a-ha: The Movie (2021)
A wonderful band, with a rich history.
A wonderful band, with a rich history. Far richer than many people most likely think. A band that has taken a lot of crap especially from the american music industry and music media, where the label only focused on the looks rather than the bands songwriting and composing abilities, insisting on turning them into a boyband. After 8 years, the band gave up on the US, but has recorded, released and toured til today and continues to do so. They have now released 11 albums. The most recent one in 2022.
A very missunderstood band.
The movie gives an insight into a complex friendship with it ups and downs, twist and turns and th e flip side of becoming famous too fast.
The only negative thing about the movie, is that Take On Me is played way to much. . They should have included more songs from their catalogue of over 115 songs in the movie, to give an even more insightful presentation of the band.
a-ha: True North (2022)
Wonderful combination of music and visuals
A wonderful combination of music and visuals from A-ha. Set in the North of Norway, close to the arctic and with added. Arctic Philharmonic orchestra.
A-ha keeps the artistic and creative flame alive, combining great music, thoughtful lyrics and wonderful visuals.
A band that started out in the 80's and that has continued to this day, celebrating 40 years in the business, leaves us with a wonderful celebration of the dramatic nature, people and homeland.
The band members who are now in their early 60's leaves us once again, wanting for more.
Hopefully this will not be the last we hear and see from A-HA.
The Sound of 007 (2022)
A missed oportunity - dissepointing
This was a missed oportunity - dissepointing
Nothing about the contributions of Bill Conti, Michael Kamen and Eric Serra. A-HA is not mentioned at all. Very dissepointing. In fact, the music from the Timothy Dalton era is almost not mentioned at all. I don't understand the point of this project then. If you gonna make a project like this, about the music of one of the most important franchises in the world, then every artist should have been included.
Now, it's a well known fact that A-HA and John Barry did not get along and that the Bond producers clearly don't want to aknowledge A-HA's contribution at all. It has been that way for 35 years now. But this was petty, especially to A-HA but also as I mentioned to the other artists and writers/composers that were not mentioned.
They should have added another 30 minues / 45 minutes
A missed opportunity.
Down Periscope (1996)
Funny movie
I really don't understand all the bad reviews here. This is a fun film with a great cast. Some people are just to serious to enjoy a good happy and fun movie.
Be Cool (2005)
Don't understand the bad reviews for this one
Don't understand the bad reviews for this one. People seems to just be too serious these days. This was a fun film with an all star cast. You just can't go wrong with Uma Thurman, John Travolta and steven Tyler in the same film.
The Larkins (2021)
Wonderful cast and atmosphere.
I must say I am amazed at all the negative comments here. It's difficult to compete with the original, but I don't think that was the intention. This is a remake and a very nice one at that. I have watched the one from the 90's and this one and they both bring about the same comfy and cozy feel and warmth. I am always sceptical of remakes but I must say I was happily surprised by this one. Wonderful cast and atmosphere.
22 July (2018)
A poor description of events
This film is a very poor description ov events that day and has nothing to do with facts. The way the youth at Utøya is described and what the gathering is is not correct. Furthermore the movie spends very little time explaining what actually happend and has a very simplified and hopeless approach to the subject at hand. The production crew ignored what they were told about this event and leaves the response from the perpetrator hanging without a rebuttal.
Lilyhammer (2012)
Norwegian show not American
A lot of people seems to think that this is a US produced show ... It's not ! The show is a Norwegian idea and written, directed and produced in Norway by a Norwegian company. It's not an original American / Netfix produced show. Netfix only bought the rights to show it in the USA If you look at the list of production crew, you wont see any American names: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1958961/fullcredits#cast Does anyone here really think that any multi zillion dollar American production studio would spend money on a series in Norway, with mostly Norwegian actors, language and culture ? get real ! The show is great by the way
and to "eastcoastguyz" comment of 5 May 2012
"This is a spin-off from The Sopranos regardless if anyone wants to admit it or not. Same character with a different name. The show had promise but it's ruined by excessive subtitles that are totally uncalled for. In Norway they also speak English, so there is no need for the subtitles for a series that's target is the American audience"
The show is first and foremost targeted to a Norwegian audience. Netflix has become somewhat involved in season 2, but it is still targeted first and foremost to the Norwegian audience. The Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation ( NRK ) has the first hand right to broadcast the series and decides how many seasons etc. Unless NRK decides to not want to continue with the show, that's how it is.
The series has been sold to over 130 countries world wide.
As for Language and subtitles ... It would be a silly series, if everyone were to speak English. English is not the main Language in Norway and while it no doubt would be comfortable for an English speaking audience, it would look and sound totally ridiculous in a series made from Norway. It would be unnatural. We live in the real world up here North ...
