Barbarian (2022)
Make Sure To Get Front Row Seats!
I've been waiting to see Barbarian for awhile because the trailer for this film has been one of the best I've seen in a long time because it scares you while also not telling you what's going to happen in the movie. The film relies a lot on tension and does so in such an expert manner with absolutely no cheap jump scares in sight. Another positive point is how straight to the point the movie is. It starts off quickly and there is little to no fluff in the film which I prefer. This film also does something relatively new in the horror film genre by dividing the film up to involve different characters perspectives which I actually loved. I recommend you get the front row seats like me and my gf did because I think it's worth it for that first big scare. You're able to feel extremely uneasy with the sadistic theme music and the up-close experience which I love when I know I'm walking into a scary movie. Lastly, the film was written and directed by Zach Creggers who did work mostly as an actor in some small projects which really makes me curious as to how many original great scripts are not being made out there because of someone's credentials. I really recommend you go see this film in its first week!
The Invitation (2022)
A Disappointing Addition to Vampire Horror
The trailer for this film peaked my interest because it made it look like it was going to be like another horror film I liked, "Ready or Not." The Invitation however ended up containing a slow buildup to the actual climax and the film ended shortly after. While the film was building up to the whole vampire theme reveal, there were only a handful of cheap jump scares and the story itself was not all that interesting. The huge negative point of this movie is that once this movie does get interesting with introducing vampires, the movie then ends pretty quickly. Adding on to that, the films ending is one of the most cringiest end scenes I've seen in awhile. I don't want to spoil it but you'll see when you get there. Overall, I had relatively high hopes for this film but ended up not being able to enjoy it all that much because the scares are too little and not all that effective.
Purple Hearts (2022)
Ruined By Overly Sappy, Predictable, and Cringy Writing
The only reason I saw this movie was because I recently got out of the Marine Corps and all of my friends were sharing the trailer on Facebook as a joke.
Starting off, the acting is extremely stale and at times comes off as a student film (especially during the opening bar scene). The movie also milks the whole Marine topic a crazy amount of times. Making movies about the Marine Corps can be done in non-cringy ways (like Jarhead) but it seems like the writers just talked with a couple young Marines about how they interact with each other and amplified the cringe tenfold. This movie follows almost every Marine Corps trope such as civilians rolling their eyes when a group of military men enter a building, how Marines hate to be called soldiers, and how they display frat house behavior in public. The worst of all is how they constantly shove the fact that their serving on peoples faces. They literally say, "I'm serving my country, what are you doing?". All of this comes off as really cringy mainly because of the young romance theme to it.
Another point in the movie that I strongly disliked was how the main actress, Sofia Carson mainly sang covers of already made popular songs. It came off as lazy to me because I think she only sings one or two originals songs out of the five she sings in the movie.
The saving grace for this movie is that it is actually pretty accurate when it came to the military standard. All the uniforms used were accurate and everyone had haircuts, except for the leading man which I guess I understand. Many people tend to not notice the minor discrepancies when it comes to military uniforms in movies but it does take service members/veterans out of the movie when it happens. This movie was also fun to watch with my GF because it was just entertaining to watch a movie that has that cringe factor.
The Contractor (2022)
Your Standard Action Flick With A Few Differences
I got drawn to seeing this movie because I recently got out of the military and can relate to being contacted by hungry contracting agencies. I am also a huge fan of the Chris Pine and Ben Foster duo because of their amazing work in Hell or High Water.
The film starts off slow in order to introduce you to Chris Pine who is playing an aging SF Medical Sergeant who suffers from de habilitating knee pain. As seen in the trailer, Pine gets kicked out of the Army with no benefits so he is forced to accept a contracting position from his close friend (played by Ben Foster) with a shady organization.
This is where the real action starts and it was really enjoyable honestly. All of the tactics used by the team when they were tactically clearing buildings and when they were involved in firefights were very accurate. I do not want to spoil anything but the first firefight scene in the film honestly hooked me and surprised me with how intense it was. Morality also comes up a lot into the film because innocent lives get damaged in the process of all these operations.
I really enjoyed this movie but I can't put it on the same level as Hell or High Water because there is not just enough of those special things in this film. It had great action but it lacked that creative character development and original plot. I would definitely recommend this film over Morbius (which is also out this week) and also to any action movie fans.
