Demetri Martin: The Overthinker (2018)
Excellent
I was laughing pretty much the whole time, what more can you ask for? :)
Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee: A Little Hyper-Aware (2014)
Jerry from Seinfeld
I don't know what it was but Jerry in this episode made me feel like I was watching an episode of Seinfeld. It must have been Sarah and her great personality that brought out the fun goofy Jerry. I don't feel like It would have been out of place had George, Kramer and Elaine been sitting in the back seat :) Side note, I too had the thought about how everyone lays down at night; an entire city of people all laying down and sleeping! It's just an interesting thing that's never talked about. We say that everyone is home but we never say everyone is in bed.
Dexter: Hello, Dexter Morgan (2009)
Amazing!!
This was my favorite episode ending so far! "Hello, Dexter Morgan" HAHA!!! That was awesome. Superb acting and so much tension!
Dexter: Turning Biminese (2008)
Compromise?
This was yet another great episode, well done. This is more of a philosophical review. Being an independent guy, the thought of Dexter giving up his apartment to live the family life really saddened me. The man has an apartment on the water, an awesome boat, a great job and a full time hobby that makes the time fly by!! Giving all that up to be a family man sounds like a mistake. "Let's compromise, " says all women ever, "Do it my way." This is the way women control men, it's not very hard to do. Between Deb and Rita, the man has no hope to continue living the MGTOW lifestyle. Ironically, I'd bet if he actually just stuck to what he wanted and not got pulled and tugged in directions he didn't see fit, that half the good characters in the show wouldn't have died. But, it is a show and comparing it to real life is silly, I just wanted to point out how women should learn how to actually compromise.
Louie: So Did the Fat Lady (2014)
Pulling back the curtain and exposing honesty
This was an amazing episode. Sarah Baker played one of the most likable characters I have ever seen on TV. The blunt and brutal honestly this episode showcased was awkward and uncomfortable but it still made you smile; probably because this level of honestly in real life is so rare.
I'm a guy so I have no idea if the lines in this episode are what a heavy girl would really say (or be thinking) but I'm sure it's not too far off if at all...just a hunch.
The one small example I can give the world is my experience with telling a girl the truth one time in my life. I was hanging out with a friend (the type of friend that both are feeling the waters with to see if there is more there). She mentions how her legs are getting a little chunky and that all her friends keep telling her that she looks fine. She asked me to give her my honest opinion, so I looked at her legs and examined the situation; I told her that her legs were in fact looking a little thicker, she immediately smiled and said, "See, that's why I like hanging out with you, you're honest!"
Excellent job on the episode (and the series) Louis, you never stop impressing me!
Lord of War (2005)
Very true, and very sad
I'd give this movie a 10 out of 10 if it wasn't so true to life and uncomprehendingly tragic.
The guns in life are real. The conflicts are real. The high ranking officials who allow the evil to flourish is real and the deranged villagers who shoot women and children is real.
I paused this movie for a bit to Google, "Illegal sales of military helicopters." Sure enough a relevant search surfaced.
Pratt & Whitney, an American aerospace manufacturer with global service operations does big business with the US defense department. Their parent company is United Technologies Corporation (UTC). They are also an American company who contract for billions with the "defense" department.
A few years back Pratt & Whitney got caught selling weapons technology to China...yeah, you heard that right, China! The images of the "New" Chinese military helicopters look identical to ours, I wonder why? Pratt & Whitney settled a court suit over the matter and paid a fine of $75 million (their yearly revenue that year was over 5 billion). The next year they signed 1.5 billion worth of new contracts with the US defense department. As I said before, it would be much more entertaining if it weren't so fu$king real! So, so very corrupt and so very sad.
How the States Got Their Shapes (2011)
Great Show but has anyone else noticed...
