The Witcher (2019)
They ruined everything
Season 1 was flawed but a great beginning, season 2 was average but could lead to some thing new, season 3 is the worst piece of television I have seen in my entire life and I have seen my fair share of reality tv garbage like the Kardashians and thought what am I doing with my life. But lying here on the sofa with the credits rolling by, I can't contemplate the fact that people were paid thousands of dollars to write, direct and produce this mess. Who green lights a script like this? Nothing makes sense, nobody's motivations are clear and it all leads to nowhere. With a tv show so full of action, it's insanely boring as well. The last season of GOT feels like a coherent show in comparison to this. I feel very sorry for Henry Cavill as he must have died a thousand deaths in making this. If you're thinking of watching this, just don't. I wish I never bothered.
Red Notice (2021)
Dumb action movie
Yeah the title says it all. That's just it, a dumb action movie. Do you want to shut your brain off and mildly enjoy some action scenes devoid of any logic or physics for 2 hours? This is the movie for you. You get Ryan Reynolds being Ryan Reynolds as well.
De slag om de Schelde (2020)
Forgot to write a backstory for the characters
The movie follows multiple characters and some of their storylines interject like you've seen a bunch times before but in this one it kinda felt disjointed. They never really take the time to develop the characters, so you end up not caring what happens to them. This makes some scenes that should have been very impactful and powerful for their respective character come of as unexceptional and dull. At no point was I sitting at the edge of my seat and this is unfortunate because the historical story behind the movie itself is quite interesting. It's not a bad movie by any means just doesn't draw you in like it tries to. So in conclusion, worth a watch but don't expect too much.
He's All That (2021)
Bad movie, weirdly enjoyed it
Don't expect anything from this movie. The other reviews are very right that the acting is bad, product placement, forced social media, weird dancing... At times you feel awkward just because it's that bad. But strangely enough when you just shut your brain off completely. You can still have a good time. I know I did.
Black Widow (2021)
not great, not terrible
Don't expect too much from this movie. Very skippable movie It has its moments during the first half of the movie. The final act I do feel the movie kinda falls apart. Way too much CGI and lets forget something like physics exist. The stakes are also not that high since you know, Natasha will make it through this whole ordeal because of Endgame. Yelena is a nice addition to the MCU so I am looking forward to seeing more of her.
The Social Dilemma (2020)
Great message messy execution
You get a great insider perspective on the larger issue of data collecction and what the companies do with your data. How the developers and engineers think to make you spend more time on the platform and really capture your attention for longer and longer durations of time. This is all greatly explained by the interviewees and in this format the documentary really shines. However between the snippets of these interviews there are these acted out scenes to illustrate the effects of the concepts that were just explained. These are just awful. Poorly acted and to much on the nose. Also to show how the algorithm works they to put this actor with different hairstyles and put several versions of him behind a desk, like in the movie inside out, to control your actions and make you watch the content the program wants you to see. This felt more like how you would explain all this to a child. It insults the intelligence of the viewer by adding this. If it were just the interviews it would be much more powerful and would have easily gotten a 9. Still worth a watch just skip those scenes in between if you don't want to role your eyes to much.
Jack Ryan (2018)
Entertaining but flawed
Let me start with that John krasinski is a great casting choice. He really plays the part well. The problem I have with the show that it's trying to be clever with hightech modern warfare like drones, satellite tracking, facial recognition,... But it complety fails at being believable. Many professionals, police officers and soldiers, act like amateurs in combat situations. Their tactics are just so amateuristic that it kinda ruins the show a bit. It's decently entertaining though.
Iron Fist (2017)
Meh
I am a big fan of Daredevil and Jessica Jones. Luke Cage was also alright but not as good as the first two. But I have to be honest this is quite terrible. It's badly written story wise and the lead isn't convincing. The action scenes are OK but after seeing daredevil they seem a bit amateuristic at times. It also doesn't make senses sometimes. In one case the iron fist has such a hard time beating one low level thug and a couple of scenes later, he beats up a group of highly trained "expert assassins". And for a guy that spent the last 15 years controlling his emotions and mind he is always upset and acting irrational. Also what a dumb character they made the iron fist into. That probably bothered me the most, how dumb he is. But I would still advise you to watch it, or at least part of it so that the upcoming series defenders might be more easy to follow.