The Night House (2020)
One of the Best Horror Films in Recent Years
I was not expecting a lot from this film when I first entered the theater, and I'm glad to say that I was surprised with how invested I was into it. Rebecca Hall is a big reason as to why the film works. Most of the screen time is placed on her and she is able to effectively portray a widow who is slowly losing her mind as she continues to live in the lake house where her husband committed suicide. The film also has around 4-6 legitimate jump scares, but the reason the film works is that it creates a constant ominous feel throughout the whole movie. Additionally, there also may be some plot confusion when watching the film and at times I wasn't able to fully understand what was going on, but absolutely all questions are answered once you get to the credits so please keep that in mind. Overall, I hope whoever's reading this review gives it a chance because this film deserves more success than you're generic cheap jump scare movie.
Rating: 8/10.
Draft Day (2014)
A First Round Pick In My Book
I was able to catch an advanced screening of this movie and at first I was disappointed that this film would be the first one I ever saw before it was released but I kept an open mind and ended up thoroughly enjoying it. Now before you see this film, know that it has a completely different tone than "Moneyball," this is much more comedic, does not involve that much footage at all of football actually being played, and is extremely cheesy/clichéd but there are a ton of laughs to be had to balance it out. The entire environment of the draft was captured, I remember sweating and being so anxious last year when my team was up to select their pick and I remarkably I felt the exact same emotions here. There is comedy in most of the scenes and most of the laughs don't come from the main stars like Costner or Garner but by the supporting cast. The factor of romance was luckily not that big in the film, it is weird though to see Costner and Garner together, there doesn't seem to be any chemistry or connection. Keep in mind that I'm under the effect of the movie being free, but I would have paid for a ticket too. This film is open to viewing for everybody, personally I like watching football but someone who doesn't will easily get it, the movie does a good job of explaining everything. "Draft Day" will make you leave the theater with a smile on your face and a light heart.
Non-Stop (2014)
Liam Neeson, Please Don't Stop
This film left me leaving the theater in a complete sweat because of all the intensity from the get-go. Even simple things such as a character taking a breath will force you to question their motives and it is basically a 100 minute roller coaster ride. Liam Neeson has reassured the public here again that he is both an action and drama star with a bit of comedy flair. The movie shouldn't be written off as a dumb and forgettable action flick because it's the complete opposite, there is a lot of entertaining action but is also a top ranking film when it comes to it's characters who all have multiple emotional layers to them, even ones in minor roles. This is then able to drag you into the scenario which will not let go until the very end. The story is actually very smart throughout, without making you feel as the script was trying to cheat or make plot holes. Personally, the cinematography was quite impressive mostly because of the constricted space allowed and also the dark complexion given to the picture. I am shocked to say that this is most likely the best film of 2014 so far that contains a twist that is not at all clichéd which is a breath of fresh air.
Pompeii (2014)
Jon Snow vs Jack Bauer With a Volcano
Pompeii is an action packed visual feast, that contains a form of acting that I would expect from any other disaster flick, wooden and bland but it is forgiven because no one goes to these type of movies for the performances. Kit Harrington shows that he has a future in the movies but strictly for action films only. The film's biggest positive is it's fight scenes in the arena, you can tell that much time was put into the choreography/training but during these scenes there are many quick cuts back and forth which will easily leave your eyes in a blur at times. The story is nothing special, it is a formulate vengeance plot where little of romance is involved which is a positive. Now I hate to hear this complaint but this film could have really taken an advantage of an R rating by being able to push the levels of blood or gore which would of brought the audience into the time period.Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje's character was a surprise to be by being the most charismatic element in the entire movie and providing some comic relief. I was always a huge fan of Kiefer Sutherland but his performance was filled with cheesy lines and stale acting that consists of only of one emotion. The real highlight is the volcano itself, when it erupted it sent shivers down my spine and the effects were beyond amazing. As for the director, Paul W.S. Anderson, this will most likely be the highest quality movie he'll achieve. Overall, you should take this as a 90 minute joy ride that will entertain for every one of those minutes but also leave your mind as you exit the theater.
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 (2013)
Holy Guacomole! This is a Fun Time!
