Tokyo Vice (2022)
Strong Storytelling
Very impressed with this show. The story unfolds very gracefully in each episode, and they all end with enough mystery to have you hooked for the next one. I'm shocked there hasn't been a large crowd raving about this show. But then again, most gems remain hidden.
If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power (2021)
The Devil's in the Details
I've studied a lot of theology, and I know plenty well about pagan rituals and symbology. This film was riddled with it. For my sake, I stopped watching it at the halfway mark.
This was a sad mess. I'd like to give my credit to the costume designers and makeup artists. Everyone looked stunning! Even the demons/witches.
As someone who was raised in faith, watching this film was difficult. I hope more people are able to spot the evils in this. Halsey made it very clear who's side she's on. Pity.
The White Lotus (2021)
Mike White at His Best!!!
I remember watching the trailer for this on Instagram and having no idea what it was about... that said, watching this show has been my greatest surprise all year!
The writing and direction in this show is SUPERB! Awfully funny and wickedly smart! They really picked the perfect cast. Everyone is perfect in their roles and the characters are all so believable.
Very excited to see where this show ends, and absolutely expecting this one to be nominated for several awards. Kudos to the cast and crew. You guys knocked this out the park!
Harley Quinn (2019)
Was NOT expecting to like it this much
Wow, this show has blown me away. I played it the first time to have background noise in the house, but the writing in this show is superbly bonkers! I had it playing while cooking and (admittedly) burned my food from not paying attention. I couldn't help but stare at the TV while cooking.
The voice actors are all amazing! I especially love Bane and Clayface. I ended up rewatching the first four episodes and finishing the first season with my girlfriend. This is the funniest show we've seen in some time! What a treasure!
Robot & Frank (2012)
Pleasant Surprise!
My family and I like having movie nights and we weren't sure what to watch this time. I'm not sure what made us choose this movie, but I'm so happy we did!
What a great film! Very creative storytelling that never got over the top. We called a lot about the characters, and the story still had some heart. Beautiful movie with an interesting plot.
We knew nothing about the film before watching it, and I think that made us all appreciate it more.
Magic for Humans (2018)
I don't think I've ever rated something a 10
I'm almost positive I've never rated something a 10, but this show is fantastic!! Never smiled so much throughout a show or had so much fun watching one! Netflix has outdone itself this time!!!
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)
My Honest Review
I watched this movie twice. The first time I saw it I rated it an 8 out of 10. Now that I've seen it again I give it the full 10 stars it deserves. Critics shouldn't always be trusted. This movie was very VERY well made. The visuals were stunning, the writing was actually really good (I don't know why people are complaining about the script, it was one of my favorite parts about the movie), and the acting, WOW, the acting was perfect!
Affleck has made an incredible performance as Batman and the suit was very nicely put together. The tone of the movie was as dark and beautiful as DC's comic books and Luthor was really evil. Some people might argue that Lex acted a lot like Joker or that he was too young, but when you grow up extremely rich, beaten by your dad and never fully gaining his love and approval, that sort of thing can make you socially awkward and hungry for approval and power.
Snyder is a visionary. The first time watching this, I didn't understand all the dream sequences, but watching it the second time helped me pay better attention to the script and catch all the clues and references from comic books of what was going to come. I'm very excited for DC and I think they did an excellent job with their 2nd installment of the current series. Marvel has made over 10 movies already, and truthfully, they didn't get good till movie number 8 or so. I know people are used to the happy teamwork thing from Marvel, but I hope DC doesn't change a thing about how they approached this movie for the next films. Perfect film!
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014)
Incredible Film
I've heard a lot of bad things about this movie and I'm not sure why. I just watched the movie last night, and i must say, it was great! I mean sure, Spiderman jokes more than enough this time around and the drama seems to take up most of the movie, but that's a lot how the comic book was as well. I think the story was very progressive this time and there were moments where I honestly felt like hugging the person sitting next to me while watching Peter and Gwen go through their love life. The special effects and camera angles were very neatly put together and I thought the action was pretty amazing too... no pun intended. Overall, it was a fun film to watch, it had its laughs, possibly a few tears, and an interesting storyline. If you have a love for superheroes, don't wait any longer to watch this film. I honestly enjoyed it very much.
Kick-Ass 2 (2013)
This movie was pretty awesome. Not gonna lie...
I loved the first movie and really liked this one. I'm rating it an 8 just because I feel like it could have been a better movie if the characters were as serious as the story line. The movie had a lot of good laughs and I really enjoyed some of the humor in it, but the actual story and reason behind why everything happens in the movie is so much more serious compared to the jokes that the directors tried fitting into the movie. I mean, I get it, the movie's supposed to be a funny view to the life and struggles of ordinary people who want to be heroes. But if they really tried hard, this movie could of been almost as big as x-men or even the Dark Knight. Great action for what I was expecting though, and I really liked the blood involved with the humored violence. i kinda felt like I was watching a Terantino film. Must watch for sure, especially if you liked the first movie.
Elysium (2013)
Best Action Movie I've Seen In a While!!!
This movie completely caught me by surprise! I watched it cause I got free tickets and I'm so happy I did. I was expecting some Transformers sort of robot action movie with little to almost any kind of story line. The plot was very impressive and the action was great. It was very adult-like and had a lot of scenes that I'm glad they didn't sensor. It made the movie seem very realistic even if it's completely fictional and really made me cheer for the characters, both the good guy and the bad guy. I recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys a good action movie and a good story and doesn't really mind blood. Blew me away completely!
The Wolverine (2013)
Good, but I guess I expected better...
I'm a die-hard superhero fan. I love the x-men movies and enjoyed the first Wolverine very much. This movie was really enjoyable too, but I expected it to be a bit better. The action was fun just like any other x- men, but I didn't feel a connection with any of the characters like I did in any of the other movies. Some parts of the movie also seemed too predictable and a bit cheesy. I don't wanna bash on the film, cause I enjoyed it and thought it was good, but it could have been much better. If you like superhero movies as much as any other geek at heart, watch it. It has really cool action scenes and you might even laugh a few times. Just try going to the theater with low expectations, or at least a lot lower than what I expected. You might enjoy it more than I did.
