Infamia (2023)
Warnings no happy ending
Heartbreaking and beautiful! All the actors are impressive but the young woman who plays the heroine Gita takes it all. I hope she can make a name for herself in cinema and music. This is so refreshing from the cheesy, out of touch tv shows Netflix has been serving us lately. This show is about love, loss, friendship, traditions, family and betrayal. It is about the concept of "honor" and the weight it has on people's live and the devastating consequences. It is also about the rising xenophobia in Europe. This show describes everything that is going wrong in our world right now, "avec poésie".
Woke (2020)
So much potential yet so boring
The first episode was very promising and then it took an unexpected yet very uninteresting direction. The actors are good and really deserve better writing!
Unorthodox (2020)
Beautifully told but a bit voyeur
I thought that this mini-serie was great and the acting by both the actress that plays Esty and the actor who plays Yanky as outstanding. I will probably look for the book that inspired this show. However, I felt a bit uncomfortable about how many sacred and secret rites and rituals of a community that has chosen to live isolated from the rest of the world are revealed in the show and in so many details.