I went into the film with high expectations and they were partially fulfilled. Compared to the first movie, this film goes for a lot more attempts at getting a laugh and surprisingly misses a little more times too. An audience can only take so many food puns before it becomes generic, but the kids will obviously never get tired of it, trust me. This movie is by far the quirkiest animated film I've ever seen with so many new and involving characters who each have their own hilarious persona. At times throughout this fun high calorie adventure, it seems as though it was rushed in it's story which is really evident in its ending which does feel hurried. All the humor really relies on are food puns and the mannerisms of the characters which are enjoyable but your left wanting that one big laugh. The animation however is top notch with such beautiful environments and the fluidity of the characters movements are a real treat. Overall, the is a well intentioned flick for kids that was a little but too light on the comedic side.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Pilot (2013)
A Not So Super Pilot
I wasn't expecting to tune in to this show and I'm pretty disappointed I did. As all pilots, it starts out with the introduction of all types of characters but the problem lies in the fact that there is nothing really there of any type of characterization, only annoying and smug persona's. The huge error occurs with the show's leading man, Clark Gregg (Agent Coulson) whose charisma in the Marvel films is dismantled here, all his jokes fall flat and he has a straight face throughout the showing which is obviously not able to engage you or come up with any enjoyment. The cast is basically filled with all unknown actors which I don't have a problem with at all, I actually prefer it only when they actually pull it off. All performances are bland and executed with barely any emotion, this destroys all likability for them. The only time I was really was entertained was when the special effects came into play but their still nothing to brag about, the references to the Avengers will give you a grin but there are too few moments. I will give this series another chance next week but I will definitely lower my expectations which is a first for any Marvel program.
Rating: 5/10
Sleepy Hollow: Pilot (2013)
A Strong Pilot Masterfully Blending it's Visuals, Action, and Mystery
I have been waiting for this show for months now and I got exactly what I was expecting, a visually stunning show that not only relies on it's scenery but it's story as well which looks like it'll be able to be stretched out to a lot of episodes with the potential of not being generic. It starts off with a high octane energy and action sequence that leave you in "aww." The Sleepy Hollow story is taken to a modern setting which actually wouldn't have been as strong as if it was in an environment in the past, personally I see more episodes and interesting characters if the setting wasn't messed with. The duo between Nicole Beharie (Abbie Mills) and Tom Mison (Ichabod Crane) is obviously not fully formed but it seems that it'll be able to play out right because of each character's internal conflicts that aren't at all cliché which is a rarity in t.v. These days. The tone of the episode was completely serious and just a touch of comedy could have been able to progress an already enjoyable ride. Overall, I will stay tuned to future episodes mostly due to the fact of visionary director Len Wiseman's directing/involvement and of course how couldn't you be interested in a show created from Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman (Star Trek Franchise writers).
Riddick (2013)
A Testosterone Filled Actioner
I am a huge fan of Riddick and now of this trilogy, which is sent off with a crowd pleasing bang. This film starts off fast and furious, mixing its action and outstanding special effects effectively. This film differs from the other two installments by adding more of a comedic factor into the story and also the character of Riddick seems unfamiliar at times by being, well, too comical and down to Earth, this transformation compares to John Mcclane's change of character in Die Hard 5. Surprisingly, this specific action flick hold's your attention completely throughout it's 2 hour runtime which seems to get more rare in films throughout the years. Even though the film obviously has a more limited setting and it's plot may look thin on paper, this flick is able to pull it off due to different and likable characters as well as visually stunning environments and effects. The hard R rating is pushed to the brink here, this is by far the most brutal and bloody outing from the Riddick trilogy and this just adds to the already entertaining adventure.
The Butler (2013)
A Biographical Triumph That May Be a Bit Dry Sometimes
I got tickets to see this film a day early because this has been on the top of my watch list for months and I was not disappointed. Lee Daniels' The Butler contains all the elements you want in a bio-pic with spot on portrayals and an efficient script that smoothly goes through all the time periods. The film is a true journey that may have you at the brink of tears or have you joyfully laughing. At times it tries to hard to make you feel any emotion, the movie falls victim to a formula where there is a tragedy about every 10 minutes and it only becomes a cliché rather than being effective. On the other hand though, you practically get oozed through Cecil Gaines's eyes which will simply astound you. The movie has been branded as a "Black Forrest Gump" which actually is pretty accurate except that the main character, Cecil Gaines, isn't as charismatic or as fully characterized until the near end. It was a minor disappointment to see that the numerous presidents throughout weren't that involved in the film as I would have liked but their respective portrayals were jaw dropping, not only in their appearances but also with their realistic performances and mannerisms. James Marsden representation of J.F.K. is by far the closest you can get performance wise, Marsden captured both his youthfulness and good heartiness as well. This may be a little dry sometimes and I was somewhat exhausted near the conclusion but the real emotional peak is at the end. Lee Daniel's shows his dominance both dramatically and emotionally in this enjoyable yet still flawed film that you should definitely take a look at.
