The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent (2022)
It was fun
The movie isn't going to win any awards but it will give you a few laughs and will entertain. If you're not a fan of Nicolas Cage you might not understand some of the references, but I don't think it will stop you from having a good time. Give it a shot.
The Batman (2022)
A solid Batman movie
It's been a long time since we've had a Detective Comics Batman. Lately Hollywood has tried putting batman against world level threat events but that's not where Batman shines, it's smaller threats that Batman can handle one on one. The Batman does an admirable job of trying to recreate this. Robert Pattison does an adequate job as the dark knight, however his portrayal as Bruce Wayne might put some people off, however if you picture his performance as a young Bruce who is consumed with his anger over his parents' death (as opposed to an older Bruce who has accepted it and uses it as a source of strength to stick to his morals) then it works, sort of. Paul Dano was great. His portrayal of The Riddler is way darker than any we've seen but Dano pulls off this version. Colin Farrell's version of Penguin was also a highlight however he seemed underused. The rest of the cast is passable in their roles. Direction and cinematography are well done. Definitely worth a watch however I'm not sure it's worth a second viewing (at least in theatres). Without the fun of watching Batman trying to solve the mystery I imagine with a second viewing you're going to feel the long run time.
Invincible (2021)
Near perfection
An outstanding show. The voice acting is superb. The writing is very good and characters are engaging and personable. Many complain about the gore, violence and language but this show has a mature rating for a reason. This show is NOT for kids. While there is a sprinkle of wokeness it is not heavy handed and does not interfere with the overall story.
The Masked Singer (2019)
Nick Cannon did not get fired from hosting this show
Fox changed their mind so why watch a show that hires bigots?
Boogie, el aceitoso (2009)
Over the top violence gets old fast, and that's all this movie has
The writing in this movie is terrible. It's like it was written by a demented 12 year old. The only thing worse is the voice acting. The title character (Boogie the Oily One) is a psychopath who is also a gun for hire set in a world that couldn't possibly exist. It's like setting a movie in Los Santos from Grand Theft Auto 5. The story? You're not watching this for the story so let's skip it. Every scene is just a new setting for Boogie to deal out excessive (and I do mean excessive) violence to, well, everybody. The problem is Boogie has no redeeming qualities and since no one is else is likable so you don't care about anyone, and when you don't care you don't become invested and you get bored. The animation style is passable but nothing memorable. I'm sure there's a niche market with low enough standards that would enjoy this, for everyone else: skip it.
