Hit and Run (2021)
When Doron Becomes Jack Bauer
Hit and Run was an entertaining show. Its like Doron continues from Fauda and now engages in a 24 like spy story (no terrorism).
Lior Raz's character not changing is good and bad. If you are a fan of Fauda, and miss the show, its fun to watch. But it also makes it really predictable. Its the same aggressive, reckless, over ambitious character in a different story setting.
Worth the watch, but dont expect the depth and quality of Fauda.
This Is 40 (2012)
Okay movie, if you nothing else to watch
The plot was promising. Those aged around 40 can relate to it. But there is no proper story and no finish whatsoever. Struggles in the life of a young family filled with humor, stupidity.
But at the end of the day you will forget what happened in this movie in just 1 or 2 days-maybe other than the thoughts of a challenging 40's.
Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019)
Quite good but over dramatic
Clearly the movie was designed to be very similar to modern Hollywood war movies. But perhaps the high score has more to do with patriotic sentiments than the quality of the film. Sometimes over dramatic, unrealistic-which is great to thrill unsophisticated audience; but not for artistic value. Could have been a lot better, acting is average, plot is interesting, told fairly well.
The Gift (2015)
A Soft Thriller
The gift is what you would call a soft thriller. It will not put fear in your mind, it will not make you bite your nails, it probably wont have you hooked either. It falls in the genre of movies where things climax or unfold towards the end. And once that happens you are not greatly moved or affected but you realize you ve just watched a pretty good movie.
The movie has a slow, patient buildup, profiling a couple who have moved to a new town. It slowly builds their characters, and brings stories from their past. With every minute the story starts unfolding.
Pretty good acting from the three main actors. Worth the watch on a slow boring weekend.
Phantom (2015)
Don't trust the low rating
I was a little apprehensive about watching this given its low rating. Then i checked some of the reviews and decided to give it a go. This is a reasonably good movie. It reminded me of the TV Show 24. Parts of the movie had that type of suspense and kept you on the edge.
Definitely not the best acting or script. Saif doesn't quite fit the role, nor does Katrina. Neither do they do anything to develop a strong character. Some parts are a bit cheesy or predictable. But then again you get the same with Jack Bauer and 24.
Don't trust the low rating. Its much better than that. Perhaps people who didn't like the plot dragged the score down by rating 0s.
