The Beach Bum (2019)
Mathew has a gas dressing up excentric, and hogging camera time.
I will not write 180 words so don't read anything in the quotes. I just copied it from some other poor soul.
There are people who love Mathew. I always felt he was highly overrated, and a very lucky actor.
That said, it was the director who blew it.
The entire movie is watching B actors act excentric. Kevin Hart is a C- actor though.
The director told the prop department to dress Matt like a dude from Burning Man on every shoot. Then he told him to do his one liner bull chit that most of you find endearing?
Who's the worst actor in this film? It's a toss up. They are all terrible. In Saudi Arabia, the writer would be strung up.
"Beach Bum is a movie about Moondog. He's a staple in Key West where he spends his days getting high, drinking PBR and occasionally writing. He's a poet by profession but dedicates all his time medicated. He has a wife that has a lover and a daughter that settled into marrying a man so dull he makes a Mormon seem exciting.
Beach Bum is director Harmony Korine recent attempt to highlight a character that colors outside the lines. If you're familiar with his work, you know that his movie pace can be belaboring such is the case here.
Matthew McConaughey playing a Stoner is not a stretch. Those expectations rema"
Bobby Brown: Every Little Step (2022)
Bobby Brown matured, and I'm glad.
I stumbled on this reality series. Drugs took a toll on Bobby, and tragically his children. I was shocked his son died too. Bobby Brown realty show is a lot like The Osbornes.
I do feel like cops made Bobby Brown's life worse. Yes--that whole, "Lets get the successful black entertainer." thing cops do. I saw him repeatedly blow into a alcohol detector wired to the car. Does he need this--maybe?
I wish him, and his family well.
(To those struggling with substance abuse, I feel your pain. Many Americans have been self medicating forever. If the current All or Nothing way of controlling your vices is failing; try cutting back on everything. Water down your wine. Don't ever buy hard alcohol. Drink low alcohol beer. My point is keep the vices under control. Sometimes the All, or Nothing approach doesn't work. I don't have any advice on the harder drugs other than taper off.)
Ukraine on Fire (2016)
Yes--there are two sides to every coin.
1. Watch the movie. It's dull, but shows there are two sides to every argument.
2. Ukraine has been in conflicts for Years.
3. Ukraine has been corrupt forever.
4. I found the next two minutes after 19:30 thought provoking.
5. As of today, we USA have given Ukraine 1 billion dollars.
6. That billion could be spent at home. We have a huge Homeleness problem.
7. I feel sorry for the Ukrainians that are moral, and uncorrupted, but this is Not our fight.
8. I'm beginning to wonder if we should have taken Poland into NATO now.
9. I don't want WW3 with a nuclear entity, and especially for a country that has been in conflict for years.
10. Watch the movie, and see what you think. I forgot about all the corruption in Ukraine. That billion dollars needs to be strictly accounted for. My hope is it all goes to the people, and the people's weapons, and not to some guy in a track suit.
11. You want to cry? Go to an American homeless site.
They Came Together (2014)
I feel they started off serious movies, but after reviewing the footage; they decided to cover their asses by calling it a parody.
1. If it's a parody of love story movies--see it after six beers, and 1/2 tube of glue. Oh yea, it would be better in you recently had a TBI.
2. A member of the tribe managed to spend 3 million on this.
3. Could be the worst movie ever.
4. If your significant other likes this, be prepared for a miserable life.
5. It's almost so bad, it might be worth watching, but after doing number 2.
6. Rudd is not a leading man ever. Amy is a friend of a friend in any movie.
7. I still think the director/writers/producers viewed this, and then decided to throw around it's a parody?
8. Then again what do I know? Americans will probably love this hack?
Choppertown: The Sinners (2005)
More about friendship
1. I wasen't in the right mood to watch this movie, but it is good.
2. As I stated in the title, it's more about friendship.
3. Rico is definitely a character.
Touching Home (2008)
Two narcissistic Marin twins try to make a movie
I read the book and grew up in Marin--so I was eagerly awaiting this movie. The movie has four glaring problems, but it solved a philosophical dilemma, for myself. It might prove B.F. Skinner's theory(disregard-sorry--bad humor)? The four glaring problems:
A. Formulaic B. The twins acting C.The twin's direction. D. The predictable script(this is where Skinner comes to mind) (Yes A and D overlap)
I'm not going to rattle on and on about a movie that could have been watchable, but I need to say something. The twins are Not natural actors, and needed a Strong director, but guess what--they directed themselves. They(the twins) even managed to make Dourif look like a hack actor. His part was so overacted, it was painful--reminiscent of Simple Jack). Harris did a good job as expected, but the awkward, shameless self-promoting of the twins was nauseating. It almost looked like they were thinking this movie would turn them into Brad Pits? I can't imagine what the principal financial guru was thinking watching this ego trip? After reading the book, he probably didn't care, but his money would have been much better spent on the homeless in San Rafael. The scenery was beautiful, but that's why people pay a lot to live in Marin. If the twins happen to read this take away one thing: YOU ONLY NEED TO TELEGRAPH ON STAGE! My sincere condolences for your father. The industry always needs Stage hands. Oh yea--if your ever given money to make a movie--write another book. That would really be a miracle, but stranger things have happened in Hollywood?
