Armageddon Time (2022)
What Was Hopkins Thinking?
One of the reasons I thought this would be good was because Anthony Hopkins is in it. Oscar winner and stuff, right? Yeah, maybe he's out of money or something...
None of the characters are likable. There's no one who deserves any sympathy. The kids are jerks, the teacher is an idiot, and suddenly, without any setup or backstory, the dad abuses the kids. Which reminds me that the parents are terrible people and incapable of parenting anyway.
The storyline is taking forever. I'm nearly an hour in and I'm not sure why this movie was made or the story was written. It's going nowhere. There is no reason for me to watch the last hour of this. It would be a waste of time.
Anthony Hopkins, what were you thinking?
Bosch: Legacy (2022)
Good story lines, terrible writing
I don't know how the writers managed to come up with a decent story line for season two while at the same time managing to write such horrible scripts...
It's almost as if they handed off the duties to a different team. "Here, see if you can write something around this plot that we think is very good." Well, Team Two failed.
The scenes between Bosch and Maddie are just cringe-worthy. They don't ever really exhibit any father-daughter connection or chemistry. The script isn't helping at all, but it's as though neither actor has any idea what it's like to be a father or a daughter.
I knew Mo was getting played from the first moment the FBI agent hit the screen. Called it.
Bad writing of a decent story for season two. If there is a season three I will probably force myself to watch it, though.
Tulsa King (2022)
What on Earth...
Scrolling through the streaming services to find a new show, I came upon this... I don't try anything less than a 7.5 on IMDb, so when I saw an actor I like and a score of 8.1, I figured how could I miss? Well, it missed. Badly. I gave it a 3 because there may have been a few likes and scenes that weren't a 1. But not many. For the life of me I can't figure out how, after 45,000 ratings, this show comes away with an 8.1. Does Stallone know that many people that he can ask to rate it highly? Has the world gone mad? 8.1. 8.1!! I can't believe what I just watched earned an 8.1. This may be the first time IMDb has failed me.
The Lincoln Lawyer (2022)
Just Watch Law and Order
This might as well be a network show. I expect better from Netflix. Average dialog, average actors, the lead/title character is boring, etc. A stereotypical TV drama in which the lead has a tragic backstory that we don't get to know all about right away, an ex-wife or two, and of course a child whom he loves dearly. Also he's the best at what he does, because of course he is. A 6/10 is a gift in many ways.
American Auto (2021)
Wow, this is terrible.
I made it five minutes before I couldn't take any more. Potentially the worst show ever. Truly awful writing. The acting isn't any better. I was going to stop after that last sentence, but apparently a review needs 150 characters. But I don't need 150 characters to say how bad this is. Don't waste your time.
H. H. Holmes: Original Evil (2018)
Can't go lower than 1/10, unfortunately
I'm a fan of the story thanks to Erik Larson's excellent book, "Devil in the White City." Do yourself a favor and read that. Don't waste your time on this. It's an insult to 8th graders to say that it seems like an 8th grade essay, but that's all I can think of. A 14-year-old could have done this better. Seriously, do not watch this.
Clickbait (2021)
I don't hate it, but...
Just when I think this show is pretty good, it delivers a line like, "this picture - it looks like a bookstore. See all those bookshelves?" Dude. But it's engaging, entertaining, mindless fun. Five episodes in, and I'm not sure if we are supposed to be able to figure it out or not, but I still have no idea. The dialog is terrible sometimes, but not bad enough to make me turn it off and move on.

Bluff City Law (2019)
A Waste of Jimmy Smits
This show is a dog. It couldn't be more obvious how it's going to turn out. Bad acting, even worse writing. What a waste of the great talent of Jimmy Smits.
