This was just horrible, like most reboots.

The problem with this reboot is that instead of focusing on making the characters and story more compelling as well as giving it a new and exciting twist. It just panders to social justice instead, by shoe horning as much so called "diversity" as possible. The whole argument about it being a "kids show" is irrelevant because from everything I've seen, the only people who seem to be commenting and posting pictures of it everywhere are adults aged 18-40+. Being a person of color myself (Filipino) I have no problem with a diverse show but this was just done so lazily with subpar animation to boot, there's already a show that handles a modern adaptation of a powerful princess and that's Star vs The Forces of Evil. I even tested by letting my niece who is 11 years old, watch the first 3 episodes of She-Ra and her reaction to it was just sheer indifference. She then kindly asked me to let her watch Star instead but I had to tell her that the latest season wasn't out yet and she still preferred to rewatch the old episodes of it than this new She-Ra cartoon.

Basically a lot of missed opportunities with this show. It could have avoided mediocrity by focusing on the characters and story beforehand and then adding diversity but instead, did it the other way around and now it's just a badly done Steven Universe clone.

Warning: Spoilers
This show started off with promise, the first 3 episodes were a bit shaky but it started to get better from there on. It was building the dynamic between the two main characters well, as they went around dealing with supernatural events but went straight downhill after episode 9.

I mean they just pulled a fast one, making the show center around boring bottle office episodes instead as well as throwing a wrench into the budding partnership between Max and Leroy by making Leroy reveal that he had slept with Annie. No prior build up at all with absolutely no chemistry, just "oh yeah bruh, we banged after getting drunk" then having Annie disregard all the previous episodes where she was obviously into Max by just saying he was the only one flirting and shifting her interest outta nowhere to Leroy. They also didn't care to explain what happened to her douchey boyfriend who appeared in one of the previous episodes or what ever happened to Max's wife? I dunno, these recent changes just left a bad taste in my mouth, it was like everyone went "well we got cancelled so might as well do anything we want" and just threw all plot consistency into the gutter. Overall I'm still giving this a 5, since like I said I did enjoy the first 9 episodes and at this point I'm just sad to see what became of the show in the end.
