8 hours of my life I'll never get back! I can only warn you
4 April 2024
The show is so uneven and uninteresting. I'd go as far as saying it's one of the most unengaging series I've seen in a very long time. The actors are terrible, except for one actor who gets killed off in the first few episodes. Some of the acting is just plain wooden (for instance the Navy officer). There are a 2-3 thrilling VFX scenes but apart from that the show is very dialogue heavy and a lot of it is just badly written. There are so many scenes that are stretched out for no reason and you could easily fast forward the whole series and still not miss any crucial plot points. Honestly I watched it because of all the hype, that's 8 hours of my life I'll never get back!

Meh..Just average
10 March 2024
I don't get the high rating this movie. It's a just a very average fare that could have been a tv show. The cinematography is nice and the acting is great but the story is the same old "cop trying to solve a mystery" which when eventually revealed make you go "oh okay.. is that all this whole 2.5 hours was about?". Honestly starting to get bored of these police based Malayalam movies, you get a sense of dejavu with these movies. I think with Netflix a lot of producers have realised such movies could be made with a small budget and sold to OTT for a neat profit. Nobody gets harmed, except us viewers, who waste 2-3 hours of our life watching this movie seeing all the positive reviews.

Visually arresting and makes you think
7 January 2024
It's after a long time I saw a Netflix movie that was actually really good. Technically the film is superb - the direction, camera work and the script - simply marvelous! Best way to watch this movie is to go in without knowing anything about it (do not see the trailer) and go for a ride with these characters - it's a must see. The ONLY issue I had with the movie is when Ruth's character makes a very disparaging comment about "white folks" when she's lying in a bed. This can be almost construed as hate speech and I wondered if the makers really need to paint such a "We are all good but they are all bad" statement, and I'm saying this as a non-white person. Other than that this movie makes you glued to the seat and makes you think for a long time after it's over. I'd go as far as saying it's one of the most important movies ever made!

Unfortunately it's not very engaging
6 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
"Society of the Snow" tackles the gripping true story of the Andes plane crash, where survivors battled unimaginable horrors. While technically polished and boasting undeniable moments of raw emotion, the film falters in its ability to truly pull the audience into this harrowing ordeal.

Bayona masterfully captures the desolate beauty and suffocating vastness of the mountain, but at times this visual spectacle eclipses the human drama. The characters, though well-acted, struggle to rise above archetypes - the stoic leader, the grieving teenager, the rebellious joker. We glimpse their inner turmoil, but rarely feel it.

The film meticulously chronicles the physical struggles - hunger, frostbite, avalanches - without fully exploring the psychological toll. The moral dilemma of resorting to cannibalism, a key aspect of the story, feels strangely underplayed.

And that's the crux of the issue. "Society of the Snow" documents the events with clinical precision, but fails to ignite the emotional core. We witness their ordeal, but never truly share it.

Unbearably bad
2 January 2024
Unlike a lot of people I saw S1 to S5 and its really bad. S1 and S2 are just about watchable but the rest of seasons, especially S5 you can tell they just made up the plot and story as they went with no rhyme or reason. Honestly if like me you ended up watching all the seasons you know that you're not watching it for the story or the non existent humour, you watch it see if the show will get better but it simply doesn't, it just gets progressively worse. In the end you're just happy the bunch of people who worked on this show probably made a tonne of money for sitting around and writing the laziest story and dialogues in animations history. Heck I wish I was part of their team, just making up unfunny dialogues and plot points with no rhyme or reason and pocket my cheque. Actually I'm kind a jealous of them.

Unbearably bad!
1 November 2023
I understand Justin is not voicing the characters anymore but I don't understand why the show just got so horrendously boring and uninteresting. I didn't have a problem with the new voice actor but my god the show itself (the writing , story, humour) just became unbearably boring. I found myself zoning out and struggling to even find the motivation to watch the entire series. I won't be watching this series anymore, life is too short, unless they bring Justin back and perhaps there is a chance the show might get better. There were lot of complaints that Justin wasn't very involved in the show, if that's the case then why is the show so bad without him? Something to think about..

Mike Flanagan fan no more..
26 October 2023
Sadly this is Mike's worst series! Don't go by the high ratings on here, its a snooze fest and the worst offense it's just not scary! There are way too many long unwanted dialogue heavy scenes which are absolutely unnecessary. None of the characters register with you and also a dollop of woke agenda that'll make you cringe. Don't get me wrong I'm a huge fan of all the other Mike Flanagan series on Netflix but boy this one missed the mark big time. There is no mystery or intrigue or scare! You sit there wondering why there are so many scenes of people just sitting around and talking to each other about things that has no consequence other than stretch the show that is so thin on story!

