Arrow: Kapiushon (2017)
Superhero, idol of youth? Rather, a super-sadist.
I could not finish watching this episode and stopped watching the series. If in the initial seasons the main character was portrayed as a heroic character with a dark past and mental trauma, then in season 5 a psychopath and a monster arose. However, traits of moral deformity also appeared in other "positive" characters. I have no desire to look at this feast of violence and meanness. Showrunners, you should be ashamed!
Night Hunter (2018)
Dean Koontz shakes his head reproachfully
It's not the worst movie I've seen in my life, but it is definitely one of the slackest in terms of script and direction. The film, of course, does not stand up to criticism in comparison with the best thrillers about the investigation of crimes of serial killers. Due to too many characters, sometimes completely superfluous, and a ragged plot, one gets the feeling that it was originally planned to shoot a mini-series, but as a result all ideas had to be "crammed" into the format of a full-length film. I was particularly perplexed by the plot twist with the twin brothers. This idea struck me as both silly and familiar. Then I remembered: there is plagiarism from Dean Koontz's novel "Whispers", first of all the fact that the twins, in fact, identify themselves as one whole. I do not believe that the screenwriter (who is also the director) invented this without reading Koontz.
Shovel Buddies (2016)
When there is dirt in the minds of the "creators"
An implausible, offensive and vulgar film glorifying sociopathy and mental instability as a kind of adolescent behavior. The image of an adult man who has lost his son, besides a policeman, who not only does not stop the lewdness of underage idiots, but also allows them to complete their idiotic and disgusting plan, is striking. When you look at such "masterpieces", you cease to be surprised that our world is rolling into the abyss. No one will be saved.
Honey Boy (2019)
Boring and stupid movie about nothing
The immoral, through and through false apologetics of self-digging, self-pity and - at the same time - self-love and self-exaltation. It is amazing that the acting in the film is at the highest level, but the mediocre directing and the flat script nullify acting efforts. I am sincerely sorry that Lucas Hedges spends his natural gift on such rubbish.
P. S. For God's sake, what does the chicken have to do with it ?!
Traumfabrik (2019)
Uplifting film
I have no regrets that I watched this film. He is bright, cheerful and memorable. This is such a rarity in our time, when in a comedy melodrama there is not a single gram of vulgarity. The plot is very curious, and in general the film is made at a fairly high level. But it seemed to me that in the script and direction there are annoying flaws - the characters are outlined very schematically. This affected the game of leading actors. The characters are quite charming, but to create a full-fledged image, the actors did not have the background of their characters, which is why some of their actions look artificially and unconvincing.
A Little Romance (1979)
Great Olivier in a "crumbling" film
The film left a complex impression. It would seem that all the components of success are obvious - charming young heroes, first love, joint adventure, wonderful acting of the legendary Laurence Olivier ... But it seemed to me that the film is too stretched, it contains a lot of unnecessary, absurd. And vice versa, what was necessary to emphasize is absent in the script. For example, it would be nice to know the real, not fictitious, life story of a strange but sincere elderly character. Or to show what the sympathy of the funny best friend of Lauren for the best friend of Daniel resulted in. The feeling that despite the considerable length of the film, some important scenes were thrown out during editing. For example, how did a boy, girl and old man get to Venice without money and baggage? How did the police find Lauren and Daniel and what was the reaction of the relatives at the meeting? Why didn't the old man go to jail after stealing money at a racetrack? How could one explain the discovery of a huge amount of money in a train compartment? I would like to give the film a higher rating - after all, there is some charm in it, but the plot is too unfinished.
In the Shadow of the Moon (2019)
Propaganda of savage killings of political opponents
Actor Boyd Holbrook seems to have the gift of acting in an ethically unacceptable movies. Recently, I was unpleasantly struck when his hero in "Predator" killed a man in front of his little son. "In the Shadow of the Moon" sins not with the insipidity of individual scenes, but with a dangerous message as a whole: kill anyone who can even theoretically pose a danger to society. A person can be a villain, no one argues, but this does not give scriptwriters the right to compare him with an experimental pig. The wild scene of a deadly experiment on defenseless animals, and then the episode with a car accident, when blood-stained pork carcasses "fly" around the van, frankly, raise doubts about the mental health of the authors of this politically biased, hysterical and at the same time arrogant movie.
Life of the Party (2018)
Worth watching because of the second half
I got the feeling that the film is "glued" from two different scenarios. The first part is so ugly that I already wanted to interrupt the viewing and put the "Life of the Party" no more than 1-2 points. But then suddenly the film "came to life", very funny and even touching moments and funny, but not stupid plot twists appeared. Melissa McCarthy is undoubtedly a talented comedic actress, but she should choose the dramatic material more strictly and especially not try to write herself.
The Predator (2018)
Mediocrity and immorality
One of the worst films I've seen lately. Disgusting "vinaigrette" of completely incompatible ingredients. An idiotic plot, a clear mockery of autists, poor acting (however, the script is so miserable, with so many vulgar jokes that you can even pity the actors), ridiculous editing (in some scenes it is not clear what is happening) ... The scene is especially disgusting, where the main character kills a man in front of a little boy. If the director's idea was to show people no less disgusting creatures than alien predators, then why did the character-child appear in the script? The film, in my opinion, is not only mediocre, but absolutely immoral.
Final Girl (2015)
It's embarrassing to be so mediocre
I expected from the film that it would be at least more or less entertaining. But this is just frank hack, mediocre and meaningless, shot as if only to wash a certain amount of money.
Die Stropers (2018)
A tragedy that did not have enough universal scale
The film clearly leaves an aftertaste, but overall disappointing. If the plot were not so deeply immersed in the problems of local residents, it would become more understandable to a wide audience. Of the advantages, I would note the psychologically accurate acting of the young debutants and the general piercing and bitter atmosphere in which the hero loses faith in himself and in justice.
Predator 2 (1990)
Illogical
The sequel to the fierce fantasy action film, popular even after more than 30 years, is a meaningless set of ridiculous scenes. Poor directing and a soulless script make the actors not play, but clown in front of the camera. The very idea of hunting people in a metropolis is not bad, but it is implemented illiterate. Why move the action seven years ahead? Why include drug gangsters in the plot? Spectators would be much more frightened if alien predators glided an invisible shadow through a modern city, deceptively safe. I'm sorry for the time spent.