Elysium (2013)
Neill Blomkamp's Reassurance of His Dominance
Elysium, this summer's most awaited sci-fi flick proves to be a winner. Compared to District 9, this film focuses mildly less on story telling and more on it's action scenes which are high octane and will grab your attention simply with it's cinematographic appearance. Matt Damon shows that he has the chops to have a dramatic presence while containing all the proper traits of an action star, being likable but serious at the same time. The plot is less original and more simple than District 9 but there is still a fun experience to be had. Sharlto Copley represents his versatility by being a serious character in D9, a zany/charismatic one in the A-Team, and now a gruesome villain here. This futuristic story allows much ridiculousness and trust me there are many far fetched instances which it uses to it's advantages. Your eyes will be put in a trance with The film's "iconic" special effects and with a solid script blending with climactic action, this has a formula for a huge summer blockbuster. Now at times this film may fall victim to style over substance but never long enough to wreck the experience and it can be enjoyable dumb fun. There is an under-dog tone to this flick as well with Earth being under Elysium, this adds intensity and much more emotion which will easily give thrills. It's extremely fresh to see that whenever the film shows it's comedic side, there are no cheap laughs but it rarely is comical, it's pure action and far more brutal you would think. Neill Blomkamp reassures the public that he is a sci-fi force to be reckoned with.
2 Guns (2013)
"Make it Rain!"
This summer action flick is an instant crowd pleaser with it's masterful blend of humor and action. Wahlberg and Washington both prove how comedic they can be, Wahlberg gets most of the laughs with all his pitch perfect deliveries and mannerisms. These types of films rely on chemistry and Denzel and Wahlberg surpass expectations. The plot is extremely layered and is not as hard to understand but also not as dumb as most people conceived it to be. This movie is filled with action sequences that are not at all generic and also contains twists you won't expect. Denzel does have his share of laughs but he is mostly in charge of the dramatic portion of the film while Wahlberg is nearly all fun. There are no dumb or cheap shots comically which is what makes this film so fresh compared to others. This is one of the most original summer films so far with an extremely fitting climax that will fill you with thrills throughout and will easily leave you with a smirk on your face long after you leave the theater.
The Lone Ranger (2013)
The Mildly Wild West
I was really expecting this film to revamp the Westerm genre but it was really toned down. It was very innovative by making Tonto (Johnny Depp) top billed due to the fact that I believed Armie Hammer couldn't have held this film together himself, surprisingly the Lone Ranger doesn't have any unique quality compared to Tonto, Depp's wacky persona is really taken advantage off. Comedically, there were too many cheap laughs with a lot of dumb slapstick humor, at first it was funny but at 2 1/2 hours the laughs quickly dampen. The movie is extremely prolonged and could have been cut shorter by at least a half hour, it's a huge no-no when watching a movie ends up being a chore. There is still a lot of stuff going for this film though, the productions/environments will blow you away and the hard work shows whenever there is any action sequence, these scenes is where the real fun is. The detailed environments bring the wild west alive in this movie but when the story actually goes underway, it ends up settling it down rather than bringing it to life. There are numerous stories going on at once that it doesn't allow you to be effectively involved each story. Like most people, I have high expectations for a Gore Verbinski film, I expected more creativity and it took itself too seriously at times but as always, Verbinski and Depp are still able to have fun.
World War Z (2013)
"Every Human Being Saved is One Less To Fight"
This film was quite an experience, it oozed the audience into the actual scene and did not let you get out until the credits started rolling. World War Z gets right to the action from the very beginning, and it creates the most hectic environments you can possibly think of. Brutality-wise, it's obviously not as gory as zombie flicks such as Dawn of the Dead but it fully pushes it's PG-13 rating to the extent. Throughout the movie, it blends it's genre of horror and action masterfully and even though there are a few laughs, it's overall tone is pretty serious yet still entertaining. The "father" role seems to fit Brad Pitt nicely and the trailer may have represented this film as if it was brainless but as far as zombie movies go, it uses it's brain. You will be jumping out of your seat not because of fright but because of how tense the scenes are. The score goes along with the numerous moods in the film. It's completely original, to every single detail, even the zombies(appearance and behavior are different from the average zombie). Overall, this isn't a movie but better, it's a journey that will contain surprises and above all fun.
