Last Resort (I) (2012–2013)
Was my Last Resort for TV shows, became my first after watching the pilot
29 September 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Last Resort is a mystery TV show that talks about a crew of a submarine that gets the orders to nuke Pakistan, however those orders came from a not-much-secured line which made the Captain suspect the order. When he questioned the orders he faced his submarine getting attacked by another US submarine. This put the crew in the front lines of a nuclear war which made them stand up to themselves and ready to fire 18 nuclear missiles against anyone who attacks them.

The show reminds me of Jericho; the mystery, the nuclear weapons, and the drama. The action is not much anticipated in this series, although i would like to see the Navy SEALS prove how they captured Bin Ladin and earn their reputation. So far only the pilot has been out and it looks very promising. The crew of the submarine has resided on an island and parked their submarine on the shores of this island; making the island their 'last resort' i presume, hence the Captain said "This might be our new home" at the end of the pilot. I hope the show gets better and better or even just stay at the same rate of Awesome it has now. On the other hand, i really do not need more shows to watch.

Breaking Bad: Say My Name (2012)
Season 5, Episode 7

You know who i am, say my name
27 August 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Finally the show is back as we know it; methy, tense, and dramatic all at the same time. The episode kicks off with Walter finally getting his grip around the 'empire' he's been talking about. He makes sure that everyone at the meeting, including Jesse and Mike, know that he is not just 'Walter' anymore, he is Heisenberg; the best meth cook in the country, and the guy who killed Fring.

After that Heisenberg takes off the bug he put in Hank's office, realizing the tension is too much between the feds and them, when he notices that the feds are going after Mike now so he calls him and warns him. This does not mean that he cares about him, Walter would, but Heisenberg doesn't and just wants the feds to stay away from him even if that means doing what's necessary...

The feds close in on Mike, taking his money away and making him drive away from his granddaughter which drives him crazy but there's nothing he can do about it. Heisenberg goes and delivers a bag for Mike then asks him for the names of the nine guys in return, Mike refuses then Heisenberg decides to shoot him instead of talking it out. This dramatic and mind blowing ending, with the ending of the killing-the-kid episode, makes us realize how epic the next episodes are going to be, and how fantastic the finale will be. Most of all, how sad will all of us be after this show ends.

Breaking Bad: Buyout (2012)

The Meth King Rises
20 August 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Walter is finally living up to his Heisenberg reputation. In this episode we witness Walter becoming his own alter ego; the meth devil we've always loved and died to see every episode since season one. This season is going to be the final one for Breaking Bad, and the first one for The Heisenberg.

The episode starts with grief and sadness over what happened at the end of episode five; Tod murdering a little kid after witnessing the Jesse James train theft done by our two and a half men. As many of us concluded, Jesse is the only one who does not agree with what happened, with Walter and Mike feeling bad but also knowing that was the only way to keep going. This shows how committed they are to the business, and how far they are willing to go to get their 300 million dollars worth of cooked- methylamine. Jess, on the other hand, is not a big fan or murdering little kids on the job.

What i did not very much like about the episode is Walter's thinking; how he kept saying this business is the only thing that is left for him, yet if he quits he gets his family's safety back, his wife, his life, plus 5 million dollars. Something Jesse already mentioned but Walt did not pay much attention too. This might be disregarded as a mistake because it only shows how blinded Walter has become by the 'Empire' he is dreaming of. Becoming a real King.

But is it a pride-worthy Empire?

And that is how you rob Methylamine from a container carried by a moving train
14 August 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Walt can't stop making us stand on our toes, with a laptop, while watching the show. This episode is by far the best in the series and i hope we see even better. However, i don't like how Jesse is suddenly the 'MAGNETS' and 'CONTAINERS' guy; the guy who comes up with the best solutions for the hardest problems. Anyway robbing the train and the entire master plan, by Jesse or whoever, was fantastic and thrilling to see and much better than the Magnet trick. Anyway, moving to the more important part, the ending! This ending is seen on the finales of drama series, however, on Breaking Bad it is just another normal day in New Mexico. Death has never been taken for granted in this show, each death meant something significant in the life of a character or two, and a little kid dying in front of Walt and Jesse is something that will make us die in anxiousness till next week.

Nice Dubstep. Boring Episode
6 August 2012
I gotta say i never expected dubstep to be this mainstream and hit places like prime time TV or even the radio! Anyway the episode was very boring, for me at least. It was a clash between Skyler and Walt, nice idea i know, however the fans need something to get their juice flow going! We need some meth-cooking heads-blowing half-faced-zombie scenes. When the episode ended i felt it ran for 10 minutes because all the drama, especially that pool scene, were unnecessary since everyone already knows how much of an attention whore Skyler really is. I hope they step up a bit and show some gore or at least cook more meth, we didn't even see them cook a batch this time. I know you might think i'm an action junkie but that's what Breaking Bad got us used to, and that is what we expect.

All Hail The King
16 July 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Without doubt this has to be the most watched episode of Breaking Bad throughout all the seasons, and it is with 2.9 million viewers. However, the episode was not as interesting as one would expect. The episode starts with a flash-forward of Walt with a new name and a new scruffy look, he has an M60 machine gun in the trunk of his car when suddenly we're back to the present. this reminds us of the first episode of Breaking Bad when Walt was half naked running away from the cops, however, they do not show us at the end of this episode what the M60 nor the alias are for, unlike the first episode of the series. The magnet in the van thing was pretty amazing and made me wanna try it one day when i'm rich, it also reminded me how clever Walt is and was in his previous episodes; creating new ideal ways to get whatever he desires easily and perfectly. The episode overall was very good but the end was not; he just hugs that bitch and forgives her? Come on it's the first episode after a year we need e better ending to the first one! Oh well, see you next week.

The Gold Rush (1925)

Did he or Hitler create that mustache first?
11 July 2012
I watched this movie because a friend needed me to write a critique about it for his Writing 204 course, and i did not expect to like a black & white movie! The Gold Rush is about a poor man, Charlie Chaplin, who struggles through life until he becomes rich. The story is great, funny, interesting, whatever you may like to call it, but what should grab your attention is how a ninety-percent-silent-movie (narrated only) in black & white can make you stare at the screen for so long without waiting for someone to talk, or actually not wanting anyone to talk anymore. This is how you can tell an actor can actually act or not. Charlie Chaplin wanted everyone to remember him for this, The Gold Rush, and it is the most famous movie of his, alongside City Lights of course. Georgia, Chaplin's love in this movie, is a person i did not like very much for some reason, however, Chaplin did show affection for her that i don't think any of those High School Musical kids could ever show to their own parents! He makes you feel that he cares about her in real life too and makes you Google her now and see if she is still alive. You'll be doing that a second after finishing The Gold Rush. Don't disappoint me, watch it.
