Maikol Yordan de Viaje Perdido (2014)
A very long comedy sketch
The lighthearted family comedy by "La Media Docena" is overshadowed by simplistic storytelling and stereotypical one dimensional characters.
This movie is strictly targeted to "ticos", anyone else might not be able relate or even endure the long treacherous journey.
The plot revolves around Maikol Yordan trying to save his property from being taken by a major "evil" corporation, yet Maikol lacks any meaningful development throughout the film. His only mission is to serve one liners and local humor whenever the camera centers on him, which is ninety percent of the film.
The light comedy tone helps to mask some atrocious acting that most secondary actors suffer, some of them barely make an effort to read their lines (Judge and Maikol's father) as if a teleprompter was in front of them.
It's a shame that even with some great actors such as Anabelle Ulloa (Maikol's grandmother) and the iconic comedian Adal Ramones, the film falls flat and dull.
Yet this review might be meaningless for those who watch the film, since the target audience will be satisfied with mediocre humor and fan service they are accustomed to.
