Gaslit (2022)
Outstanding mini-series
Top notch across the board. Robbie Pickering and the writing team really crafted a character series sewed together with history we are all familiar with, but not straying too far out of bounds. Matt Ross's directing is superb. His shot selection and coverage is top shelf. The other departments were of equal quality as well- editing, cinematography, production design (especially), props, writing (dialogue!), acting (the nuance the actors brough really added something special), archival footage, sound, score, etc. If Hollywood produced more programming of this quality, the viewing public would be eating out of their hands. Thank you, Starz, for this production... keep 'em coming!
Deliver Us (2023)
Really good movie... never slows down.
I saw Deliver Us at this year's Popcorn Frights Film Festival in Miami and loved it! Very well shot (thank you, Isaac Bauman) and edited together, so much so that I didn't find myself the least bit drifting off. Tóti Guðnason's music is the final glue that really fits each scene. Good character acting in each role and my personal favorite was Maria Vera. Without giving away anything, tying in the religious writings helped explain the story. The budget was probably on the low end, but you couldn't tell one bit. All of the departments (camera, set dressing, locations, wardrobe, props) were top notch. Do yourself a favor and see this in a theater to experience the cinematic look and sound Deliver Us... delivers!
It Had to Be You (2015)
Great! Really enjoyed this movie.
Loved the acting and dialogue. Cristin Milioti and Dan Soder are perfect for these roles and really made the characters. Laughed out loud a few times and had a smile on my face from pure enjoyment.
Very believable / relatable and much of the supporting cast is just as good. The twist halfway through is really good and comes from out of nowhere. All of the coverage was there to complete the edit. I never thought something was missing or could have been added.
The pacing is really good and doesn't lag or drag. I found it on Amazon Prime and hope it will say up there for some time. Thank you, Sasha, for this movie. Loved it!
Very much worth watching. Will not disappoint.
Love the Hard Way (2001)
Fantastic!
I turned on the TV late one night and came across this movie and was drawn in until the very end. The complete was enamored by the characters... GREAT chemistry between Jack and Claire. Hats off to Adrian Brody and especially Charlotte Ayanna. This girl needs to REALLY be discovered. The grittiness of NYC was the perfect setting and enhanced by the sharp color contrast look of the movie. The supporting characters added even more to the main characters' development. I'm still thinking about it the day after and telling my friends to go rent it. Simple story, great character development and movement. I found my self really feeling for them... and wanting so much more after it ended. Go check it out!!!