Sorry Sujoy....Drishyam did this better
21 September 2023
I was looking forward to this film especially because Sujoy Ghosh was directing this film. The movie is a decent thriller but I don't think it has the wow factor that we've now come to expect after seeing the Drishyam movies or similar shows on Netflix. A lot of us watch such movies for the final reveal in the climax or the twist in the tale, however the twist here is a tad tepid and something we could even see coming. When it's finally revealed you just go "oh okay" instead of "wow" and the movie takes an unnecessarily long time to get there. The actors do a good job and keeps us from getting distracted even when you're thinking "why is this going on for this long?"

Surprisingly touching- but have to wait for the 2nd half
21 July 2023
As the movie started I couldn't help think there was something missing. The emotions and humour felt a bit misplaced or not genuine. Initially Varuns and Jhanvis potrayal seemed a bit off however as the movie progressed and the foreign trip begins the plot gets interesting and the emotions really pull you in and by the end of the movie you might struggle to hold back your tears. I definitely felt a lump in my throat towards the end which I wasn't expecting reading all the not so great reviews. There are ofcourse problems like the humour track interspersed through the film falls flat and leaves a bad taste considering the subject of the film but if you want a film thatll leave you feeling emotional then this is well worth a visit. It also teaches you cherish the people in your life. It's a movie that calls for all of us to be better human beings and to also cherish our loved ones.

Sadly the worst of the series - That Marvel fatigue sets in early
13 July 2023
There are some emotional scenes surrounding Rocket but other than that there is zero emotional connect in the film. They tried to go bigger and better but fail miserably and there is this annoying obsession with cracking jokes in every scene even if it doesnt go with the scene. It's like they've thrown everything they had with them into the film hoping something would stick. At the end you realise there really is a "Marvel fatigue" and you'd want to forget there was a part 3 to the series on the plus side you'll forget the entire film after a day anyway. The worst offence was probably using CGI to animate a dogs face instead of using a trained dog!

Wow ..really enjoyed this. Ignore the negative reviews
8 April 2023
I went in with no expectations and was pleasantly surprised to see a great political action thriller from Netflix. Its a rarity these days that such good shows exist in Netflix that doesn't take us viewers for granted. It's obvious the makers didn't take the lazy route and the standard shows in writing, acting and the action and the execution. I could have easily watched the whole show in one sitting. Special mention to the lead actors - Gabriel Basso & Luciane, their charisma and acting keeps you hooked to the end. I for one am looking forward to a second season. I never thought I'd enjoy to this much. Give this a go, you'll want more of it by the end.

Just Magnificent!
17 March 2023
Saw the entire season over 2 days. Now this is what I've been waiting since Hannibal & White Lotus ended. The show is absolutely binge worthy and the acting, set design, music, direction ..everything is brilliant and pitch perfect! But you need to watch it without reading anything about it. Its a show that needs to wash over you and it will make you think about your own life. Who knew Ben Stiller was such a fab story teller. Its a concept that's never been done before and I like how they have unravelled it a bit for us but yet there are still more questions to be answered. Do yourself a favour and watch this gem of a show! It's that rare perfect show on TV.

Great film until the last 20min
13 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I absolutely fell head over heels in love with this film until the last 20min when one of the characters gets cancer. This felt like a complete cop out in trying to bring in some emotional heft to the climax and help the lead character have some sort of break through. I was shocked that the makers went for this routine ending, considering how breath takingly fresh the movie was until the cancer revelation. I'd have admired the movie even more had they simply portrayed her as a flawed human being who finally gains some kind of emotional maturity. The way it stands the movie is good but it could have been great had they not gone down the whole cancer route.

Why the high rating? This one makes the first one looks like a classic!
24 December 2022
Wow what a fall from grace! Luckily I didn't see this in theatres and waited for Netflix and it became very obvious this was a cash grab sequel hurriedly put together to make some money during the pandemic. To call this a "mystery" is a bit of a stretch. At the most it's a comedic satire with a sprinkling of mystery. Honestly I've seen better mysteries on tv and it's never a good sign when you can predict who did it before the detective finds out the killer..and the sad part is this story is more of "why did it" than "who did it" but even that is a bit meh. You just sit there thinking - Good for those actors and film makers..looks like they got a good pay cheque.

