Lift (I) (2024)

Fun, big, crazy, cool and wild
13 January 2024
This is why movies are made. Just pure completely insane, unrealistic fun. I want Lift 2, 3 and ... 7... Great cast, crazy wild heist with multiple twists in all directions. Intense well made special effects and action sequences. A fun range of odd characters, nasty villains and cruel government officials. Beautiful shots and landscapes. Luxury high-tech that probably does not or could not exist in real life. Non stop high speed just for the hell of it.

Is this the best movie ever made? Of course not. Is it the best heist movie ever made? No, it is not. BUT, non of that matters, because it is made with that light weight glint in the eye, tongue in cheek way that you just buckle up for the ride and go along with it. It is entertainment folks, it is not supposed to be artistic or realistic, its not supposed to be deep and dark. It exists only for the best of reasons, to give you 2h of uncomplicated joy. And THAT, it most certainly did.

Willow (2022–2023)
8/10
Willow brings all that was good with it and merge it with all that makes it better today.
27 January 2023
Willow is a great show, with all the fun and spirit from the original movie and much more and further beyond.

The cast, both the new and the returning, are amazing and fun and fully dedicated, and the characters they portray are all fun, interesting and unique in their own different ways.

The scenery is gorgeous and the action and FX is superb, but best of all is the humor and twinkle in the eye that the original movie had at its essence is also in the new TV show.

I also love what they did with the end credits of each show, both music and art.

I truly hope we get to see a volume 2 and 3 of this saga. It truly deserves it.

Love it when a movie truly delivers beyond ones expectations
13 June 2021
I did not expect anything really, and I knew very little of this movie before started watching, but I was only a few minutes into it when I found myself well hooked by the great performance's of the leading actors. And as I get drawn deeper and deeper into the unfolding of the story and the characters, I got truly submerged in an amazing telling about some amazing human beings and their life struggles and achievements.

When it works well, I love theatrical works like this, where the dialogue and the convincing delivery of said dialogue carries the story to its fullest, without a slew of subplots, sub characters and a vast range of sceneries. And this story works very well, indeed.

The actors and the director did a great job with this script and I can truly recommend it for its theatrical values alone, but on top of that you have a story that moves and a message that needs to be told, over and over again, still today, maybe more today than ever.

A great movie experience and a great human experience.

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice (2017 Video Game)

In some ways and amazing game worthy of an 8 or 9, but too emotionally heavy
3 May 2020
I have to recommend this game, due to its beautiful graphics and extremely well acted main character, but I must admit that it was too dark and grim for my taste, and even so emotionally draining that I could not play very long each session. I finished the game, but the feeling of being satisfied with have succeeded to beat the game was over-shadowed by a much stronger feeling of relief that it was finally over and I could leave that relentless darkness behind.

Amazing Cast telling a very important story
3 March 2020
Charlize Theron has done an amazing work with this movie together with all the other wonderful cast and crew members. It is a very important story and message and I hope the world will change accordingly in the years to come, and that all those responsible for the ultimate disrespect of women and humans will be dethroned once and for all. The makeup is outstanding, and well deserved of its Oscar win, such an amazing job in transforming the actors into the real life people seamlessly. Kazu Hiro, the lead make-up artist is a true wizard. It is in a sort an origin story for the wonderful movement of #metoo and similar that followed and I for one wish it continues in strength and speed until such behavior depicted in the movie is all but a bad and foul memory of the past and nothing more. The story is gripping and well told with every amazing actor bringing their A game to the table. I want much more strong female-angled story telling like this to come.

Don't pay too much attention to the loud negative minority.
24 May 2019
The show final episode was great, all in line with the over-all show and also very much so with the books. Almost everyone I know loved it.

Just stumbled over this lost gem
20 June 2018
I really enjoyed this movie, that I have never heard about before, even though I watch a lot of movies. It must have been extremely poorly distributed for me to miss it, especially since it actually has quite good ratings. It has humor, message, talent, attitude and after thought. It might be 16 years old, but it still MUCH better than some of the stuff that is made today. It puzzles me that I have never heard about it, considering the amount of big actors in it. But better late than never. Don't let this slip away, see it you too!

