Brutal (2012)
Much better than I could have ever imagined
After reading the storyline it sounded like a good idea for a movie but I have to admit, I was somewhat put off by it's rather low score. But, on reading the reviews people had taken the time to post, I came to the conclusion I would give this film a go. Well am I ever glad I did. I love mobster style movies and this one is very good at what it does. Obviously low budget, but don't let that distract you from what is a well written and mostly well acted movie. The lead actor does especially well and should go on to bigger if not better things. Yes there are a few faces you will recognise, but for most it, the actors you don't know do a very good job. It was not the most original of movies but, then again, what movies these days are original. I also felt that it could have been maybe another 15mins in length to show a few more details about the main characters person life. But, all in all I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and would recommend it to anyone who cares more about a films plot than it's budget, especially if they enjoy gangster style movies.
I Am Legend (2007)
I expected a lot more!
Well, I just finished watching this movie and the first thing I had to say is that although 28 days later copied its ideas from the book 'I am Legend', it was a far better version than this movie. This film lacks any empathy with the characters, the vampires are not scary, there are no shocks and I really didn't feel that Will Smith carried this film. He has been a fine actor in other roles, but I think this one was just a bit too much for him. I have not read the book so cannot comment, but was the end of this movie just tacked on or is that how the book actually ends? Such a pity, I went into this film with high hopes and left just wanting to watch 28 Days Later again instead. Well, you can all go and make your own mind up, but like a lot of blockbusters today, don't believe all of the hype.
Death Proof (2007)
Not just a bad Tarantino film, but a really BAD movie all together
For me, this has to be one of the worst movie I have seen all year. I really looked forward to watching it, more so than Planet Terror. Yet, where Planet Terror used humour to get through the horrific parts, Tarantinos film just appears to be the musing of a disturbed mind. Well done to Zoe Bell, she was without doubt the star of the movie, but even her great stunt work and plausible acting could not lift what is a dire film. The car chase was nothing spectacular and we have all seen much better before and will surely see again. The film failed to work on two fronts, the characters where to shallow for a thriller and there was not enough action to keep petrol heads happy. So who was this film aimed at? Clearly not me. Its such a shame to see where Tarantino is now. Pulp Fiction was great, Dogs was just a rip-off and Jackie Brown was dull. Kill Bill was half a good movie and half a let down. This, is just a let down.
Snakes on a Plane (2006)
Terrible
In this world there must be only a few things that could be worse than being stuck on a plane filled with snakes. Unfortunately, one of those things is watching a movie about being stuck on a plane filled with snakes. I enjoy good 'cheesey' films. But this is one of the worst movies I have ever had to endure. Its acting is terrible, script?? was there one and special effects are dreadful. Not only do the snakes look fake, but they look really badly fake. You can see it a mile off. There are exactly no scares, no shocks and no cunning plot twist. Its not fun, its not funny and its certainly not good. It is a bad bad movie and I truly pity the souls who enjoyed it.
