Argylle (2024)
Good action movie
The one thing you need to do before you even sit down (or even buy a ticket) is to suspend your disbelief. If you are expecting James Bond or Mission Impossible, then save your money. Likewise, if you're expecting to see Henry Cavill or John Cena in the majority of the scenes, you'll be disappointed.
The story centers around Elly Conway, a writer who writes spy novels. To her, it just comes naturally and people love her books, following Agent Argylle's adventures. Unbeknownst to her, what she's writing mirrors events in real life and she's soon taken away into real life spy adventures.
Everything will be explained in the middle of the movie as to why they want Elly.
There is one scene towards the end that had me shake my head, but, like I said in the beginning, I had to suspend my disbelief and just enjoy the film, which I did.
So if you like satirical spy movies, give this one a go.
Sublime (2022)
A good movie
Manuel and Felipe are best friends and they are in a band together. A good portion of the movie shows the band rehearsing. While Felipe is straight, Manuel is gay and in love with Felipe but he hasn't come out of the closet and he doesn't dare to tell Felipe how he really feels. Manuel does dream of sleeping with Felipe, which is shown in clips. The two friends do have an old Volkswagen van in the woods where they take their girlfriends to sleep with them.
One day, Felipe tells Manuel that he is going to take his girlfriend to the van. Manuel is jealous and he goes to the van and wrecks it by taking the seats and bed out. When Felipe sees this, he thinks that some vandals did it, but Manuel comes clean and tells Felipe. When Felipe gets angry and asks him why he did it, Manuel confesses that he's in love with him. Manuel walks away and Felipe sits to ponder the situation.
There are two scenes that I thought were sweet. The first is when Felipe, who is no longer angry with Manuel, tells Manuel that he's sorry that he never realized how much Manuel loves him and that it's been hurting him to keep it inside. He then gives Manuel a hug.
The second is in the end, when the two go to the beach and they play soccer with their friends. Felipe gives Manuel a kiss on the lips and smiles at him, telling him, non-verbally that everything is fine between them.
I really enjoyed this film and I will definitely watch it a few times.
Dragons: The Nine Realms (2021)
Great series
She I discovered this series on Hulu, I didn't care about the quality of the animation. I only watched it because I've loved the original trilogy and several of the spinoffs, including Race to the Edge series. Despite all the negative reviews on here, I still enjoyed the story line.
Season 8 (which is now on Hulu and looks to be the final season) wraps things up the same way HTTYD 3 wrapped it up.
Season 8 also made you feel for the characters, especially Tom, who tries his best despite making mistakes along the way. In the end, he finds out who he truly is and he realizes that he can't do it by himself. He needs the rest of the dragon riders and his mom to guide him. Eugene proves that, despite his hard and sarcastic exterior, he does care.
The Magic Flute (2022)
One of my favourite films
I've always liked opera and The Magic Flute is one of my favourites.
You don't have to love the opera The Magic Flute, but it helps. I got goosebumps every time I heard the arias. The cast was great.
Jack Wolfe was great as Tim Walker and, during one of the scenes, he really did an awesome job showing his emotional pain.
Of course, they had to modify the opera by taking out some parts, modifying the location, or adapting it to the main movie storyline, otherwise the movie would run close to 3 and a half hours. They did a great job otherwise.
If they decide to release this in more theaters, I will definitely see it again.
I hope that they release this in DVD or Blu-Ray so I can watch it again and again.
Anne (2017)
It's a good series but....
I've never read the books but I wanted to see what the hype is about since Netflix recommended it to me. I do like it except for Anne. She just talks too much in my opinion and can be annoying. I don't know whether she has ADHD or autistic or it's just that she's so excited about everything that she needs to talk. All the other characters, especially Diana, Gilbert, Jerry, Matthew and Marilla are fine and the story line is okay. I'm up to season 2 episode 3. Other reviews find the politics annoying, but I haven't noticed. I was just paying attention to the story line. I guess I'll continue watching it.
The Hardy Boys (2020)
Good update
While I didn't watch too many episodes of the original Hardy Boys, I thought this was a good update. I know those who watched all of the original don't think so, but it was still good to binge watch.
The Hardy Boys and their dad moved to Bridgeport to live with their Aunt Trudy after what appears to be their mother's death.
I got hooked on season one and season two ends on a cliffhanger which makes.me think that there will be a season 3 (at least I hope so since I was kind of bothered with the ending).

Akron (2015)
Good storyline for the most part
I just discovered this movie and, for the most part, I enjoyed it. I loved the two lead characters, Benny and Christopher and how they fell in love almost instantly.
Unbeknownst to them (until the middle of the movie), they shared a common past. Benny had an older brother who was accidentally killed when Christopher's mother hit him in a supermarket parking lot when Benny, David (Benny's brother), and Christopher were still young kids.
Years later, the two meet in college and developed a relationship. When they were about to go on spring break, Christopher comes over to Benny's house and sees a picture of who he thought was a young Benny. Benny's mother explains it's David, who has died. Christopher then realizes the awful truth and he feels uncomfortable, but he didn't want to spoil the spring break for Benny and they head down to Christopher's mother's house, where Christopher's mom finds out Benny's last name and realizes the awful truth and she confesses to Benny.
I'm going to fast forward at this point. Christopher's mother (Carol) tries to make amends by visiting Akron to visit David's grave and Benny's mom, hoping that she will forgive her. Predictably, she does not, and this is the part that kind of gets me because, even though she may not be able to forgive Carol, she should at least not prevent Benny from being friends with Christopher.
Otherwise, it is a very enjoyable movie.
Love, Victor (2020)
Good series
I liked Love, Simon and I liked the storyline for Love, Victor for the most part. The characters were pretty much what you'd find in a high school. If you haven't seen the show, then don't read further.
I could definitely relate to Felix because that was me pretty much from elementary school to High School. There were a couple of things I would definitely change if I were the writers. One is they should have explored what would have happened if Victor didn't run out after kissing Benji. The second is I think Victor should have had the courage to tell Mia his true feelings after telling Felix.
Overall though, it was a good storyline. I loved the speech Simon gave Victor in New York City. I wish I had people like Felix, Simon, and Bram in my corner even now.
Looking forward to see what they will do with season two.
