Demons (2009)
What's the problem?
After Merlin came to an end my wife and I were delighted to find that Demons adequately fills the gap left by that series. Once again I find that the whiners and moaners have come out of the woodwork with comments about poor SFX and ripped off plot lines and once more we find those smart asses who, without actually checking their facts, bleat about incorrect parts of the script (Mina & Jonathon Harker's son Quincey for instance. To all of them I say get a life, it's an entertainment - simply remove your brain, sit back and enjoy it. If you don't enjoy it switch channel or turn your TV off and get some exercise. I shall continue watching and enjoying. Someone wrote that Ruby is 'hot' - so she is but Mina smoulders. I even like Mr Glenister's portrayal of that miserable sod Galvin.
Merlin (2008)
Brilliant brain-out entertainment.
My wife and I love this series and are delighted that there is to be a second helping. I have to laugh at the people who say that it is inaccurate as the whole thing is myth and conjecture anyway. Just enjoy it for what it is a great piece of escapist TV. If you think that you know about Arthur I would suggest that you read Bernard Cornwell's "Warlord Trilogy" it will make you completely rethink everything that you thought you knew. However, I digress, the series was well made and well acted. Colin Morgan plays the part of a young and inexperienced teenager perfectly, Tony Head is exasperating as the pig-headed Uther and Katie McGrath is the feistiest Morgana as well as being totally captivating (I think I've fallen for her which is crazy as I'm nearly 60 and married). The story lines are good and the special effects are no worse than I've seen in many films and a lot better than some.
Bones (2005)
Love it
My wife and I love this programme and are feeling quite lost now that the series has ended. We really hope that the next series is well into production and will be on our screen soon. The characters are great and the story lines interesting if, occasionally, a little bizarre. The long running gag of Brennan's father keeps you wondering if the Feds will ever get him or if he'll be proved to be a good guy all along. Will Hodgins ever make Angela an honest woman? Who knows but its fun to watch! Will they ever catch the 'Gravedigger'or has he yet another part to play? All these questions need answers and I am a very impatient guy and desperately want to see how it all unfolds.
Eureka (2006)
Great TV
There are very few programmes that make me set a reminder and this is one of the few. Unlike many pieces these days I actually like all of the characters, even the bad ones. Each character has a distinct and recognisable characteristic which you get to know. The female cast are stunning to look at, in particular Erica Cerra who plays Jo, but that only means she is my favourite and does not detract in any way from the others. There is a wry tongue-in -cheek quality to each episode in what is really a send-up of advanced science. Last night I watched the final two episodes of series one and I pray that there will be a series two and beyond that.
