Baby Reindeer (2024)
Jeez
Wowsa.. intense, interesting, emotionally charged and with a wee bit of acceptance. Good gracious.. Martha is over the top in need of help. Donny is the most vulnerable and empathetic person. I'm so sad he and Teri didn't work out. I pray "Martha" got the freaking help she needed. I can't imagine being so conflicted and confused. My heart goes out to Donny, Teri and his parents. I loved the interaction with Donny and his dad about being victims of abuse. Props to his parents. He's got phenomenal parents. The fact this is a true story makes this movie so special. The lack of help for a man who is being stalked is scary! A double standard of course!
Unbelievable (2019)
Simply
This is an excellent movie with great perspectives. The unseen folks who are born in the system which continues fail them. The lack of empathy on the part of the law enforcement system. The doggedness of those who believe in protect and serve. I felt Marie's utter aloneness in every aspect of her life. My wordy she is a brave and tenacious soul. I love that she fought for herself. God bless women who stand up and say never again. I appreciated the conflicts of religion and law enforcement, that was a surprise inclusion. The legal system does need a rehabilitation. I think it's a great film reflecting the pain and long term effects of sexual violence.
Jewish Matchmaking (2023)
Where'd Everyone Go?
Interesting show. Vapid but I appreciated the diversity displayed within the Jewish communities. I have always been aware of the degrees of diversity within the Jewish culture but didn't realize the degree of difference in all parts of their lives.
My biggest issue is that we got to superficially meet each person and saw a date or two with them and their matches then, poof they were gone.. it looks like the matchmaker was a flop.
I'd like to see a success or two. I'm sad Fay and Shaya didn't click.
My favorite part was the older couples and their stories. Their advise and encouragement for the younger ones!
The English (2022)
Intrigued and captured
Wow... even though the plot can be jumpy and you really need to pay attention, totally engaging flick... I must confess I am a Brit flick addict. Really enjoyed this movie. The chemistry between Emily Blunt and Chaske Spencer is wonderful. Their star crossed attraction is exceptional. A perfect binge worthy series to watch. While I'm disappointed it's only one season, it is perfection in its duration. I will have to say the Tom Hughes character left me more than a little confused and wondering if he was necessary. But I always enjoy looking at him in anything he does. So it's ok in the long run.
Great music!
Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story (2023)
Ok I get it
It's a pure entertainment fictional show. But there's a good base in actual history and a true back story.. Don't worry about the merging of race issues (which I actually liked). I thought they addressed King George's MH issues with sensitivity and compassion. I would love to be reassured Queen Charlotte loved him regardless. They did have 15 kids. The absolute best scene was the last.. watch it and cry with love and compassion. The quirky relationships are endearing and precious. Seriously check into this series for a statement on love, acceptance, compassion and Royal drama. I loved it for pure entertainment value.
Ticket to Paradise (2022)
Sweet sappy movie
Super cite, Hallmark-like story about love at first sight. I love seeing actors and actresses embracing their age. I also like seeing actors and actresses enjoying themselves making a fun for fun's sake movie. Rather typical "one that got away" theme but enjoyable. Such a sweet movie. The scenery was fabulous, makes me want to go to Fiji. Definitely worth the price of a theater ticket or prime price for a feel good, hear that Julia Roberts laugh movie. And seeing George Clooney letting his hair down is enjoyable. Great chemistry. Watch the credits.. almost as cute as the movie. But don't mind me, I'm just a sappy person.
Marcella (2016)
Lordy Do Not Do Anything Else While Watching This
Lots and lots of twists, turns, subplots and "what just happened". Season 1 took getting used to the flow of the story. Acting was decent. Though I can't tell you who did what to whom. Season two was excellent though the missing "I want full custody" father was disappointing. And Lordy the season finale. Season 3 it's like there's a storm and hang on because you have no idea where it's coming from! Season 3 was a much more intense. Again as in soo many shows, too many folks get away with too much bad behavior. And I didn't understand the story line about the teen who was selling herself. Watch but heavens to Betsy pay attention.
Surviving Christmas (2004)
Typical feel good Christmas movie
I think I like this movie because I love and miss James Gandolfini...Ben Affleck is goofy and forced but within reasonable acting chops. At least it's not a prince and wayward woman Christmas story. BTW seriously ugly Christmas trees
The Least of These: A Christmas Story (2018)
Oh Lordy
This movie could've been sweet but the acting is horrendous and it just tries to hard to be about redemption and hope. It just seemed forced abs trite. Sorry had its opportunity to shine but fell short
