Along Came Polly (2004)
Great Fun!! Totally Underrated
Although i never really related to Ben Stiller's character, who needs to, this film is great fun. Aniston puts in a good performance, and Seymour Hoffman steals the show as the dating guide / best friend to Stiller's risk assessor main character (pretty much the same character as Gaylord Focker from meet the parents).
his film requires little thought, but it is always good to sit back and enjoy a film that is just plain stupid, and this makes u laugh like a Hyena in places.
An ideal time filler, or a Rom-Com for guys who wish to woo!! Enjoy.....
Rollerball (1975)
Totallitarian society, controlled by Corperations
If Orwell had been a sports fan, this is the type of story that he would have created, in fact this could ave been the love-child of Orwell and Philip K Dick........... Enough of the affairs of men, visually this really feels like a 2001: Space Odessey-esquire continuation, with the wonderful sets, the liquid computer which misplaces entire centuries of Data, and will not explain why all society is controlled by corporations who control every aspect of life, and do not allow or expect man to question why. Man Has forgone questioning 'WHY', for the comfort that has been afforded to everyone on earth, and has even forgotten to question it, that is until Jonathan E comes to the fore, in a game which was created to show to mankind that individual brilliance is futile. This film truly is magnificent with beautiful imagery, and a gore-fest to attract the male audience. There arn't that many films anymore which have this tone, which is a pity!
Murder by Death (1976)
Silly Films
I will make myself out to be a lover of films with absolutely no point, i especially love this film. The cast alone should make this a film on everyones watch list, never before has so much quality been brought together on one screen. Peter Sellars, at the height of his comic brilliance. Sir Alec Guiness, brilliant in any role, a credit to English acting, possibly the greatest ever actor. David Niven is a brilliant actor, then there are the other roles filletted out with the likes of Dame Maggie Smith, James Coco, Peter Falk, i could go on but i am running out of superlatives to describe the talent on view.
The film itself is a pastiche of great detectives brought together to prove, who is the greatest? Added to the good script the talent of the actors, i am surprised the IMDb has rated this film so low, but i must accept that there are people on this earth, though inferior to me who are allowed to vote.
Watch it, it is worth it.
