Natchathiram Nagargirathu (2022)
Nonsensical!
There has been enough movies to educate the masses on menial treatment met by people of certain groups. Movies like Pariyerum Perumal, Karnan & Asuran dealt with the same theme in various perspective and gave balanced view for all showing path of upliftment. Dhanush's climax dialogue & Principal's advice in Pariyerum Perumal were the best pic.
However Natchathiram Nagargiradhu cries old rusty goose with deprival of opportunities & oppression by certain people in sphere of theatre arts and aspirational actors. Rene's picky dialogues in pre-title credits scene shows how low the movie can stoop. A decade ago, there was a trend of rural subjects in Tamil cinemas starting from Subramaniapuram having grand run till it was overtaken by pro-Farmers agenda, anti GST dialogues,.. now with themed movies like these, young talents like Ranjith are shooting their own knees.
Shaonian de ni (2019)
A nice feel good movie - 10/10
Melodramatic thriller revolving on the dark side of school bullying & the nerve frightening GaoKao exams.
Accidentally came across this movie while browsing through IMDb. First few mins of the movie was too stressful just by the sight of students sweating day and night for GaoKao (National College Entrance Examination, NCEE) in which 10 million chinese students future education in University depends on the marks scored in this exam.
The perseverance of Chen Nian despite all odds to get into university was portrayed effortlessly.
Bullying, Suicide, Poverty, debt, abuse of power, helplessness at such critical point in life were beautifully presented. Background music was heavenly, especially in the prison & vehicle scene in climax.
The sacrificial nature of protagonist reminds me of Vijay Sethupathi in Ka Ka Ka Ka Po.
Leader (2010)
Most underrated Political drama
One of the most underrated movie in Telugu cinema.
Rana Daggubati's acting was so fluent to believe this is his 1st film.
The roles of Richa & Suhasini were powerful enough to anchor the screenplay rock solid to the storyline.
The deep rooted corruption in our system can push any soul to make deal with devil as a necessary evil.
The way forward is to have Leaders instead of Politicians
Oh! Baby (2019)
Soul pleasing feel good movie
Oh! baby - soul soothing Feel good movie
that pre-climax scene in #Ohbaby was so powerful.. can make anyone sobb like a child
What a wonderful movie! Watch it with your family, if you haven't. Watch it with your Mom if you could.
"Amma da.. Amma da kanna" in @Chinmayi voice does shook our soul
The Tashkent Files (2019)
Must watch movie for every Millennial who needs to know real history omitted in our school books
#TheTashkentFiles What a movie! 10/10
Director's narrative is self realisation to all Indians on how we perceive ourselves with selfishness & blindly kneeling to dynasty politics
This movie may not consist 100% truth, but atleast explains obvious patterns, starting from 74th CAA amending the very basic root foundation of our constitution- #Preamble with "Socialist" word.
True, we don't get to see a lot about Shastri'ji in our history books as he was shadowed deliberately by praising his predecessor & successor.
Also, Ndtv rated this movie 0.5/5, which double confirms that story is authentic 😜
Virus (2019)
Must watch for young adults & teenagers
If any of known young adult is trying to accept society & obsessive with self centric mindset, there can't be a better non medical antidote available in this universe than this awesome movie.
Based on Nipah Virus outbreak in 2018 Summer, this movie brings all those unsung heroes who toiled to contain Bio-disaster.
Characters portrayed as Nurses, Doctors, Dist collector, public health officials, ward men, volunteers, ambulance drivers, politicians, civil servants, union leader, dean,.. were all upto real perfection that you feel like a survivor of Nipah.
Connecting those dots and building timeline to tract index patient was surreal tasks & still remains fresh in my mind.
If there would be a genre called "Anthropology" this movie would claim No.1 spot, forever.
Maya (2015)
Best Tamil horror movie of all times!
Unlike western ingredient of unwanted skin and flesh dominated horror movies, Maya stands out tall with raw acting of Nayanthara in character of troubled wife harassed by moneylenders, rude boss, unfriendly society,.
The who story spirals out only in last 10 mins of the movie which soothes any broken heart. Must watch if your favourite genre is Horror/ thriller/mystery.
Skyfall (2012)
Bond is back with the Bang
Earlier, many of the critics rated the movie as the best Bond film, ever made. They were correct.
Starting from the Roof top bike chase in Istanbul till the sentimental climax, Daniel Craig has shown his poise in each and every frame. The action and stunts scenes were fast and neat. Should definitely appreciate the costume designer for the perfect fit suits designed for stunts.
Unlike other Bond movies, there is a lack of pace in the script as most of the story revolves only in London & Scotland with less importance in scenes pertaining to Shanghai, Macau & Istanbul. But the less, was equated with excellent cinematography and the best direction. Javier Bardem's role as villain was not only elegant, but proved himself with the vengeance on his eyes. The music however is totally different from glossy bond theme, but likable.
All over, the movie was so elaborate and enjoyable, especially the climax. The good news is "Bond is back with the bang." - 8.5 / 10.
The Expendables 2 (2012)
A must watch movie for all action lovers - 10/10
On the whole, there was absolutely no storyline in Expendables-2, even when compared to the previous one.
But the rest is just Mind Blowing. The Director has really picked unseen exotic locations like the Bulgaria caves, the dense fog forests,..
The background score was matching all those "bang/boom/thaw" blows of the entire crew. Disappointed to see no Tom & Jerry fight between Lundgren & Li.
I think Stephen Seagal was the only one left out from this "Hollywood veteran tough guys group". Liam Hemsworth has done his job perfectly, despite of his tiny role. Only God knows from where Norris comes & goes between those section scenes. Unmatchable stunts. The climax fight between Statham-Adkins & Stallone-Van Damme could've lasted few more seconds.
A must watch movie for all action lovers - 10/10
Billa 2 (2012)
Overall its watch-able, at least twice - 7 / 10
Saw Billa II last night (thanks to TC x264 - Pirate Bay) The movie was just awesome. Dint expect a prequel like this blending well with the core story.
Ajit played a one man show like Sehwag's triple hundred in Multan test. Despite of deliberate goofs by the director, the film rocked well. Ajit looked bulkier than Mankatha, but dint disappoint with his style and attitude apart from his heavy-risk stunts.
The background score was really good especially towards the climax. Inspite of even pace throughout the movie, the second half was bit sluggish due to the heavy character building - David Billa in the first hour of the movie. The rescue scene of Jasmine (Parvathy Omanakuttan) amidst heavy snipe cover was an absolute copy from Ridley Scott's psycho-thriller "Body of Lies"
Overall, its watch-able at least twice - 7 out of 10.