At least 3 episodes too long
5 December 2022
The first few episodes are fun and will keep you thoroughly engaged with all the characters and the mysteries of Nevermore. However around episodes 5,6 & 7 boredom strikes and you realise not much is happening on screen and the writers are trying to stretch the story to last Netflix's quota for 8 episodes so by the time episodes 7 starts you end up losing all the goodwill you had for the show in the beginning. Credit where its due Jenna Ortega and Emma Myers were incredible and keeps you engaged even when the pace slackens and boredom creeps in. This would have been an amazing series had it been shorter but the way it stands its just watchable.

Probably the best episode of AHS along with Aura
13 November 2022
Necro had me squirming in my seat. Its not exactly horror but makes for really uncomfortable viewing. The lead actress is really good and that makes it quite harrowing to sit through as you end up sympathising with her. Ultimately the finale as bonkers as it may seem somehow works. Hats off to the makers and actors for truly trying something new and different. For me this and Aura were the best episodes of the series, and take that from a horror fan aficionado. If you are someone who's sensitive and easily offended this episode will offend you in more ways than one but for the rest of us you'll be shocked and probably feel a bit sad by the end of it all.

Easily Mani Ratnam's worst movie
7 November 2022
The one word to descibe PS1 is "patchy". There is so much bad wire work(you can easily see actors are being lifted with a crane & cable during stunts), badly choreographed stunts, bizarre choice of music and dance choreography..that the only saving grace in the 1st half is Aishwarya Rai's screen presence. She sets the screen on fire whenever she's on. Karthi on the other hand is terribly miscast. His role suited someone much younger & charismatic. Vikram's sadly not on screen much but he leaves a strong impression. The person who disappoints the most is Mani Ratnam. Its his laziest work to date & an amateurish attempt at an epic story probably because he's attempting something outside his comfort zone. This movie needed someone like Bhansali or Shekar Kapur at its helm, who's not over whelmed by the scale of it all and yet deliver edge of the seat thrills.

Nope..didn't work for me this time
20 August 2022
I really enjoyed GET OUT and US but this felt atleast 30min too long. Its slow paced and at parts and I even struggled to understand what the actors were saying. The message that Peele wanted to convey is very clear but this could have been way more engaging. There is 0 chemistry between any of the actors and you don't engage with them as an audience either. Over all expected a better film considering all the glowing reviews.

Stunning visuals - by godawful voice over!
3 August 2022
Micheal B Jordan's voice over is so dry and mono tone and sometimes incomprehensible it ruins an otherwise stunning documentary. Why put so much effort to capture these amazing visuals and ruin it with a terrible voice over ? The person who thought his voice suited this documentary should be fired for ruining this otherwise amazing documentary.

Oh no! Why is SEASON 2 so bad?
5 July 2022
After Season 1 I was so excited to watch S2 but it was like an entirely different show! The humour, acting, story it all felt weak compared to S1. Disappointed!

My God Season 3 was atrocious!
30 June 2022
It started of promising enough but just around episode 5 of Season 3 you realise even they haven't a clue how to make sense of all this. Some of the episodes felt like they were making up scenes and stories as they were shooting it. Wasted 10 hours of my life on this crap.

Possibly the best movie I've ever seen
15 June 2022
No, this is not an exaggeration. I have seen this movie probably around 10 times and I still can't get enough of it. There is so much to marvel at this - the animation, the stunts, the humour, the dialogues , the voice actors..everything is pitch perfect! I genuinely believe this movie is lost on kids..they won't appreciate how amazingly made this film is!

One of the best films of this year.. don't miss it
15 May 2022
Funny, thought provoking, beautifully acted, written and directed. I was laughing one minute, wiping off a tear the next and sitting with my mouth wide open the next. You can watch it as a horror film or a romantic drama or an existential film..it checks all the boxes. Can't remember seeing such a well made film in a while.

Beautiful and Honest...
3 April 2022
One of the best LGBTQ films I've ever seen. The lead actor Tanay is such a find! You feel every emotion he's going through and kudos to the director too for telling the story with such beauty and sensitivity. The only element that I didn't buy is how carefree his parents were, if you know Indian parents you know how nosy they are! Also the ending could have been slightly better it leaves us wanting for more..may be it was meant to be that way. The movie may leave you with a slight heart ache as you feel for these characters.
