Could have almost given it a 10
Had the lead actor playing Dan been better this would get 10 stars. It is a great story and not the same old tired script. Not going to post any spoilers.
SEAL Team (2017)
Best Military Drama on TV
As a person who worked for SOCOM and CENTCOM and who served I can tell you this show does a great job on many levels. The dialog is very authentic and the interactions are realistic. When they put down CENTCOM some in one episode that is how the interaction between SOCOM and CENTCOM is.
I have been impressed since S1 E1 and it just gets better. Of course there is a lot of Hollywood in it, but where it counts they make it authentic. I love this show for sure.
Ghost Town Gold (2012)
Great show sad only 1 season
This was a great show I found on Netflix. The hosts are awesome and the history they uncovered was great. It's a shame this series only had one season.
The Expanse (2015)
Amazing, brilliant SciFi
This is how SciFi should be done. Creative plot, great acting, amazing characters and excellent effects. I am hooked! The saddest thing is when I finish a season and have to wait for the next one. Don't pass this show up!
The Mandalorian (2019)
Jon Favreau saves Star Wars
Just like he did with Marvel, Favreau has made Star Wars what it is supposed to be. Not some anthem or some other dumb stuff. Instead you have a solid story set in the Star Wars Universe and while sipping back into the past at moments with references or stories, it creates an interesting and unique storyline. The characters and acting are on point as well.
Midway (2019)
One really great movie!
Don't pay attention to the people who rate this less than a 6, they must have some other issue because this movie was excellent. As far as Hollywood, sure it was Hollywoodish, but mainly just in the special effects. The expressions and 99% of the dialogue was well done in true to the time period. While the characters were Hollywood stars, the planet portrayed the actual people flawlessly.
The story moves at a quick pace and they do a good job building many of the characters and assuming you have some intelligence to know with Admirals Nimitz and Halsey as well as Yamamoto and Genda on the Japanese side.
Well worth the watch!!
12 Strong (2018)
Don't let the rating fool you
This rating was thanks to the anti-war SJW's who tried to ruin a good movie. Those who say this movie isn't good know nothing about the early days of OEF. There are some "Hollywood" moments, but it's an excellent movie based on an epic book.
Again don't listen to the critics!
The Art of the Steal (2013)
Don't let the rating fool you.
This is a really good movie with some genuine good laughs and a great cast. The movie takes numerous twists and turns and will keep you guessing till the end. Don't care about the rating. It is worth the watch I promise you!
John Carter (2012)
A truly great film
Based on ER Burroughs's novel The Prince Of Mars Disney did a great job of making this movie adaptation. If you listen to the crappy reviews you would think this was the worst SciFi movie ever made. It isn't at all don't listen to them, it mixes humor, war, conflict and romance into a truly enjoyable blockbuster. Watch it, you won't be disappointed!
North by Northwest (1959)
Truly a masterpiece
One of the best AH movies. Between the erotic conversations and innuendo between Grant and Marie and suspense and drama throughout that culminates in an epic scene you are in for a real treat. A truly great movie that has stood the test of time!
Wild Wild Country (2018)
Mediocre at best
Don't believe the folks who say there is no bias. This is beyond biased. No mention of the many children who were physically, emotionally and sexually abused. No mention of the crimes in India that made them leave. No mention of any of the real crimes. Instead you have a biased narration and a biased documentary. Had potential to show the good, bad and ugly. Instead it shows normal folks as dumb squares and the cult members as intellectual geniuses who flop and flail around like a bunch of epileptics. Waste of time.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (2017)
Good watch but suspend belief
The show is really good and the comedy is well done. A few of the characters however not so much. Half of the outfits are very period appropriate the other half are completely out of the park. Her manager is a joke and also the langauge used was not unheard of, but the context it is used in and the amount of it is unbelievable. I had a group of 13 people all who lived and worked in NY in the 50's all of whom said Mad Men was the way the 50's were.
Jack Ryan (2018)
Good but the political messages need to stop
Great new series, lots of good moments. Best series since 24 however one big issue is the political correctness. It's kind of annoying and Greer being a Muslim is just dumb.the story line itself is well done for sure and with some small examples a lot of the technical jargon and acronyms used are very accurate. Great job, just quit with the dumb politicial messages.
BlacKkKlansman (2018)
Not spectacular but didn't suck
The story was interesting, the characters did good, it's the politics that bothered me. The characters had depth, the dialog has some funny parts and somethings to think about. But the politics are Spike Lee's. This will go into the books as an average movie.
Making It (2018)
Really great show!
If you are looking for a show that lets you escape from all the negative around us and see Nick and Amy together again this is your show. A truly excellent show!
How It Ends (2018)
Were they expecting us to tell them how it ends?
Really good movie with tons of potential, visually well done, good acting, typical millennial beta male becomes and alpha thanks to the wise old Marine. A little stupid SJW deal with the Indian woman talking about Indian names for helicopters. Then a great build up and then nothing. The worst ending I have seen. No flash forward, not closure, no clue what happened to anyone or what was the cause. Way to go Netflix!
Love (2016)
Great and relatable
I would have given this a 10 but I think the fact that Gus came completely clean and Mickey still had her little secret was kind of a mess and it's a shame every other word had to be a curse word especially from children actors.
The story is great and it is relatable in so many ways. You see a lot of the ups and down of relationships and the characters are likeable. I say it's well worth watching!
Lost in Space (2018)
Really great reboot
Don't listen to the Science Nerds or people who want the original series, this reboot is excellent. They did a great job making an entertaining sci-fi series you can watch with your kids that is exciting and has great cliff hangers. The actors are great and I loved the storyline.
Do yourself a favor and don't listen to the naysayers. Watch it yourself with fresh eyes and be willing to let the writers take you on their telling of this story. You won't regret it.
Dazed and Confused (1993)
Don't pay attention to the Critics
This movie is spot on in so many ways to growing up and going to Jr. High and High School in the late 70's / early 80's. For those who don't get it or say there is no plot and story line, there is. The plot is celebrating the rites of passage from Jr. High to High School and also becoming a Senior.
The hazing happened frequently when I went went from Jr.High to High School. It wasn't spankings, it was other things, but they still happened. Pot, ludes, speed and alcohol were very prevalent and easy to get. The bathrooms reeked of cigarette smoke and pot as did the parking lots.
The house parties and barn bashes we used to have were legendary at times. We used to hang out in a game room called Big Daddy's here in Tampa. We would play pool, foosball and video games and then leave and go smoke dope in the parking lot or drive around and slam some beers or hit up one of the house parties for a while then come back and hang out.
We were partying so much the local news did a story on the massives parties we were putting on. It was great times and ones I will never forget. When I watch this movie I am transported back to those days. Don't let people tell you it's not authentic, if they do, they are either not from this country or were the unpopular kids who didn't get invited to parties.
Enjoy this movie as it is very accurate and will give you an idea if you didn't grow up as a teen in the late 70's and early 80's how crazy times were.
