Miller's Girl (2024)
Revenge Unveiled: Miller's Girl
This attempts to be a compelling and thought-provoking film that delves into the complex and often overlooked issue of abuse against men by women. The movie bravely explores the theme of revenge as a driving force behind such abuse, offering a perspective on a topic that is typically portrayed from the opposite angle, it shows that we live in a world where me are used and abused.
With moderate performances and less than complex storyline, "Miller's Girl" shines a light on the emotional and psychological toll of abuse, challenging societal norms and shedding light on the often silenced experiences of male victims. Many will argue that the female character is the victim but in reality the discarded male character is the actual victim. The film navigates the delicate balance between suspense and introspection, leaving viewers on the edge of their seats while also prompting deeper reflection on the dynamics of power and control in relationships.
The Director misses the sensitive subject matter, weaving together a narrative that is both poignant and thought-provoking but it does not mix together well. Through nuanced characters and overly intricate dialogue to make the viewer think the storyline is smarter and better than it really is, "Miller's Girl" attempts to invite audiences to confront their preconceptions and engage in meaningful conversations about gender, power, and justice but it misses it by a long shot.
In an industry where stories of male victimization are often overshadowed, "Miller's Girl" does however stand out as a bold and necessary addition to the cinematic landscape. It is a film that challenges conventions, sparks conversation, and leaves an impression on all who watch it, but overall it does not do itself justice and misses the mark as a movie overall.
Dune: Part Two (2024)
Better Title: Babel Babble "Sandstorms and Syntax"
In the swirling sands of cinematic experimentation emerges "Babel Babble," a visual odyssey through desert landscapes and digital dunes. While the cinematography and CGI are undeniably captivating, the story's coherence is as elusive as an oasis in the Sahara.
Set against a backdrop of shifting sands and sun-bleached horizons, "Babel Babble" immerses viewers in a world where communication is as tangled as the desert undergrowth. Dialogue flits between languages like mirages on the horizon, leaving audiences to decipher a linguistic labyrinth with no map in sight.
As the plot meanders through the dunes, viewers are left to wander alongside the protagonist, whose motivations are as inscrutable as the shifting sands beneath their feet. Attempts to unravel the narrative threads are met with frustration and confusion, as the story twists and turns like a sandstorm in the desert.
Yet, amidst the narrative quagmire, "Babel Babble" shines as a visual spectacle. Each scene is a testament to the beauty of the desert landscape, from the golden hues of sunrise to the eerie glow of moonlit sand dunes. The CGI seamlessly blends reality and fantasy, creating vistas that are both breathtaking and surreal.
In the end, "Babel Babble" is a film of contradictions. While its visuals transport viewers to stunning desert vistas, its story leaves much to be desired. It's a cinematic journey best enjoyed with a healthy dose of skepticism and a willingness to embrace the absurdity of it all. So strap in, hold on tight, and prepare to be whisked away on a whirlwind tour of linguistic chaos and visual splendor. Just don't expect to find much coherence along the way.
Past Lives (2023)
This Shattered my heart but gave me hope for love as well!
This tale evokes a profound ache, a tapestry woven with raw human emotion and masterful storytelling.
The conclusion shattered me, even though I've never harbored a lifelong love for a childhood companion. If you find yourself in a precarious relationship, settling for less than you deserve, this will strike a chord.
For those still seeking love, consider this a cautionary tale. Whether you believe in reincarnation or not, this current life is the only one we know.
Despite occasional linguistic barriers, this film remains remarkably accessible. Its narrative, reminiscent of an indie film's slice-of-life style, is complemented by performances of astonishing naturalness and ease. Greta Lee and Teo Yoo radiate a magnetic chemistry, their beauty extending from within. John Magaro embodies his character flawlessly. The conversation he shares with Nora in bed is profoundly stirring. The film underscores how seemingly small moments shape our paths and connections, their significance often elusive in the present.
A trip to your local coffee shop post-review might hold a fateful encounter, a testament to life's unpredictable twists. Embrace the possibility of someone extraordinary entering your world. Yet, it implores you to heed your heart's whispers, ideally long before a decade-long marriage reveals its misguided foundation.
That final scene deserves a place in a museum, its emotional impact lingering long after the credits rolled. Nora's turmoil resonates deeply, even now as I write. The film's outset may have suggested a slow burn, but it blossomed into a profoundly human and exquisite journey. In that pivotal moment, Nora confronted the weight of her reality and crumbled. The silence, both chilling and beautiful, spoke volumes as Nora and Hae Sung locked eyes, unspoken sentiments passing between them. Their intimacy had reached a point where words were superfluous. Nora's melancholy trek back to Arthur was heart-wrenching, her struggle to hold herself together palpable until their final embrace. While there were opportunities to delve further into character interactions at the outset and middle, and perhaps ease the pacing through significant time jumps, the conclusion was nothing short of perfection.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022)
What a sad disappointment with no meaning or purpose!
Such a disappointment. Acting is horrible, casting is even worse, villains who look silly and not villainous, it's as if they took a Mexican drug cartel actors instead of a sci-fi storyline actors. They literally ruined Chadwick Bosemans's legacy! It's me a B rated Avatar! Wasted multiple hours of my life that I will never get back. Pushing the feminist Agenda on top of it. Disney and Hollywood has turned upside down! Not a single action scene in this movie made any sense or had anything to with any previous storyline! You can see it was a movie just made purely to make money by using Boseman's death for financial gains! Just a disgusting utter disgrace!
Maggie (2022)
Great show! What a pleasant surprise.
Wow, what a pleasant surprise! A little comedy with some mild drama and magic, well written and great cast! Love the realism but with magic of and throwing in some sitcoms style comedy into a TV show comedy. And the fact they have the realistic gay and lesbian and straight stories without pushing an agenda. Such refreshing fun but real outlook with a magic twist on many races and colors and sexual orientation, FINALLY! Great watch!!!
Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
Good show Poor Special FX and Casting
For such a great story they have cast poorly and acting is sub par by the unimportant actors, and for a Star Wars Show the FX could be better! Let's see how the story line plays out!
The Time Traveler's Wife (2022)
Great show but casting is so WRONG!
This is a great show so far and amazing acting but there is zero chemistry between the two main actors and Rose Leslie as Claire is a complete disaster and horrible mistake! She should not have been cast as Claire! She does not fit the role! PERIOD!
Ode to Joy (2019)
Such a sweet and warm hearted movie
I'm disappointed that it didn't get higher reviews. I guess people don't enjoy love and a true connection anymore. Super sweet and lovable movie!
Anna (2019)
