Moonage Daydream (2022)
NOT a documentary. No potential seizure warning.
Watched in the theater. ZERO plot. Was so sad because I was very excited about it. Worst film editing I've ever experienced. Literally had to exit during one of the many mindless music montages for 7 minutes because I got a bad migraine. In attempts to make a creative film they lifted hundreds of clips and chopped them together. It was a noble attempt that was physically painful to watch. The second hour they seem to calm down a bit and try to make a story but there was zero arch. Uneven audio levels.
Learned very little about Bowie's life aside from his mindset. The mindset part was interesting but not worth the headache-producing flashes of light and 2-5 second clips flashing with zero purpose.
It would have maybe been ok if it was all Bowie scenes but pulling random clips from the world with zero connection to the artist or explanation made it just some sort of modern art film. I get it they want to make an art film but it isn't a documentary. Great clips of Bowie / quotes, but at the expense of potential seizure.

Hilarious SlapStick RomCom for those sick of American Ideals
I dragged my brother to this Spanish flick thinking: "Oh, you speak Spanish. Here sit and watch this thing with me." He almost refused. First 5 minutes: We were cracking up. Maybe it was the venue (Seattle International Film Fest at some funky theater) or perhaps it was truly a great entertaining film. I'm going to say it was the latter.
I've had it up to here with typical US RomComs and loved the twists and how the plot rolled. If you're ready for some fun Spanish slapstick with ridiculous romance and like watching men cry after clothed encounters you'll really like this.
It's a bit long, but like any good story they are trying to hit every character. Not your typical ending-- all personalities stay in tact.
Conditions to Watch: With friends, if you once dated / married an emotional man, if you are tired of American stereotyped reality TV, in a playful mood.
