The Interplanetary Surplus Male and Amazon Women of Outer Space (2003)
Excellent SciFi Fun Movie
The Interplanetary Surplus Male And Amazon Women From Outer Space combines the best of two worlds. A world of confusing footage, presumably shot by Edward Davis Wood, Jr. in the 1950's as Amazon Women From Outer Space and today's world of green/blue screens, computers and digital restoration to create the Interplanetary Surplus Male part.
Edward Davis Wood, Jr. a genius of the low budget, 'B' exploitation movies of the 1950's never finished Amazon Women and the footage was lost after his death. Found in a vault and believed to be the lost Amazon Women the footage was restored, and married to a new script with tons of special effects and a completed movie emerged in 2003. This movie is a throwback to the drive in thrillers of the 1950's and 60's with low budget sets, dialog that sometimes goes it's own way and special effects that may not be up to big budget standards.
The movie "hero" Dr. Harvey Kirk, a physics professor has a character flaw that keeps him in hot water with his wife. Due to this flaw amazon women from outer space visit him and rock his world. If you are a lover of SciFi 'B' movies from years past you will love this one. It has it all, flying saucers, a pit with a monster, amazon women and a cool ending.
Crossroad Avenger: The Adventures of the Tucson Kid (1953)
Ed Wood's Western Serial Attempt, Not Bad
Crossroad Avenger is actually very good, with a good story line, decent acting by some longtime bit part actors who were nearing the end of their careers. I even found the name "Tucson Kid" very original, especially when given to a insurance investigator. Crossroad Avenger has a good story line, logical plot and bad guys with black hats, our hero wears a white hat in keeping with the trend. Ed Wood should have gotten a break on this one with the networks, it just might have made it on TV given a slightly bigger budget.
This is actually as good as some other shows that made it on TV in the early 1950's and better than some cowboy movies of the era. It's worth a tasty beverage and some munchies.
