Angels in America (2003)
Really bad art
This pompous catastrophe of a miniseries reminds me of a modern art piece I saw in Boston once years ago. It was hundreds of clothes hangers, tangled and stuck together randomly. There was no point it was just a complete mess, and I really didn't understand how anyone could possibly consider it worthy of being in a museum. Watching this, was a similar experience. I have never cringed so much in my life. This will only be enjoyable for maybe 3-5% of the population and alienates the rest of the world. The characters are completely unlikeable and some of the lines are just nonsense. I would not recommend this to my gayest friend. Go watch Hedwig and the Angry Inch instead and thank me later.
The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
I warned everyone
What was that? FYI when a lot of your reviews begin with that question you know there are problems. When this was first announced I tried to remind everyone of how bad the last two Matrix movies were. I tried to remind everyone how Reeves couldn't act his way out of a a paper bag. No one listened. Everyone was too excited like they had forgotten how absolutely awful the second and third movies were. I still remembered though. Well those movies were gold compared to this train wreck.
Six Feet Under (2001)
Unlikable
The only positive that can be said about this show is some of the acting. I'm in the middle of season 4 at the moment and can barely continue because of all the pointless sex/kissing scenes and I'm not just talking about the gay ones either. I'm not a Puritan by any means but in a TV show it all seems like very pointless filler. It's like the writers were completely burned out or hungover and couldn't think of anything original to say so they just added a hook up scene every ten minutes and suddenly I'm watching a soap opera. Eventually it gets really boring and cringe worthy. I had the same problem with House of Lies as well. Cable seems to insert sex scenes just because they can and not because they work organically. I really don't understand the extremely high rating.
The Simpsons: Bart vs. Itchy & Scratchy (2019)
I'm just glad it's over.
I've watched (and own) every episode of this show but this will be my last season.
Like much of this season there's an abundance of "wokeness" but so much so that they forget to add any jokes. Furthermore, the current writers need to ask themselves if they are writing these episodes for the fans or for themselves. Judging from the reviews no one else seems to understand what they are doing.
Avengers: Endgame (2019)
Disappointing ending
I really wanted this to be the best ending ever but I was so disappointed. The other Avenger movies were very enjoyable but this one was different. Like Dr Strange said there are so many ways this could have ended. Unfortunately, in order to close the many arcs the story just felt forced, poorly paced with many many liberties taken that should not have been like the "storm trooper wielding a light saber moment" with Captain America. They also manage to get every woman in the film in the frame at the same time looking real tough. Do we really expect that 3.5 seconds of supposed girl power to inspire anyone? Give me a break! It's very condescending IMO. Also I felt like other characters were not properly utilized. Technically the film looked really good and the acting was great. I'll watch it at home once and probably never again. It will still make tons of cash and a lot of people seem to be satisfied.
Dumbo (2019)
Remake it, don't rewrite it
This was an embarrassing remake of Dumbo.
First, the hue or color tone of the movie was so unnatural, almost campy, like I had stumbled into a showing of Batman and Robin. It distracted me constantly reminding me that I was at the movies watching actors instead of being part of a story. Secondly, the young female actress did not help that situation at all. She presence was very distracting. Her acting was wooden and unbelievable. She was a carny's kid, living in a circus in 1919 but in every scene, she looked like she had just gotten out of the shower. It was hard to watch.
Finally, who is green lighting these Disney's screenplays? Fire all of them! This movie was called Dumbo but it was about so many other things the elephant and the real story that was told in the original was lost or buried. I was looking forward to these remakes but if they continue to rewrite them I will pass on the rest.
John Dies at the End (2012)
I died at the end
Seriously this is the worse movie I have EVER seen. I've seen my share of bad movies but this is much, much worse than anything else I've ever seen in my entire life. I don't know what I just watched because it wasn't anything even remotely coherent or close to acceptable in any way shape or form.
The "plot" (for lack of a better word) was a complete mess and all over the place. Honestly, a fifth grade pot head could write a better story with more substance than this....BLAH! Even for a B movie the special effects were dreadful and the acting was appalling.
To those of you who gave this a 10 star rating (or anything higher than a 5 at best) please seek out professional help. I can't believe some of the reviewers actually compared this to Stephen King. Hilarious! What are you people smoking? King has written better material on his toilet paper. To the rest of you who haven't seen this I suggest that you avoid it like the plague. I got it for free and I still don't feel like I got my money's worth.
