David (2013)
Please grow up Indian viewers!!!!!
It happens rarely... But whenever I watch movies like 'David' I always think that Bollywood would never improve artistically. Reason why? Well it's simple and sad to see movies like Dabangg & Ek tha Tiger or Race 2 performing on box office, while movies like David even don't get a screening in popular cineplexes. What an irony of this industry!! What a sad part!! I just finished watching David at my home theater and I am thinking to myself what if I have watched it on a big screen? It still feels great but it would have been greater. I hardly write reviews and in fact rarely on Bollywood movies as I don't follow it much now but this movie made me to right away visit here and write an honest opinion. I wanted to personally thank Bejoy Nambiar and his team as well as the whole cast for making such a masterpiece. This movie is by any standard not less then a Hollywood show, be it the story itself, the narration and twists, the acting and the most important thing of all, the Artistry of camera and lights. Honestly I haven't experienced such shots and takes in a Bollywood film before (Yeah may be a very few!). All the three stories were amazing but I would give a five star to the 1975 portion. Niel is always my fav actor due to his selection of characters and movies and he yet again did true justice to his role as a macho man. Each detail was perfect in there, it's whole environment, the sets, dresses, cars and above all how intelligently the black & white color! wow!! It gave me a true feeling of 70's.
Seriously guys, I don't have words to explain it, may be I can't find those words but I would only tell you that if you miss this movie, you are gonna miss a wonderful journey through time and artistry. I can understand that David may not impress the masses of Indian cinema but I am also sure that many deserving audience has already missed this flick due it's lack of presence in the theaters and marketing. This is a must watch for them all.
There's one more beautiful thing about this movie. It's 'Message'!! The climax is so amazing that it would leave you thinking on your seats for some time in silence and remind you of your own life decisions and errors that we make. How beautifully done Mr. Bejoy.. Thank you so much for that.. Thank you!
Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey (2010)
Remembering the HEROES
It may be not a good movie or i would say justice was not done with the production but somehow it made me to write few words for this. Why? The question is simple as well as the answer. I am always a fan of all these freedom fighters who always kept the spark. Many people consider Ghandi and Jinnah for the Indo-pak freedom but i whole heartedly believe it were the people like Surey sen, whom ideas were the main cause of todays free India and Pakistan. The list is full of heroes, whom we are proud today. Being a Pakistani i always have a great respect for all those great freedom fighters because of whom we are enjoying the independence today. Bhagat Singh, Surya sen, Bakht Khan, Mangal panday are all portrayed beautifully in the movies.
Yet an unsung hero is still to show up on a big screen, The brave Pathan freedom fighter Sher Ali Afridi who killed the Indian viceroy, Lord Miyo. This was the only unique case of killing a viceroy on Indian soil. I wish if his life story is taken in a movie depiction.
Over all the movie gives you a good feel of that times freedom struggle. I still recommend the movie as its watchable and touchy.
Guzaarish (2010)
How come this movie be a flop? People do need some brain now a days I guess!!
This movie needs no reviews. If IMDb allowed less words or a single one even, I would have wrote just "AWSOME".. and this one word explain everything.
To my surprise I was reading the box office reviews and found that the movie has badly flopped. And the only thing I could figure out that people doesn't have even mind to understand movies or to be precise, Cinema. This movie is an art in every direction, a complete movie i would say after a long time from bollywood. Be it the story, acting, music, message or direction. All the team has done a great job done and very well done.
I was never a fan of H. Roshan before this movie (even now) but the acting of this actor has proved something out of the box. It's just the face expressions in the whole movie and a very difficult job to do. Mr. Roshan if you are somehow reading this I would like to tell you that SRK doesn't even match your performance (as to my knowledge that SRK won the best actor award for My name is Khan), honestly not a bit. But awards doesn't matter or even the box office revenues too, as you have done a job that would be remembered for a long time. I hardly watch movies twice but for guzarish that's not the case. I watched it once and enjoyed the movie as a whole and on the second next day I watched it again only for roshan's acting.
I still can't believe how this movie could be a flop?? Man!! I feel sorry for the team but they should must read the critic and viewer's reviews.
Great Movie!
Man Push Cart (2005)
could be a trash! could be a masterpiece!... Depends on the viewer
Man push cart is a movie of pain and realism. People hardly watch such movies now a days and find them boring because they are sick of their real life miseries and always looking for an escape in commercial and fantasy cinema. Here in this movie you will not see any of it but only your hard facts of life in a real type movie. This is even a very different genre in movies in my personal opinion and why is that? There is no such plot in the movie. It's a naked glance on the life of our 'hero' Ahmad in this portrayal. Anyone going to watch this movie should not expect a plot here but a true slap on our cruel world of the poor. A look on poor.