The first season was amazing, I loved it. Something very strange happened in the second season though, it adopted a cheesy game show type style and VERY centralized around the Midwest. Every episode in the second season seems to have something to do with the Midwest. What about the other states? Yeah, they are mentioned but not explored in depth. I've heard them talk about Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan, Ohio, etc., what about Oregon, Washington, Montana? Hell, California has only been features once or twice. Maybe the boarders are more interesting in the Midwest but you could still talk about the other states more. Maybe I'm wrong and have missed something but it just seems like the producer of the show loves the great lakes area.
Edge of Tomorrow (2014)
Great Movie, I think the scariest aliens I have ever seen
This was a great movie. I didn't know the premises before I watched it and it totally caught me off guard. I really had no idea what was going on at first (we all didn't) then it just kept throwing more and more twists in, it kept you on my toes the whole time.
I wanted to write this review to mainly express my sheer fright at how utterly terrifying these aliens are. They don't resemble a human what so ever, they don't even represent an animal. The way the movie doesn't really focus on the details of the aliens adds to this fright. I couldn't think of a more terrifying enemy. They are hard to hit, move master than you can react, have out of this world strength, can go underwater, can rip the metal doors off your vehicle, can travel through the dirt like the worms in Tremors, and has about 6-8 arms. This was a tremendous enemy, no human could beat it one on one without metal suits, very powerful firearms, and reflexes like a fly. Actually, the only people who could beat them most of the time could see the future so yeah, I don't think humans would stand a chance.
The House I Live In (2012)
Best Drug and Prison Documentary I Have Ever Seen
This needs to be seen by every law officer, every judge, every college student and beyond. This is a VERY powerful documentary that doesn't just paint a black and white picture telling us that drugs are acceptable or that drugs are bad, it talks about the HUNDREDS of elements which make up the complex drug and prison system we know of today.
Some of the top minds in the industry on both sides give the best and most insightful talks, this has really been an eye opening film for me.
I wish I could mass produce this DVD for free and mail it to every citizen of the US. We need to change this system, it's broken and heading down a very scary path. Most people think that drugs and prisons don't affect them so why bother with the issue, you couldn't be any more wrong. Thousands of times a day the authorities are searching people and seizing property without due process, many times never finding anything. A man was killed after a raid and nothing was found. This IS RELEVANT TO ALL CITIZENS OF America. The Constitution is our savings grace, don't let it burn to ash along with your freedom.
Please watch this, even if you don't agree with everything, I feel like you can still learn something and apply it to your community and the ballet box to make a positive change in the right direction.
A Place at the Table (2012)
Hunger isn't the issue
Not earning enough money to be able to feed yourself and your family is NOT the issue, it's a lack of education and discipline.
The fact that the most obese segment of our population is also the poorest and "hungriest" is SO frustrating. These people buy soda, sweets, fast food etc. but then claim they don't have enough money for vegetables...bull. It's just an excuse to say poor me and still indulge in gratifying yet unhealthy foods. I go to the store and buy 5 POUNDS of carrots for $5. 10 pounds of beans for $12. 5 pounds of brown rice for $3. This is a TREMENDOUS amount of nutritious food for only $20 that can feed me for a WEEK. This is obviously not ideal since we're still missing green leafy vegetables and fruit, but it's WAY WAY better than the junk food most of these people were eating. I say again, it's not a money issue, it's an education and discipline issue. Beans are packed with protein, rice gives you energy, and vegetables give your body the needed nutrition. Cookies, cakes, soda, chef boyardee, fast food etc. are all addiction foods that are very costly on your wallet and body, the solution is so stupidly simple that all the people complicating it should be ASHAMED!
As a side note, the waitress in the first scene was complaining about how little her paycheck was every two weeks, shame on her for not telling the whole truth. You don't waitress for the paychecks, you do it for the cash tips, how many cash did you accumulate in two weeks? Didn't want to mention that one did ya?
The same family also said they don't buy vegetables anymore because it's too costly, well then, STOP making cakes and pies and start buying carrots and celery if you really care. Otherwise, don't act like you can't afford it when the reality of the situation is you don't want to buy the healthy stuff because it doesn't taste as good.
