Forbidden History (2013)
Unwatchable if you have a brain AND cannot find this amusing
Pseudo-historic, non-scientific sensationalist garbage where non-experts, non-intellectual spew their garbage. Most of the times I avoid them but just today I decided to give them a chance because there was a topic about a famous German executioner Johann Reichhart, a person with an interesting story I was familiar with. I expected the episode to be over the top, wild, sensationalist and so I prepare myself to endure some stupid statements. But...I couldn't force myself to watch this for more than five minutes. Right from the start, they wanted to present this man as one of the worst monsters that ever lived, they instantly switched to Hitler's era and let mostly average but disturbingly uneducated people to drag on with their wild claims and stupid ideas about how life in Germany was during that time (who cares?. I stopped watching after a woman with bellow-average intelligence started making one irrelevant and silly statement after another with no end in sight. If Hitler's isn't involved, then it isn't interesting, right? 1 star for demonizing a man who had the most unpleasant job ever during a time where such a job was normal (in most of the world) and the method of execution the most humane option available. He didn't deserve it.
The Strain (2014)
Season 1 Review
This series started so promising that I was convinced that I am looking at a masterpiece but everything went downhill fast and the finale of season 1 felt like cold shower. I am not interested in season 2 at all. Clichés, plot holes and stupid characters ruined the whole thing for me.
Here is an example of why this show isn't great (very minor spoilers here): there is one utterly annoying "hacker girl" character who pretty much manages to take down THE ENTIRE INTERNET with her LAPTOP. Yes, you've read this right. When someone mentions something like that in TV series like this one, you would expect a whole building full of sci-fi supercomputers and a team of dedicated, super talented experts who agreed to do something previously thought impossible. . Instead, here you have the same old "our viewers are stupid and won't notice anything weird" thinking. "Strong" hacker woman destroying the internet with a laptop....I literally facepalmed or cringed whenever that hacker girl (whose name I can't even recall) appeared on screen. 5 seconds of google is enough to reveal that taking down the entire internet would be almost impossible and I am sure that the average person already assumed that, as I did. But a hacker girl did it alone...with her laptop.
If this is not enough to convince you that this show gets stupid very soon, then I don't know what will.
