to any human who is even close??? Although this appears to be an end-of-world tale, it's sad that it's the humans who pull the trigger. Great CGI, poor story line. Not to mention the "Titans" will probably appear in endless, mind-numbing sequels.

There sure are a bunch of racist trolls on this site, who are not to be believed. How they get past the monitors at IMDB is a mystery, as they would get the boot on any other major site.

This is a great movie. Don't believe the MAGA trolls. Give a stupid person a computer and you get the ultimate computer conundrum: garbage in, garbage out. Any film that triggers the bigots and racists in the US deserves a 10.
