Fool Me Once (2024)
Good Storyline on paper.
I am normally a fan on Harlan Coben so was excited when I read that this had been made into a series. The cast looked good, strong with the likes of Joanna Lumley and Richard Armitage among the line up and then I read that Michelle Keegan was the lead. Not known for her great acting I gave her the benefit of the doubt and gave it a go. All I can say it was flawed and disappointing. Michelle Keegan should really stick to soap operas. Her acting is wooden along with her one facial expression.
The story had so many plot wholes in it as well as unbelievable story threads. All in all very disappointing. Even the lovely Joanna Lumley couldn't bring a spark to this one.
The Team (2015)
Season 1 OK
Came across this series on Channel 4. The first season was OK. Acting wasn't sparkling but the storyline was gripping. Thought I'd give season 2 a go. Expected to have some loose ends tied up from the last season but only managed half of the first episode. Acting was dire and took an instant dislike to the characters.
Charmed (2018)
Amateur Hour
An hour of drivel and amateur acting. Some shows should never be re-booted and this is one of them. It felt like it was made with a limited budget because the special effects were also terrible. Maybe they should have looked at a follow up to the original, brought back some actors/charectors from the original. Good luck to them for the rest of the series, they are going to need it.
Stitchers: Mind Palace (2017)
Dick Van Dyke school of accents
This show is refreshingly different but this episode was let down by the diabolical British accents. Its not as though America lacks British actors, there's plenty of them over there. At least Emma Ishta has mastered the American accent.
Legion (2010)
Enjoyed the first five minutes.
It was with great anticipation that I armed myself with popcorn and headed into the theatre. The trailer had really taking me in, an angels attempt to save mankind. A great storyline, some good actors, what could possible go wrong. The first five minutes captured my imagination and dragged me in and then it all went horrible wrong. An angel with ammo, no it just wasn't right. Come on now, what's the last thing you do if you want to prove what you are to non believing humans. Of cause, you show them your wings. So why did he chop them off, really not a good idea. I fell in to fits of laughter at the sight of what one could only describe as possessed humans, they looked more like rejects from "30 days of night". When Gabriel come on the seen I had to fight the urge to shout out "gladiators are you ready." I'm afraid even the likes of Paul Bettany and Denis Quaid couldn't save this one. The only thing I like about this film was seeing what such a handsome man Lucus Black had turned in too. If you really want to see, wheel I'd wait for it to come on the TV, and not waist your money.
Dorian Gray (2009)
Dorian Gray-the man-the myth
The movie Dorian Gray is loosely based on Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray, or should I say very loosely. In fact, if you blink, you would miss the only segment in the movie that is any part the same as the book. What should be said is that this is a remake of the 1945 movie staring Angela Lansbury and Hurd Hatfield. If you are a fan of Oscar Wilde's then like me you will be disappointed. It seems to explore Dorian's dark side without regards to the true storyline. If you have never read the book then you will probably enjoy this very dark Gothic story. Ben Barnes's portrayal was excellent. He managed to capture Dorian's dark personalty very well. He's a talented young actor who I'm sure we will see more of.
Twilight (2008)
Fragmented
I was persuaded by my teenage daughter to read the Twilight books as I have been a Vampire nut since I was four, thanks to Hammer House of Horror and Christopher Lee. Stephenie Meyers' books were well written, with a great story line. When my daughter told me that they were making it into a movie I was eager to see how it would transfer to the big screen because usually books to movies don't work very well. I also had my doubts about the choice of actors player the lead parts. The movie was good but not what I had expected. I found it quite fragmented in parts. I think that I would have probably enjoyed it better if I hadn't read the book. The story line was lost a bit and you didn't get the chemistry that was created by Bella and Edward. I know that you can't put everything in the movie but Hardwicke missed out a great deal of the story that would be vital to the forthcoming books/movies. Hardwicke should have included the part fact that Bella doesn't like blood and she completed erased the fact that James held a grudge against Alice and the Cullens. Kirsten Stewert, who I had doubts about, turned out to be a good choice for Bella. The movie I found quite funny in parts. I don't know if this was intended or not. All in all I enjoyed it and will be waiting for the next installments. I just hope that the next director stays true to the books.
