Vastness quiets the mind
What a beautiful film. A big thank you to Mia and mr. Eddy. Here 11 years after its production I find a setting like this desert even more current today. With a modern lifestyle of digital technology separating man from its natural origin - thereby making it increasingly ill - the hardship endured through this endeavour grinds the ego down, making way for a spiritual revelation. Especially towards the end, I was moved to tears several times. I am not sure why- i guess i felt connected with her experience.
On a sligthly different note, a desert is a very underestimated scenery. When taking a pilotlicense in Phoenix, Arizona I became infatuated with the desert there. Small in comparison yes, but delicate and beautiful. The open space makes room for a soul to fly amids the busy mind of the modern world.
Husdrömmar Sicilien (2020)
Amazing personalities
I absolutely love the characters Marie, Bill and Solveig....and Alessio. I don't see many of these types of programs anymore, but on the danish tv app I stumbled over this show. Amazing how this odd couple grows on you. I love their complex yet honest energy, the creativity and southern swedish dialect. Solveig must be an old soul - what a fine grounding she upholds. I am amazed how they keep the pace, with so many projects at the same time, however it's still tv so i imagine the worst times of missing eachother or economic misery, have been cut away. What an amazing garden they created. How much did Alessio's assistance cost? I want to go to Sicily now! Love Morten.
The Sandman (2022)
The X-stra star
Very well produced and many scenes well executed. The X-stra star came in E6 when death took dream around and ended different lives...including and infant. No judgements, similar issues, but different paths. That is one reason why reincarnation makes sense to me and this episode is the best version of my personal faith, yet expressed on film.
StartUp (2016)
Gangster backed tech world
Great cast. Edi Gathegi really performs with an edge and I love seeing Ron Pearlman letting go as a smooth talking business rep garnished with a gangster vibe.
By the way, Regina Hardesty is yet another proof that mixed race more often than not, ends with great beauty.
Saving Capitalism (2017)
Reclaiming democracy
That is what's at stake here. There is no free market in America or much of the world anymore. The laws following the great depression, was put in place to avoid a similar tragedy but the have now been reversed. Because people in government now serve corporation rather than the people inequality is today as it was in the 1880-90's. If this continues it will very likely result in a violent overturn of some sort. Robert Reich very patiently shows that to counteract that people can and should reclaim democracy by standing together and thereby saving capitalism against the present choke hold corporate America have on legislators and the general population.
Deep State (2018)
Uncomfortable real
Though fiction, it offers far better explanations on how so many wars have played out, than the stories told by officials claiming to defend democracy.
It goes to show what can happen when private contractors runs the show unchecked.
Sickening, but I'm afraid it's closer to the truth than not.
Better Things: New Orleans (2020)
Beautiful wedding
An Indian themed gay wedding in the warm south of New Orleans - very beautiful. May all old and "new" cultures be as tolerent as portrayed here. Geogeus!
Better Things: Steady Rain (2020)
Bevar Christiania
As always Pamela manage to portray seemingly day to day situations among friends and family with heart and humour. However in this episode i especially noticed the sweatshirt Pamela wears with the text: Bevar Christiania. It's from my old hometown Copenhagen where it's an existing area originally occupied by hippies and founded in 1971. The conservative establishment have always tried to shut the place down, thus the text that means preserve Christiania. First time I've seen it worn in a foreign TV show.....nice 🤠
Vinyl (2016)
Cancelled?
Why in the world would anyone stop Vinyl?
I just read a interview with Juno Temple, as I'm watching the final episode of the first season, when I found out. So well produced with solid performances! Is it the usual widespread American paranoia with a little nakedness, that did the show in?
Whatever the reason it's not valid to leave us hanging....at least tie up the loose ends with a second season! WTF guys!
Killing Eve (2018)
Jodie Comer sets a new standard
Having seen sooo many movies and tv series over the years, you risk getting numb with many of the performances. Jodie and sandra´s characters have a fresh spin on their chemistry between each other. The way she plays with a villain's mind...yes she is pretty, but what sets her far apart from most, is her full palette of facial expression with ever changing shifts in emotion and a humor that cracks me up. In that intriguing combination, I find Jodie Comer insanely sexy. May she set a precedent of why future actresses should not numb their facial expression with surgery or poison. Even if "well done" their faces always seems off somehow. We may want similar thing as humans, but at birth we are all unique. Embrace it instead of trying to look the same!
Wanderlust: Episode #1.5 (2018)
Awesome headcase
The way Sophie Okoneda does an analysis on the main character is simply brilliant in this episode
Shot Caller (2017)
Penal system from hell
Great performance from a fellow Dane. Fine development in a whole new type of character portrayed by Nikolaj. It goes to show that when you support a " correctional " system that forces you to choose side between ruthless gangs in order for you OR Your family to survive, how can you expect anything but a dehumanizing process to happen... that system may soothe a victims family short term that same way if you wet your pants on cold winters day, but society in general looses. Great movie and a lot tougher that most 'cause it feels so authentic
Captain Fantastic (2016)
Real family
That's probably the most sane family I've ever seen or heard of. When asked questions about, life, death, sex, disease or any topic that most "normal" parent would hush down in order to "protect" them, this father takes his children seriously and answers frankly and precisely..... thereby feeding his youngsters actual knowledge so they later can make informed choices. Emotions were addressed without fear - demanding a parent in balance - and when in place, just lived out. Without isolating in a forest, at least spent more time in nature... Together. If just 1 in 10 family would raise their children with just a fraction of the same sincerity the world would go from predominantly zombie to a more present one! As usual Viggo Mortensen plays with more depth that most and the children's characters are awesomely portrayed.... by other children and young people. I fel in love with all of them!
