Top Boy (2011)
Why is it so hard to write a good conclusion?
As others have written, the final season felt truly rushed. I am just dumbfounded that Lizzie got away with the money and the writers seemed ok with it. The death of Dushane was perfect, it was well played out, tragic and invoked emotion. Sully survived all the mayhem and chaos of 5 seasons only to be offed by anonymous hitman. This goes to my argument of Tony Soprano not dying in the final show because Sully like Tony are the same, they are survivors in the crime game. Sully is a survivor, and a smart one, he kills the Irish mobsters in brilliant fashion. He gets out of every near death scene. Why would his guard be down, the final conflicts were internal to the gang the external threats never went away... Sully taking his daughter to class is like utopia has been achieved, far away from the burnt out remains of the high rises. Sully's guard is never down, the final scene Sully is not Sully.... If the Cohen brothers taught us anything, it is this, the bad guy can get away. I think often times main character are killed for the wrong reason, it prevents any future Top Boys.
Workin' Moms: Sophie's Choice-ish (2017)
Dog hating junk!
No one who has a dog, would put down their dog in this manner or even consider it! The entire premise is just ridiculous. I have no idea on earth who would find this the least bit humorous or entertaining. The complete lack of care at the vet, shows a complete lack of concern. She should have brought the dog home vice the collar. It was a nice twist in the end but as a dog owner, I would not just give my dog up....
They picked a perfect way to alienate every dog owner who watches their show. If my mother locked my dog outside, in a garage, etc. It would be a war! No wonder the dog bit her. And the moron husband, and his complacent attitude toward the dog just topped off a terrible episode.
Hachi: A Dog's Tale (2009)
Loyalty - Apparently has limits
This is a very good movie, a true story of loyalty but also that loyalty can go unanswered. It is truly heartwarming story, and the acting is well done. I gave it a 7 because it was a good movie, my problem is the story itself. I am not certain how true the movie is to the actual story.... After watching the movie, the opening scene is a sad indictment of the disloyalty of humans, it would laughable if it were not so sad. The young boy seems so proud to tell the story, when in my opinion he and family should be ashamed. Hachi is rewarded for his loyalty to his master by being abandoned. I understand that Hachi was stubbornly loyal, this does not mean he deserved to die alone, after spending the last 8-9 years alone each night under a train. I am sure his owner would have been infuriated by the lack of loyalty his family displayed.
The Sopranos: Watching Too Much Television (2002)
A succinct snapshot of the entire series
This episode takes you up, then snaps you back to reality. In the ongoing story that Adrianna has fallen into an FBI trap, she falls for a 'law and order' moment and believes a wife cannot be forced to testify against her husband. Adrianna drops a bombshell on Christopher while going down the path to marriage, and true to form, he explodes. Adrianna unknowingly misses that the only true way out of the FBI trap is thwarted by Tony and Silvio convincing Christopher that she is the best thing in his life, and Christopher agreeing to stay with Adrianna. We see Christopher's love shines through, but this love seals Adrianna's fate.
Tony makes a great deal that makes him and his partners a lot of money at the expense of others, and outwardly he seems very pleased with his ill gained success at the expense of the taxpayer. With every reason to be happy, it still eludes him and his underlying sadness returns manifesting itself into easily one of the most brutal beatings of the entire series.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine: Ding Dong (2020)
Brooklynn Nine Nine in perfect form
This episode is solid comedy, and classic Nine Nine. I cannot get into the details because I do not want to spoil it. I will keep it simple, I just finished watching it and I cannot stop laughing. You will not be disappointed!
Lost in Space (2018)
Fundamentally Stupid
Mere words cannot explain how stupid this series is. I have not watched the original. I love a good sci-fi, be it a movie or a series. Netflix's Lost in Space had potential, it is visually stunning, but the writers must have jumped ship from the Disney Network for kids. I stopped at S01E05, I tried to give it a second go, but it is just terrible. These morons would not survive a trip to a public garden, never mind getting lost in space.... Endless stupid mistakes like one reviewer wrote that could be avoided if they just used their brain. The scene with the fuel spillage, an attempt by the writers to elicit some type of "do the right thing" feeling when in real life the Robinson's would have one less member of the family after "doing the wrong thing". It is painful, and ignore all the idiotic 9-10s. 9, 10 is reserved for quality and this show despite its very impressive visuals is lucky I gave it 2. Utter junk....
Abducted in Plain Sight (2017)
Some People Are Not Meant to Have Children
This movie is the like a train wreck, over and over, it is hard to believe there are people out there so fundamentally stupid and yet here they are. I have watched documentaries that were difficult, but this makes "Capturing the Friedmans" seem minor in comparison. It is truly disturbing how manipulative and devious peophiles really are, and in this case most of it was in plain sight. Prepare to be infuriated, and you may just end up yelling expletives at the screen.
The Walking Dead: How It's Gotta Be (2017)
stupid pills
I held off watching the mid season finale, somehow I knew what was going to happen... utter and complete stupidity. After 6+ seasons we have characters who outsmart everyone, yes some tragic missteps along the way but this is unbelievable! Rick and company are now the cast of stupid and lost in the woods, falling for the most idiotic traps laid by people who are equally as stupid! One of my favorite shows has been reduced to utter crap. Is the graphic novel which is based upon as stupid as this? I agree with the other poster, how could Negan and company mount such a coordinated attack after almost being destroyed... implausible. And while I enjoy Negan per se, a single bullet would solve all this. And so far it cannot be explained why he has not been killed... maybe we need to bring in Bob Lee Swagger to get it done.