This movie will hold you as long as its running and you can guess that by the reviews of the people here who even grade this movie bellow or equal to 3 and didn't liked it but still made it till the end. So it's a catchy movie which will keeps you on the seat till the end with a lot of curiosity that what will happen to Ahmad. There's pain in this movie and a lot of it. While watching this drama I really felt bad for the guy. He was taking a whole world of pain, agony, hopelessness, suffering, in his soul and you will definitely feel it while watching. And this makes it a beauty to watch and a 'job done'.
This movie could have been much better as mentioned by few reviewers here. Yeah few things would have been great, if added. The first thing, the music! As it's a movie of a singer who's fighting the hard facts of life and at times fall in the memories of his glorious past as a singer so more good music should have been added to the scenes (though the sound track used in the movie is amazingly catchy and honestly as much sad as our hero in the movie is) but still a little glance on his past life as a singer would worked. But as we believe its not a commercial movie but just a portrayal of a character in his current situation so that might be the reason. The second thing 'to do' should have been the ending of the movie. Even if it's a movie of realism there should be a spoken message for the audience as not many of the viewers will understand such endings where you leave the viewer with a loads of pain and misery that what happened to our guy? Artistically it's a perfect ending as it gives you an intellectual perspective but as I said that gotta be for the limited class and not for the whole audience.
Over all it's a type of a movie that if you don't like you would just call it a trash but if you like it then you would love it. I loved it!
Aashayein (2010)
Painful to watch a great movie
Out of the many shiny bollywood masalla action packed, brainless plots and pointless movies, here comes a treat to watch. John Abraham is getting better everyday in bollywood and I assume the day is not far when he will stand with the top line of bollywood. I don't know but he is the only actor I feel who gives a strange feeling of belongingness to the masses. Anyway ! About the movie.. It's a story of a dying man and his experiences after wards. (Full Stop! Find out the whole of it in the movie). This is a very touchy and sensitive subject and the way it was portrayed in the movie is the brilliance of the Production team. No fun intended, no typical bollywood happy-happy moments, Its a movie with hard facts and human emotions and PAIN. It's a difficult movie to watch because of the pain and hopelessness it carry. Throughout the movie you will be in pain and misery for the characters. And that credit goes to non other then John himself and the new talent portrayed in the character of Padma. They managed to transfer the agony to the viewers and that's the 'job-done'. With out a doubt this is the best ever performance by john Abraham as he himself claimed it in a TV show interview recently that people would be stunned to see the performance and they sure do! The music number 'shukrya zindagi' is very well pasted in the film at different moments when 'needed' (no pointless bollywood songs at least in this movie). And why an 8 for a movie which deserves at least 9? Yeah the Indiana Johnes segments (Dreams). This would have been a much better treat to watch without those scenes and the story should have focused more on the realities of life, but anyway still no hard feelings for a great movie. By the way this is not your weekend reliever and a pop corn flick!! As a whole it's a very serious movie and not many people would like to watch it (sorry for that John). But those who have a taste of such movies would definitely remember this one for a long time. Aashayein.. Yeah!
Resident Evil: Afterlife (2010)
These all RE movies are a disgrace to the video game
I am a die hard fan of the Resident Evil video games. I still remember the first ever part of the game when i heard about it from my friends that a game has arrived which has totally changed the whole concept of gaming. Wow!! the opening sequence of it, the game play, mysteries and the real itching horror. I still do remember all that stuff upon the first ever release of Resident Evil video game. So far, till date all of these video games has surpassed the expectations of their fans. Yet am not sure whats wrong with the movies. Why they doesn't have a real story line of the Resident Evil which is it's identity? I was so excited once i heard about the first movie back in 2002. And i watched that movie with very high expectations but to my misery the first installment turned out to be a crap. Not even touching 5% of the real game. Many people would find all these movies very entertaining but those will be the people who never played the video game and who don't know what this whole thing is all about! but I am sure that for all those RE video game lovers these movies are disasters and pain in the a**. Who the hell is Alice on the mother earth of RE?? why the main characters are'nt in the lead roles? Jill, Claire or Chriss..huh?? Though I watched all the previous 3 movies with the same expectations every time but i left disappointed thinking why did i waste my time and ruined my imaginations towards the Resident Evil subject (Yeah! RE indeed is a whole subject). This time ! I wont watch it. Never.
