Oppenheimer (2023)
I don't get the hype.
I really cannot see the appeal of this movie. Sure it's an important history lesson and the quality of cast cannot be criticized.
However the vision of the movie, the presentation, is all wrong.
It is presented to us like an extended trailer, with dramatic music playing throughout the dialogue.
This is off putting to say the least as we struggle to hear the conversations. Dialogue to music balance is way off. Music too loud, dialogue too soft.
Sorry guys, it's boring.
This should have been so much better than it is. Everything is wrong, but my biggest complaint is the music constantly played over dialogue.
Island of Bryan (2019)
Cannot stand these people
Why does anyone watch this trash. He used to be ok when he was helping people fix mistakes. Now it's all 'look at me and how rich I am.' That awful spoilt b**** Sarah is unbearable. She has the sort of face you want to slap. So full of herself.
Show is soooo obviously scripted. They don't help people any more. It is just about themselves and how spoilt they are.
I think the world has had enough of Bauemler and his bloody family. Please, please cancel the show. Sarah should be called Karen by the way. I can imagine she is unbearable to work with.
Stop them ramming their wealth down our throats. She is almost as bad as the other Sarah (Richardson)
CSI: Cyber (2015)
Worst of the CSI franchise
I must admit that I didn't have much hope of this turning out to be watchable, but I gave it a chance. Sadly I was proved to be correct. It was mega awful. Personally I think the CSI franchise is played out. CSI Miami is okay, because it's funny to watch Caruso hamming it up. CSI Los Vegas is okay, but the story lines and action are very contrived. (Oh look, there's a clue) CSI Cyber however is Bad, contrived, stupid, poorly directed, badly acted, unrealistic and so not entertaining. Let us count the ways that this show is bad. I won't be watching it any more. Quite often you have to give a show time to develop, but that is not the case here. There is nowhere for it to go and can't possibly get any better with this quality of screen play.
The Great Gatsby (2013)
Very stylish
I don't care what anyone says, Baz Lurhmann is one of today's greatest directors. This is a stylish and well acted movie which never disappoints. There are echos of Moulin Rouge here, you just can't help but notice. I am not a big fan of DiCaprio, but here he is perfectly cast and really seems to get the character. Believe it or not I had never seen the original movie, so I had to sit down and take it in one evening. Almost the same screenplay, but throughout it left me wanting the 2013 cast. Redford in contrast to DiCaprio, did not seem to get the character and looked uncomfortable throughout. Mia Farrow as Daisy was just plain awful! So, the 2013 movie is certainly an excellent version of the novel. The scene where you first see Daisy is just wonderful.
The Following (2013)
Soooo Irritating
This must be the most annoyingly irritating TV series I have ever watched. I find myself getting really annoyed with the ridiculous incompetence of the entire FBI and police departments, while the aggravatingly smug serial killer reigns supreme. You just find yourself wanting to really slap the characters and tell them to get on with it. For one thing, this guy would be so locked down in jail that he would have no contact with his followers at all, and surely the best way of stopping the entire thing is to execute him. Isn't he on death row anyway. The worse thing for me, is that there is no perceived resolution. If the situation is resolved, then the series is over. This means that you just know that it will go on forever. There is just no satisfaction in this.
Little Dorrit (1987)
Expensive disaster
When I first saw the cast list of the two movie 1988 Little Dorrit, I was really excited and expecting a sumptuous feast of Dickens. What I got however was dreadful. In fact I would go as far to say that it was the worst historical drama I have seen on the screen. Worst ever screenplay Worst ever direction. The music is completely incongruous and sometimes played so loud that it drowns out the actors. In fact all the sound levels are totally off. Dreadful, dreadful acting in some places that even the likes of Alec Guinness cannot rise above. I would imagine that he cringed when he watched this for the first time. The lead character of Sarah Pickering playing Little Dorrit could not act if her head was on fire. It's embarrassing. It is amateur hour really and a very expensive waste of great actors like Jacobi and Guinness. Terrible limited sets that kept cropping up throughout. I mean, how many times can they use the bridge scene. I sat through the whole lot, but this movie is only fit for one thing, DELETION...
