Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood (2019)

BORING...BORING...BORING...ACTION!!! I greatly enjoy Tarantino films but after all the hype, this one fell flat.

Over two hours of watching Brad Pitt chauffeur Leonardo DiCaprio around I was ready to give up. However, the final fight scene in the last 30 minutes of the movie is quintessential Tarantino (so at least watch that). Overall, the cast is AMAZING, the acting is AMAZING, but the plot sucks.

I still don't understand Margot Robbie and Emile Hirsch's role in the film. I'm sure there is a deeper meaning to the film; however, I watch movies to be entertained and I was severely disappointed. Do yourself a favor and just watch the last 30-45 minutes.

Ad Astra (2019)

SLOW & DUMB

I made it through half of this movie before I fell asleep. At first I thought this was a sequel to the movie Space Cowboys, with many of the same actors (spoiler alert Space Cowboys is better). The plot is very slow to develop but to keep you on the edge of your seat, there are moon pirates and blood-thirsty space monkeys.

I was going to try and finish it but after reading reviews that echo my view of the movie; I'll pass. Save part of your life, pickup a hobby like basket weaving or go have a root canal, as it would be better than wasting time on this movie.

The Wrong Missy (2020)

B-Movie but a lot of laughs

I had pretty low expectations going into this movie. However, through the first 45 minutes I laughed a lot. There are a few more in the second half but of course, they have to conclude the story. If you like silly humor by Adam Sandler, Will Ferrell, etc, you will probably enjoy this movie.

Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation (2018)

Disappointing

I loved the first two movies but this one wasn't nearly as witty. There are some funny parts but the story is blah-ba-blah. If you are a fan of the first two movies you should check this one out but lower your expectations.

Highly Entertaining

I'm always up for a good sci-fi movie; however, after the critics ripped this movie to shreds it fell down my watch list. I don't know why I listen to critics, they typically do not enjoy the same movies as I do. I found this movie refreshingly entertaining with action, romance, and drama mixed into one. I do feel they probably could have expanded the film a little bit and utilized Laurence Fishburne's talents more. I do feel this would be an excellent movie to take in by yourself or with a significant other.

Ghostbusters: Answer the Call (2016)

#TERRIBLE

This movie had the initial hurdle of attempting to remake a classic film in Ghostbusters (1984). I generally like all four female cast members and find them funny (SNL, etc); however, the script and directing for this movie were TERRIBLE and didn't allow them to shine. There were a couple of times I laughed a little but it fell short in terms of a "comedy" with this cast. On a side note, I did find Chris Hemsworth's performance rather entertaining and funny; it was nice to see his comedic side opposite of the Thor movies. Overall, I do not blame the female cast, the script and directing are to blame; ultimately, I would skip this movie and save two hours of your life.
