The Tragedy of Macbeth (2021)
I am not a lover of Shakespeare nor Denzel Washington, but WOW.
It must be 50 years since I read Shakespeare's Macbeth as a school student. But those lines just kept coming back to me throughout the movie, especially the soliloquy after the discovery of the queen in act 5 scene 5. Tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow ....It was a light bulb moment for me, and a philosophy I hold, but I could not, until today, recall the source. Denzel played Macbeth with understated passion. Thank you Joel Coen for the direction and Bruno Delbonnel for the cinematography.
The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency (2008)
Emotionally enriching, absolutely cracked up at times, lovable characters.
I know this series is very old now, and the chances of the series coming back is regrettably most unlikely But I could not resist looking it up to see if by some miracle there was ever a second season made.
Disappointingly not.
I've seen so many really good TV series but my heart is always there with the ladies in the No.1 Ladies detective agency.
Please Like Me (2013)
Another GREAT Australian series well worth the watching all the way.
Josh is an everyday guy learning about sex, love, life and responsibilities. He is only slightly effeminate and there is really no clue where this is going, it's an exploration of emotions and gut wrenching relationship issues. Draws the viewer into the new age world of today's young adults. Explores the generational cracks and their impact on the ones least prepared to shoulder them, till challenged. And everyone has their own challenges here. All gets sorted by the intuitively intelligent Josh. So very real. Emotional, endearing characters with nothing pretentious about them.
Fresh faces, great casting, and you will love the characters, everyone has their story to tell, and you get to know them all well.
Great icons of the Australian TV industry also bring their talent, experience and professionalism to the fore as support characters, making this another Aussie TV success story like Offspring or Sea Change. I hope ABC keep this one going all the way. Love it.
