Man on a Ledge (2012)
A poorly done movie
This movie seemed interesting at first but then you realize there's nothing to it. Man is on a ledge. Going to jump off. Heart-racing, on the edge of the chair, your sweat gathers on your forehead as you watch the man about to fall off. In the mean time, a crime-heist happens in the background, and the tension builds. So far so good. The man is still on the ledge. Your heart is racing but not as much as before, and you are tempted to lean back since he already survived. Your sweat starts too cool off, but you still think the crime-heist is good. Surely the movie is going to pivot point soon. Man is still on the ledge. Your heart is nearing back normal now. You're not sure where to be on the seat, and even the crime element isn't that thrilling--it has so many plot holes, you notice, that as entertaining as it tries to be, it can't hold on forever. Man on ledge. Your heart is perfectly fine. You're leaning back in your seat, and you are barely paying attention to the crime heist. You're hoping this movie will end soon. Man. Ledge. How many times have you seen this? Man. Ledge. When will this end? Man. Ledge. Man. Ledge. Man-- Finally, he gets off the ledge. Wow, it was all for nothing. And the ending is cheesy too. What a lame movie. Don't watch this movie, it's really lame and has too many plot holes. Plus, the man-ledge pumping gets boring eventually.
Le petit prince (2015)
An Overrated Boring Movie with some good moments
The movie's trailer oversold the movie by cramming all the best parts into those few minutes, however, one cannot judge a movie merely by its best parts. The Little Prince is too down to earth and much too safe--the hero is never truly in trouble, and we never have intense action sequences due to our two heroes' inherent qualities in foil to the unexplained antagonists. That is not to say this movie has no good qualities, as I have mentioned, the movie trailer contains all the heart-touching scenes, and there is especially the core story of the prince himself as well as the narrator's story that makes this movie watchable to the ending. Overall, I was not that impressed by the film. It does stand out against all the unimpressive cartoons that I have seen, but yet again, it does not stand against Pixar's or even Disney's masterpieces, and in my opinion is more of a B-quality movie than an A. Despite this, I do recommend this for young children (although not too young), even if this movie may not be as entertaining for adults.
Boku dake ga inai machi (2016)
An incredible thriller
Erased started out as a very interesting decent anime. It already had gotten attention on just episode one. But it made insane progress on MyAnimeList. On merely episode two it was already rising through the ranks of MyAnimeList. By episode three it was already within the top 20 of the website, and with the release of episodes 4 and 5, it broke through the top TEN, an incredibly rare occasion considering the numerous episodes and efforts put into the other classic shows (such as Your Lie in April or even Code Geass). As I type this up now, with the show having 7 episodes, it is already at 6th place, threatening to overtake the legendary Hunter V. Hunter! Even though it is based on a manga, and its pace may feel a bit quick, it is still excellent for a 12-episode anime. With a very nice soundtrack and voicing, along with beautiful scenes combined with the very tense plot along with good characters, this anime brings the manga to life! With a less obvious display of the murderer than the manga, and with full suspense making the watcher want to know more, tortured by the weekly cliffhanger, Erased is looking to be one of the best anime of 2016--if not of all time! You should watch it if you like murder mystery, mind-games, psychology, tension, along with some supernatural powers.
Even so, be warned that the anime is not perfect. The ending may disappoint some who were expecting a red herring-- but those who have read the manga will not be surprised. Even so, the overall characters are in-depth, the tension is taut, and this anime is very good.
FYI: the highest this anime has been was in 4th place, threatening to overtake Gintama and/or Steins;Gate!
My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic: The Mane Attraction (2015)
Best Episode Ever!
This episode is either the best episode ever, or at least one of the best episodes ever. It features Lena Hall, a singer who in my mind was virtually unknown, who voices our guest character within this episode, who I will call Ra-Ra, because "Countess Coloratura"is too long. In any case, she comes in as a pop-star famous singer and is introduced as AppleJack's old friend from some random camp, where she sang excellently, and we shall ignore the fact that she was supposed to be a filly, because you know, Equestria, the Land I Love was really good. In any case, stuff happens, Coloratura's manager is revealed to be taking advantage of her name, and she basically fires the manager. The message is clarified later through her amazing song, The Magic Inside (or I'm Just a Pony), that Coloratura was not her true self, rather, Ra-Ra was her true self. So, let's see. Outstanding plot, good antagonist, good message, amazing songs. Rogers sure went out with a bang with this one, and set a rather high bar for the finale. I'd love to see how the finale--if it does- -beat THIS episode. :D
Inside Out (2015)
Amazing movie!
This movie was outstanding. First off, let's just say that this movie is very unique. Featuring all the feelings was very creative of Pixar, and the crux of the whole film. Next, because they featured the emotions within Riley's mind, the development was unusually heavy and deep. You know why they brag that this movie is made by the guys who made up? Because the Up guys really put their hearts into it. That 10 minute relationship between Carl and his wife? Here, it's turned into a full-feature child-parents relationship, but also with Riley and her relationship with the new area she moves to.
Of course, uniqueness and development are only the tip of the ice berg. The movie is tension-filled, leaving me on my edge of my seat, tearing my hair out, yelling: "Nooooo! NOOOOOOOO!!!" (Especially near the climax scene where the emotions narrowly don't make it!) The fact that it's realistic and the lands Joy and Sadness travel to fall down one-by-one, showing that Riley is losing her core self and losing who she truly is--becoming a robot, becoming out of touch with her emotions--oh dang; that's truly suspenseful and horrifying! And shall I mention (BIG spoiler--You are warned here and now--BIG spoiler)-- Bing Bong sacrifices himself in order to make Riley happy--but it's not just about Joy. No; it's not about Joy leading onwards, optimistic no matter what. It shows that people have duality of emotions. It's realistic- - and the multitude of emotions, instead of simply one emotion (or no emotion at all in the case of the movie's crucial pinpoint), there are a load of emotions within the movie.
Obviously, this movie is not just deep and touching. Let us end this review on a lighter note--this movie has excellent comedy as well. The main comical subject is the aforementioned Bing Bong 9in my opinion), which makes his death ever so-more heart-wrenching. But other than that, the humor is quite intelligent. The helicopter guy, Angry's flame, goofball land, they all add a good amount of laughs and heart-warming moments to this film. So in conclusion, this movie is amazing. It's one of pixar's best, if not the best-- failing only second arguably to the Toy Story series. (And even that is arguable). If you haven't watched it, you definitely should. It has made it into the top ten of my best movies ever watched. :D
The Maker (2011)
Very good movie
Excellent movie representing life. It holds your attention and you don't know what's happening until the very end when the timer runs out. (spoiler: the timer is the timing down of the bunny's life).
The bunny doll is quite cute, and the stuffed "animation" is unique (see the creator's "Zero" for more information"). Exciting, good soundtrack, and amazing ending. It also fooled me into thinking that the guy was creating a girlfriend for himself when in reality he was continuing his species' existence. Heh, the hints are nice. Although I don't recommend watching the trailer since it's like 1/5 of the length of the film, and reveals the very core plot which consistutes the film. Honestly, why would you need a trailer. You'd simply waste a minute of your life. Just spent the 4:30 (approximately, not including credits) minutes necessary to complete the movie. :P
Is decent enough to beat out full-feature movies that have many inconsistencies within them.