Man of Steel (2013)
Redefines The Meaning of The Word "Epic"
Man of Steel, one of the most anticipated movies of the summer ends up being one of the most memorable and above all entertaining visits to the theater you'll have this year. Critics bash the film for it's generic special effects but it ends up being able to co-exist with the characters and gives your eyes an amazing treat once the action starts. The script does not contain as many laughs as you would expect from a Marvel film(there are still a few chuckles to be had) it focuses on the plot which is a positive thing, and where it fails in comedy, it makes up for in action. This film seemed to be able to out-do it's DC predecessor, The Dark Knight Rises, in intensity due to the fact of the genius Hans Zimmer whose score was able to completely embody every single scene with different tones, from triumphant to depressing. The fight scenes were as fresh as can be, with inventive choreography and cinematographic wise, the old stylish look highlighted every single detail. Emotions flare up not only to the characters but also to the audience, it's able to reflect the mood. There was no flaw in the performances but will still most likely not be awarded any Oscars. The franchise has taken a turn for the better, there is not one second you will be bored and with over an hour of all action the story and the stunts will be able to off-set. For a first time Non-American Superman, Henry Cavill is able to bring justice not only to Earth but to the Superman franchise itself.
Now You See Me (2013)
The Closer You Look, The Less You'll Actually See
This film surprised me not only with it's intense action scenes or the originality of the plot but by the comedy being able to co-exist with all other elements. My attention was immediately captured by the film's energetic intro which will not lose you through the entire movie. This isn't a type of flick where you really need to turn off your brain, at times it has mildly ingenious tricks which will easily please you. The main thing this film exceeds at is the way it keeps the audience guessing the conclusion/twists, it will work your brain actually tricking you in the process. The movie takes advantage of Eisenberg's usual "smart-ass" character, Woody Harrelson also shines, raking in most of the laughs. It truly is magical, in it's twists and action sequences. This is really like a 2 hour Las Vegas show without the Las Vegas cost. As a comedy it meets expectations as well as a thriller, it keeps you at the edge of your seat ultimately deceiving you with it's unique yet realistic twist. Overall, this is a fun summer flick that doesn't go for any cheap laughs.
Furious 6 (2013)
Not Out of Milk Just Yet
This movie has all the elements going for it than the previous film, much more emotionally involving because it's moral of family really reaching the audience. This flick consists of intense stunts that will stun the audience as well as surprisingly more exciting stunt driving. Humour wise, they solidified Tyrese Gibson as their comedic symbol churning up most of the laughs. The intro credit scene is as always attention grabbing, with a scene after the ending credits to predict another sequel. This franchise still seems fresh due to all the Fast and Furious films not having generic plots, it is not out of originality/milk yet. There are twists that will for sure surprise you and the performances are in no way stale for a pretty dumb action flick. Even though you've seen all the trailers there are still unexpected shocks. The music score is extremely modern and "hip" that brings every scene alive, I already have some of the soundtracks in my play list. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson again reassures the public for the 4th time this year that he is a force to be reckoned with action star. With a very epic climax it truly delivers high octane entertainment to all of it's hardcore fans. This is an extremely satisfying pre-summer flick that still has a kick-ass future ahead of it.
Star Trek Into Darkness (2013)
Deserves the Star Trek Title
I came into this movie extremely eager to see if this film could outmatch the amazing 2009 reboot and it was able to do so visually, emotionally, and action wise as well. The film's intro is very fast paced and easily grabs your attention with the redefining of your beloved characters, they are obviously more mature and yet still have the same charisma or trait that made you love them in the previous film such as Spock, he is more involved in the story and is also has larger part in the action scenes and it fits him properly. The special effects surprisingly exceeds the original reboot's effects due to them having numerous more enviorments to work with and capturing the smallest detail. Benedict Cumberbatch makes a truly effective villain with his character not being muddled but extremely complex, he is superior to Eric Bana's villain in presence and also acting ability, for a sci-fi action flick, it takes advantage of Benedict's range and general talent. This film is more emotionally involving because this involves an unpredictably more intense factor. The plot may seem like it's been prolonged but it is able to evenly pace itself. The action is actually very inventive with the choreography leaving you in "aww". This film doesn't seem like a complete copy of the previous movie, it has it's own mood that is more risky and involving. This Star Trek outing really does give justice to the franchise and will keep you at the edge of your seat with it's unexpected twists.
