Will Trent: Do You See the Vision? (2024)
Season 2, Episode 10
1/10
Lesson on how to destroy a character in seconds
22 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was great up until the very end. The ending turned an 8-star episode into a 1-star episode. It's that bad.

Will Trent betrays the love of his life without first talking to her to get her side of the story. My wife and I were so disgusted by this that we will not watch this again. There's no way the writers can recover from this. Viewers have to like the protagonist to keep watching. I don't care what happens to Will at this point. The series started with Will being an astute and intuitive detective and now he's hallucinating and a disloyal friend.

Maybe the bet wasn't if the writers could kill a show in one episode. Maybe they're so full of hubris that they bet they can recover. They can't. They killed all respect for Will Trent.

Walker: Independence (2022–2023)
10/10
A compelling storyline worth following.
29 October 2022
I don't like Walker at all, but since I'm a huge fan of westerns, I thought I would give this series a shot. I also hated Yellowstone but loved 1883. My biggest concern is that CW shows tend to have contrived and overtly political stories. I'm a big fan of strong, female characters, that are badass and still believable. Hannie Caulder comes to mind. This show has that in spades. The male characters are great, too. They're not portrayed as bumbling idiots.

My wife and I watched the first episode and couldn't stop until there were no more to watch. 4 episodes. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hope they don't ruin the show like they did with The Flash and Supergirl.

The Resident: One Bullet (2022)
Season 6, Episode 3
3/10
This episode was absurd.
11 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
While trying to make some sort of political statement, the writers have completely gone off the deep end. The episode starts with Kade and Conrad finding a gunshot victim, so they rush him to the hospital in their own car. Rather than just taking the victim to the nearest ED, they called ahead and were told that the ED couldn't take the patient. This is in clear violation of the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act, a federal law making it illegal for ERs to turn people away.

They then put up a counter of the number of health care workers needed for the patient trying to highlight the expense of gun violence. The grand total was 100, which was absurd.

Padma was scheduled to have a c-section and started to have complications that required blood. Unfortunately, all of the AB- blood was used up by the gunshot victim. This was obviously going to happen, yet no one seemed to ensure that there was enough blood for Padme. C-sections aren't trivial.

The world they have been trying to portray in the last few episodes does not exist. They're building strawmen. I loved this show but am getting ready to scrap it. I can deal with politics based in reality but am offended total fiction.

Season is off to a good start, but...
1 October 2022
Writers really need to be mindful about the fact that laws vary from state to state. Montana does not have gun registration or gun licensing. It's annoying when writers just assume that every state has the same gun laws from where they live. It's a sign of laziness in their writing.

I'm really enjoying the addition of Jensen Ackles as the sheriff. It's almost like having Sheriff Dean Winchester, which is a good thing. He's added some much needed humor and charm to the series.

Reba. McEntire is also a great addition to the cast. Her character's story arc is definitely worth sticking around to watch.

I'm also enjoying where they're going with. Tonya (Jamie Lynn Sigler) and Donno's (Ryan O'Nan) characters.

New Amsterdam: Safe Enough (2021)
Season 3, Episode 3
1/10
Medical misinformation at its worst
19 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I really enjoy this show. It's been very entertaining since it first aired. Overall, I would give it an 8. I really like it. I do, however, need to give this episode just one star for the dangerous information included in this episode.

The information presented about adult onset (type 2) diabetes is so wrong, it could be dangerous. Dangerous because people who suspect they may have diabetes will be frightened away from getting diagnosed and seeking treatment.

First, maybe Max could figure out Floyd's mother had diabetes from a CT scan, but I'm certain that they would follow up with an A1C test to confirm. There was no mention of such a test, nor even what her actual blood sugar was.

Second, type 2 diabetes is NOT usually caused by your pancreas not producing insulin. It's usually caused by a resistance to insulin. The very first treatment would most likely be a change to a low carb diet, and possibly a drug like Metformin. They would NOT put you on insulin right away. That would be a last resort since adding insulin just helps grow more fat which increases insulin resistance. A

Third, AND THAT EFFING NEEDLE!!! That isn't even close to what a real insulin syringe would look like, nor the bottle of insulin. A 1 CC syringe can hold 100 units of regular insulin. Some insulin is less diluted and could hold 300 units per CC. My syringes have an 8mm (5/16 of an inch) needle that is super thin. If Floyd's Mom's dose was 2.5 units, she'd be using as small a syringe as possible. They'd likely equip her with an insulin pen, not a syringe for such small amounts.

Fourth, it takes years of high blood sugar to cause any sort of neuropathy. Maybe she did have it for years, but I really doubt her doctor son wouldn't have noticed the symptoms. He's a black doctor, too, and would know that diabetes is prevalent among black people.

New Amsterdam isn't the only show that gets it wrong. Most do. It really needs to stop. It's dangerous.

As far as COVID goes, I think there should be a new type of syndrome called Frontline Workers Syndrome. It's caused when the workers are exposed to extremes which then causes them to have an extreme view of the world instead of seeing what's real. Hospital workers will see the most extreme cases of COVID. They will not see all of the people who don't get it at all or have very mild cases. Cops have the same problem. They get called to scenes of extreme violence. That violence feeds a distorted view of people which can lead to them overreacting to situations.

Still Entertaining
2 March 2021
I watched this when it was first on TV back in 1984. I had fond memories of it so I did a quick search and found it on YouTube. My wife and I watched it to see if it holds up and it did. It's quite entertaining. There's a lot of embellishment to make it more entertaining, but it's in good fun. If you like history, track and field sports, and have a sense of humor, this is well worth watching. You'll definitely spend some time looking up the real history after you watch which is always a good thing.

Walker Texas Ranger reincarnated as The Gilmore Girls
7 February 2021
There's nothing about the episodes that leave you wanting to know what's coming next except maybe the first one. The reasons to bring you back for episode 2 were wrapped up in an inconsequential way. This episode was easily the most interesting and that's not saying a lot. You start watching expecting a crime/action show and get Gilmore Girl plots. People loved the Gilmore Girls, but I doubt there is much of an intersection between people who like action adventure shows and family melodramas.
