Eczema (2017)
Could have been better
The story line is good. So are the actors in this film. Where they failed was the continuity between different events and times was not smooth. One second later it was a different time and event while still in the car.
Digari (2010)
Iran cinema does it again
Well thought out story line of a boy who goes with his deceased father's partner to sell a pickup in Tehran. His father's friend has aspirations of marrying his mother which the boy resent. Masterfully told both in word and visionary content. The boys acting was done very well. Again a classic ending like so many of Iranian films. An emotional packed film.
Soog (2011)
Iranian Great
Another one of Iranian master use of amateur and child actors. The story line has been well reviewed by others so no need to repeat here. The film and story is well developed by few characters. As usual a much better ending than the standard feelgood Hollywood films. Again Iranian cinema surpasses.
Jahan, Ba Man Beraghs (2019)
Well done, provoking
Not a fast paced movie but gently leads to the finish. A dying man justifies his relationships with his friends. The way the characters intertwined with each other was done well. Each with their own failures and successes. The grey winter sets the mood.
Howze Naghashi (2013)
Warm and provoving film
Iranian films. Sometimes disjointed and sparse at the beginning and maybe a bit slow but most can create a powerful and impacting ending. This is another fine example of such a one. Story of a normal boy being raised by two disabled parents that nearly childlike as he is. Great interaction with all involved.
Didar (1995)
Iranian social norms tested
A multifaceted themes. Iran/Iraq war. Catholic/Moslem relations. Iranian customs and social norms tested. As usual an Iranian film with a great ending. Notice how different the ending is portrayed than how Hollywood would have done it.
Granaz (2009)
Must see iranian film
Delightful film about a young boy frequently late for school. This time he is helping an old lady who's language he doesn't speak find her son's home. Portrays interesting aspects of Iranian culture of home and school life and their love for Iranian poems.
Don't Be Tired! (2013)
Iran cinema does it again
Beautiful story embellishing Iranian culture and splendid scenery. Emotional highs and lows well adapted to the story. Another Iranian film to be enjoyed and treasured.
Naneh Lala va bacheharesh (1997)
Another delightful film from Iran
A great early film from Iran. This one is like The Little Rascals on steroids. About a dozen children try to help this old lady talk on the phone with her son that she has not heard from for a long time. The problem is the door to the house is locked and no key. The children are very inventive in ways to gain entry. What makes this film unique is what they put this poor lady through to accomplish their goal. Amazing they did some of this filming without regards to safety protocols we have here in the states. The Iranian directors for this film and past 40 years really know how to use amateurs and children in the cinema.