Peeples (2013)
A Black Comedy That Doesn't Suck
I was one of the few who probably expected a bit too much from this film but I wasn't disappointed as many were. The plot for the film wasn't anything to brag about and it's formulaic execution doesn't seem to tired out as the trailer depicts. The main element this movie has going for it are the numerous memorable moments, long after I exited the theater I kept playing all of the outrageously funny scenes in my head and trust me there were many, mostly near the conclusion. A real challenge I will put onto you is trying to find an unlikable character, surprisingly every single character is well rounded and has their own personally attractive "persona." It is at times rather mature, it's uncalled for sometimes and the blend between the maturity and silly antics really work together. Performance wise, Craig Robinson played his role with his every ounce of charisma and David Alan Grier is always entertaining in mostly anything he's involved in. Overall, this is a great and light comedy that is an amazing treat to bring your mother to for Mother's Day.
Iron Man Three (2013)
An Appropriate Sendoff for the Iron Man
Iron Man 3 stunned me with it's solid visuals and most of all the recreation of Tony Stark's persona, instead of just a "millionare playboy," he has an emotionally involving background that makes you care and is still pretty snarly but he never gives off a negative vibe. Comedically, it is never overpowered or too weak there are really inventive bits with numerous minor characters being involved in most of it . Each character has their own "moment" such as Jon Favreau, who is a real treat throughout the entire intro. Out of the 3 films this one is ranked right in the middle, the first one was such a surprise that it could reinvent our view on superheroes while the second one completely wrecked Stark's character without a sufficient villain. I'm not going to spoil anything but the villain in this film, The Mandarin seems like one of the most menacing and original antagonists that I've seen in a Marvel film but it could have gone with a serious and still entertaining tone but it ended up going in a more comedic route that is not necessarily cheap but I would of personally preferred more maturity but nonetheless, the film was still satisfying. All of the performances are pretty standard and nothing you would not have expected. The film itself is extremely layered with intensity/risk as it progresses and has a really memorable scene involving a rescue in mid-air. In it's conclusion, it was not as rushed as most people say and it was filled with amazing action, some twists, and a really appropriate send off to this franchise even though the conclusion was not as climatic as The Dark Knight films.
Pawn (2013)
"Who's Move Is It?"
Pawn, is a surprisingly grisly movie that deserves a top ranking with straight to video releases. The performances aren't as terrible as most of these types of films consist of and you really get invested into the characters. For such a film, it's screenplay isn't as full with stale or artificial lines and it actually embodies it's characters. On paper the plot seems extremely stale/generic but with it's execution of a fresh style and simplicity it ends up to transform. Whitaker and Liota's role are really minor roles but it's such a treat to see them in a film like this. The plot is a short term one but the film makes it work by analyzing every single detail, so I dare you to find a plot hole. With an over average script that contains a scene of really smart symbolism, the actors can not really mess it up. Action wise the film does not shy away, probably due to the fact of the directors background in being a cinematographer for the Saw films. For a crime/robbery flick it isn't as brainless as you could have been led to believe and it really captures the scene in a full scale. Overall, the film is an acceptable straight to video release that contains sudden twists, fresh plot, and great character development
42 (2013)
"You Want a Player Who Doesn't Have the Guts, to Fight back?" "No, I Want a Player Who's Got the Guts Not to Fight Back."
42, a biopic that unsurprisingly stuns the audience with it's non-cliché drama, amazing acting from every word delivered to every facial expression, and Boseman's athletic and acting abilities. People who have been worried about the SPECIFIC details of Jackie's life will be delighted to see an amazing copy of his life, with Robinson's stint in the Negro,Minor, and Major Leagues. Chadwick's athletic ability has been tested and he has passed, he showed a spot on portrayal of Jackie's movements/style. The cinematography was actually a sight to see, I'd have to say that during the baseball playing scenes, I would of probably been turned off if it specifically wasn't for this look, it captures the scene back then, while still keep in touch with today's audience. The supporting roles were just tremendous, I don't know if I'd say award winning but Harrison Ford will get notice for this role as Branch Rickey, he captures the charisma yet tough heartiness of Branch. Comedically, the jokes aren't cliché, they're not cheap and Boseman shows his range comedically and dramatically. In conclusion, 42 is an amazing looking film and even though it is rated PG-13, the racial topic isn't too weak or strong and at times they may actually overuse, the "n" word, this film is still one of my favorite bio pics that I've seen in a long time and I hope you"ll enjoy it too, I know the audience did because this was one of the few films where an applause occurred at the end of it and I'm not scared to say that I was a part of it.
