Minecraft (2009)
The most amazing sandbox game ever has arrived
Wow, where to begin. Minecraft is possibly one of the best video games I have ever played, it challenges you to build, craft and fight after you become stranded on an almost infinite terrain named by you. Using whatever you can find (trees, stone, dirt) you have to build a shelter to defend yourself against the dangers of the night (like skeletons, zombies, spiders and Creepers). Of course, if you're a first time player, your first house will probably be a little hut made of dirt, for some players, who devote their lives to this game, it will be a massive sprawling mansion with a swimming pool and an en-suite bathroom. Anyone can make that, because when morning arises, you have about 7 minutes(real time) to gather supplies or add to your house. The crafting interface is that of genius, using a 4 by 4 table, you arrange items to craft swords, axes or different blocks. The game is simply amazing, and I would recommend it to anyone who loves sandbox games, be because if you are one of those people, this will be the best video game you ever play. 10/10
Johnny Test (2005)
Genuinely Insulting to TV
This show has so many bad things about it that they wouldn't fit into this review. So I'll keep it short.First off. Dexter's Lab called; they want their TV show back. It is basically Dexter's Lab with a different character cast. Second of all, the thing that bugs me the most, the theme tune. Where have I heard this before I think to myself... American Idiot of course!! And third and final of all is the character lineup. Dukey is passable as an OK character, the rest of the cast (especially Bling Bling Boy, yuck) are complete poppycock. Johnny is depicted as a typical 11 year old that skateboards, hates girls and plays video games. Ugh. It is really cool that Susan and Mary are lab geniuses though, not the type of girl that does their nails and hair and watches boys taking their top off (like it seems most girls are in TV shows nowadays.) Overall, worst show on Cartoon Network. CN, take it off for the safety of your marketing. Seriously. NO-ONE LIKES THIS SHOW!!
The Amazing World of Gumball (2011)
Watch it. No questions, just watch it
After previously watching the pilot on YouTube, I was amazed by it I thought the mix of 2d and 3d was amazing, and I have never seen any other TV show do that, to my knowledge of course. And then a couple of months later, I found out it was a Cartoon Network series and was eager to watch it. After watching my first episode(The DVD), I was speechless and desperately wanted to watch more. Sadly though, the only way to get it is in dollars on DVD, so I am still waiting for a UK DVD release. But back to the subject. This show is amazing. Acting, story, Characters. All of it. Just bonkers. I'll begin with the acting and characters. Logan Grove and Kwesi Boyoake as the unforgettable duo Gumball and Darwin Watterson. They go together like butter and toast, just those two alone could teach kids a valuable lesson about friendship. I only dread the day when Kwesi Boyoake's voice breaks.
And the storyline. P.E.R.F.E.C.T. Every episode differs in jokes and story lines, so you never get bored of an episode. Unless its a repeat.
Overall 10/10, amazing
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 (2013)
Cloudy with A Chance of Awesome
This movie is in a word, amazing. It may not have as much comedy as the first movie and have the frequent childish joke ("I'm gonna cut the cheese") but that doesn't ruin the film, because some of them are quite funny ("There's a leek in the boat"). The casting of this film really makes it better. Neil Patrick Harris as Steve the monkey is hilarious And obviously Bill Hader and Anna Faris make a great team. A bit disappointed that Mr.T didn't reprise his role as Earl but meh. The only acting that I thought was weak was Kristen Schaal as Barb the ape. But overall, this movie gets a 9/10 for cool storyline with an interesting twist but the occasional bad actor here and there. But that happens in any film. Definite cinema trip if you like animated comedy.
Regular Show (2010)
Cartoon Network at its best
After normally skipping this show on CN to watch things like Adventure Time and Gumball, one day I began to get quite bored of watching the same 3 Adventure Time episodes over and over (the episodes being 'Her Parents', 'From Bad To Worse' and 'Mystery Train'), I finally thought 'why not' and watched Regular Show. And I realised what I was missing. In a word 'Great'. Regular Show combines silly humour and fart jokes with the sort of comedy that makes you think "what the heck is happening here". J.G Quintel has made a masterpiece. The only downside I have to this show is that some episodes (Like 'Jinx' and 'But we have a receipt') are really not for kids, for example, in the episode'Jinx' one of the main characters (Mordocai) Jinxes his friend Rigby and the entire plot line of the episode is Rigby trying to find ways to unjinx himself, which seems OK, until the end. One of the other main characters (Muscle Man) tricks Rigby into thinking that he can write his name backwards on a mirror to unjinx himself, so of course he try's it, only for a dark demented creature to come flying out of the mirror, almost killing Rigby, what follows may be quite disturbing for kids. But apart from that, an amazing TV show. 10/10
Adventure Time (2010)
The Best show on TV
Not too long ago, I watched Adventure Time in Italian on holiday and didn't really get what was going on. But about 5 months later, after watching 1 episode in English, it immediately became my favourite TV show. Jeremy Shanda and John DiMaggio fit the voices of Finn and Jake perfectly, the wacky storyline and the cast of unforgettable characters really put this show at Cartoon Network's best. If CN continue to make such amazing TV shows, they will go a long way in the TV business. In my opinion, if you haven't watched Adventure Time, you haven't watched TV
A must-see, definitely up there with The Amazing World of Gumball and Regular Show
