Leave the World Behind (2023)
There is only one questiion here.......
Why the hell did I watch this?
It started off nicely, but right after the tanker crashed on the beach (which leaves a lot to be said about the captain of the vessel), strange things started to happen randomly:
Deer appeared out of nowhere just staring at the littloe girl
Flamingoes landed in the pool
Piercing noices where heard and....
The boy's teeth started to fall.
This led to many speculations! Aliens, Koreans, Chinese, (the most absurt) Arabs, something from the other side.
Plot holes the size of an island started to appear also.
The boy is given medication from a building contractor / survivalist who knows of microwave weapons and their effects.
The deer become bold enough to gather en mass and their leader (!) stared down at two unarmed women who keep shouting until the deer flee, obviously from boredome!
The black guy, after the enlighting meeting with the contractor, understands the nature of the crisis and does nothing.
And the little girl, finds the last episode of Friends.
And the END.
All things considered, it was a boring movie, the cast wasted on a scenario presented in many occasions, and badly at that.
I'd say, DONT WATCH. But what do I know.
The X-Files: Re-Opened (2015)
No thanks
The minute I heard it was to be aired, I waited for it with anticipation. To be honest I don't know why! I was never a huge fan of X Files, but there were episodes I found stimulating and above all fun to look at. So there it is, an 8 episode come back. I sat down to watch the first two episodes, and then anticipation turned to boredom, then horror. Eventually I stopped watching. Mostly because the plot was (is I should say) childish and simple to the point of stupidity. Oh yes, the bad government...and like conspiracies arise where none was needed. And then there was the acting! Or the absolute lack of it! I couldn't stand the way Douchovny played the part, it felt as if someone was twisting his arm into the series, not just to sign-in, but all through the episodes themselves. Thank you so much, I think I'll pass
Sleepy Hollow (2013)
Very Sleepy Hollow indeed
The reviewer was absolutely correct. After the first installment, I could hardly wait to see the next one. And to that extent, thus ended our relationship with the series. It became so dull and predictable, so "already seen so many times" that we (the family and myself that is) wondered if someone else wrote the second episode. The all time classic of using the English guy with his archaic dialect as opposed to the use of slang from the local policemen and women is, of course, all time classic but it hardly adds anything new to the character of Ichabod. I should say that I very much prefer the timid, phobic Ichabod of Johny Depp, than this. And of course, I very much laugh with the very naive attitude of the average American writer/producer/director against the occult, or the unreal, that it is being treated as so "natural". Bearing in mind that Ichabod Crain was born and died in the mid 1700's, his ability to adopt in the 21st century technological "miracles" was, to say the least "admirable" but still laughable.Every normal person would have registered a little bit of fear for the "horseless carriages" or wonder for the "communication devices". It is not BAD as such. But I wouldn't sit-up and wait for it anymore.
