Late Night with the Devil (2023)
Late Night with the Devil is a Refreshing take on the Found Footage Genre
I loved Late night with the Devil. I have already watched it twice and want to watch it again. Definitely one of my favorite movies of the year and in my top 10 horror movies of all time.
I felt like I was watching a late night talk show in the 70s. The actors were so good and believable. There is very little gore in this movie. Some slight suggestive language is used. The music was an added bonus. I found some new songs to listen to from older days. The girl who plays Lily was amazing. She did such a good job of acting creepy and yet childlike at the same time.
One critic I have is the effects used for the lighting was cheesy looking, but I would say it did look like an older style of effect, and not this modern crap they use now.
Jeepers Creepers: Reborn (2022)
Not worth the time
I hardly ever review movies even the ones I love. I feel like I need to for this one. Jeepers Creepers Reborn was complete trash and I'll get into why. I can't remember the last time I hated a movie so much. If you want to see it I suggest you wait till you can for free.
Okay SPOILERS ahead!!!!
If you want to see this without being spoiled you've been warned. I feel I can't review this without spoilers.
1) The acting was okay for the most part but there were some very bad actors in this movie. Had this been good that would have taken away from the experience. As it was it didn't really matter.
2) The Creeper looks like crap. I don't know if part of it has to do with it being a different guy playing him. The makeup looked so wrong and crappy. He looked so much better in the orginals. With the age we live in I expected a lot more from the makeup job and effects.
3) This is pretty much a slasher. I'm not really into slashers and that is part of the problem. The other part of that is these movies aren't slashers. They're just horror. This isn't how Jeepers Creepers is supposed to be.
4) There is randomly a white bird with red eyes that kind of helps the Creeper. This is never explained and did not make any sense. It did not add anything to the movie.
5) The other movies are more open. What I mean by that is the characters are on the road or moving to different locations with the Creeper following them. They don't really encounter the Creeper till they get locked in a house and the rest of the movie takes place here.
6) There were scenes where they tried to add comedic moments. They tried to make the Creeper funny by doing things like pointing ect. It makes more sense if you watched it but this should not have had a comedy feel to it. The Creeper is supposed to be terrifying.
7) The main girl is pregnant and has just found out and yet the Creeper for some reason wants this baby. This is never explained and made no sense. The baby would barely be anything yet so what could he want or need from it.
8) The main girl has visions/dream like moments. Again not explained and did not make sense. She somehow knows the Creeper wants her/the baby because of these moments. We see weird flashes of the people who set them up (locked them in the house) in these flashes. It's almost ritual like scenes that never end up happening.
9) Her friend she talks to on the phone towards the beginning of the movie (the Creepers first victim) is not really mentioned after this. She tries to call him once and then nothing.
I think that is everything. If I remember anything later I'll update this. I will not be supporting this if it gets sequels. Which with the responses I've been seeing is highly unlikely. I'm very sad and disappointed. I was really hoping that they would do justice to the franchise. 2 stars just because I somewhat liked one part of the movie.
The Haunting of Molly Hartley (2008)
Just kind of silly.
This movie was overly dramatic. The whole thing was predictable, and the ending didn't make sense, or have a satisfactory conclusion. It did have some really cool angles. One of the scenes in the bathroom was filmed at a fantastic angle. I have seen this movie once before, like ten years ago. I decided to re-watch it, wanted to see if it was just young age that made me dislike this movie. Even after all that time, I still feel the same way. This movie wasn't the worst thing I've ever seen, but I won't be watching it again.
Biohazard 4 (2005)
Great Game!
This video game is the best in the series. Leon Kennedy is back! There are new characters (of course). I think this is the funnest to play from the series as well. The zombies are different, which is nice. I got tired of the old ones. These are more exciting. It is sort of spaced into three parts. The village, the castle, and the island. All together there are 6-2 chapters(you will know what I mean when you play). The hardest creature to defeat(for me) was Salazar. Though Saddler and Krauser were hard to. Ashley tends to get annoying. I hate it that she has to follow you so close. It makes it difficult to move sometimes. Some of the things Leon and Salazar say to each other are so funny! Like,"I have sent my right hand to dispose of you!" -Salazar. "Your right hand comes off?!" -Leon. "Say whatever you please. Die you worm!!!!" -Salazar. It is funnier when you know what is going on. It is nice to, that once you finish the game you get to watch the video's as much as you want!(you will see what I mean). This is definitely the best Resident Evil game ever!
The Return of Sherlock Holmes (1986)
excellent
This show is wonderful. The actors are great in there parts! They stay close to the books, they do change a few things(it is almost impossible not to). Jeremy Brett is an amazing actor and so is David Burke is really good too.Out of all the movies and shows(trust me I have seen a lot)this is the closest. Poor Jeremy Brett died while making this show in September of 1995. He had a heart problem. The sets of the show are excellent. Jeremy worked really hard to master Sherlock Holmes mannerisms,he would carry a folder around the set with info on Sherlock Holmes. If you would like something else to watch on Sherlock Holmes, you might want to try the old Basil Rathbone movies. They aren't that close to the books but Basil makes a good Holmes.
Jeepers Creepers (2001)
scary but with a bad ending
This is a really good movie, but the end is a let down. It is really scary the first time watching. The main characters are Justin Long & Gina Phillips. Justin Long is amazing as Darry Jenner. It's just sad that he is killed off at the end. Gina Phillips is good in her part as Darry's sister Trisha Jenner. If you want to watch a truly scary movie, watch this. I would not recommend watching the second Jeepers Creepers though. It is terrible made. Justin Long has a bit part in the second one. The rest of the cast is terrible, the script is terrible. They are making a third one,it doesn't come out till 2013! So fans have a long wait. I read that some other people wish Justin hadn't have been killed off too. Then there were some who thought he was a gay (not literately) actor. I definitely think he is a great actor.
Slither (2006)
very funny
This is a great, funny movie. I do admit it is silly at times. Nathan Fillion is amazing in it. It has other great actors. it isn't really scary, more funny. So if you want a scary movie, this is not it. I would suggest watching it at least once. If you want another silly movie like this, "Ghosts of Mars". It also has some good actors. It has Natasha Henstrige,Ice Cube,& Jason Stathon. It has more action than this movie. I would give it about six or seven stars. Another silly movie is "Blade Trinity". It has Wesley Snipes,Jessica Biel,& Ryan Reynolds. It isn't scary either. It is rather stupid. Not really funny silly like the other two, but really boring.