I just love this movie beyond words
30 March 2018
I don't know what to say really... this movie has everything I look for in a family movie, and then some. Laughter, excitement, tears and that wonderful little fellow, Paddington, that has been with me in my mind since I was a little child and who just melts my heart. The team and the cast behind this movie do Paddington such justice that they deserve all awards and celebrations for decades to come. I hope there will be a Paddington 3 and 4 and keep going til the end of days, I will never get enough if they are made with the same spirit and love as these first two. Thank you so much Paddington movie crew for I wonderful job, jolly well done.

The best of the recent Star Trek films
8 November 2016
I must admit I am not in any way a Trekkie, but I have seen quite a few of the the Star Trek movies, and in my opinion, Star Trek Beyond, was in many ways celebrating what Star Trek is all about and having fun with it in a very entertaining and respectful way! I want more in the same spirit! All parts of the film was to my liking, the CGI and special effects, the actors and their acting, the story and script, the quirky funny jokes, the SciFi tech, the hints back to the old films and Star Trek crews, the suspension, the new characters, the villain and his brutal attacks. Maybe for hard core fans of a certain Star Trek era, this movie is not what they wanted or expected, but to me it was brilliant!

A movie that puts focus on the real threat (for a change)
26 October 2016
This movie is really powerful and put all light and focus on the largest threats of our time the "white supremacist" movement, and it delivers well with a tight script and good acting and intense emotions. Daniel Radcliffe is doing a great acting job, as always.

Usually I do not take the time to write a review but after seeing so many racist, fascist. white supremacist, Trump-voters, Islamophobics (and other morons) commenting and reviewing this movie with their BS opinions about "the white race", I thought I had to contribute with some reality checks.

This is a good movie, that both entertains and gives you the creeps when you realize that there actually are people like those in the movie out there for real.

Dirty Grandpa (2016)

Probably the most unfunny thing I have seen this year
12 May 2016
It's a real low for De Niro and Efron and I can not in my wildest dreams understand why this movie got green light... I can laugh at funny sexual jokes, but this was at a level of 5 year old's. Complete waste of money and the actor's and my time... unless the actors actually found it funny, and in that case I must admit I am a bit surprised and disappointed. Besides the large amount of bad jokes, stupid, unfunny characters, an appalling backstory and completely flat non-engaging character developments, the writing is also completely worthless. There is nothing really wrong with the actors performances, maybe even better that one would expect considering the material they had to work with. Maybe they all had a good time making the movie and getting a few laughs at work, but the result was no laughing matter, I am sorry to say.

This is storytelling at its best!!
1 April 2015
This is one of the best movies in years. It has everything from tears and laughter, action and suspense, drama and tongue-in-cheek, beauty and amazing design, amazing FX and animation, Great direction and spot on acting. I am not saying this only because I loved Paddington since I was a kid, but because those who made this movie knew exactly why Paddington is such a lovable character, and not just made him justice but really amplified his greatness too. It is a movie for everyone, because it is so full of various layers and different hidden overtones. In its core it is a family slap stick, but in every sentence uttered the script hides messages between messages of love, friendship, kindness, embrace and understanding, and most of all to let go of fears. I loved this movie! I truly did!

Pacino is Hilarious
4 March 2012
This is a typical Adam Sandler comedy, just the way I love it. Crazy, stupid, heart warming and very funny. The low ratings are not fair at all and definitively does not mirror the true value of this flick. And this is the main reason why I felt I just had to write a review for this movie. If you like Adam Sandler movies, you will like this one too indeed... but most of all if you like Al Pacino you will love this movie. He is great and so funny. I just love actors who can make fun of his own image and Pacino does it like the master he always is. Also Johnny Depp and other cameos invite you for some nice laughter. if Sandler is your cup of tea, then this one won't disappoint. I loved it!
