Glitch (2015)
Good Show and Season 3 is not as bad as Others are Saying
Not a great show by any means but I still enjoyed it. GLITCH is easy enough to get through at 18 total episodes and it's an interesting story with good characters and actors. I see many other reviewers here saying how awful the third season is and I almost didn't watch it based on what I read here. But I did watch it, and while the third season has some definite problems it's actually the most action-packed and tension filled season. I think some viewers didn't react well to season three because it doesn't end real well for the characters we've been grown to care about. There are other problems with season three that warrant criticism, but I think if you watch the show and enjoy seasons one and two then you should finish it out. I am glad I did. Overall I found the show engaging and interesting even though you could sense the writers struggling early on to find a sensical narrative for everything that was happening. As long as you don't overanalyze and don't expect perfect answers, the show is worth a watch. And I do think the writers tried to explain things and wrap up the story in a satisfactory way. Their efforts are evident and they did a reasonable job of not leaving too much up to the imagination. And GLITCH succeeds in more ways than it fails. If the show sucked I would not have stuck around to the end.
Quarry (2016)
Excellent Show! Why was it Canceled???
What a pleasant surprise this show is. It was recommended to me by a friend who is a fan of the Quarry novels. I have read one of the Quarry books (the first one in the series) and it was nothing like this show. The show focuses on the origin story of Quarry, which was not covered in the book I read. Maybe this material is covered in other Quarry books? Regardless, the show stands on its own. No knowledge of the Quarry character needed to dive right into this series. I opened my review calling the show a "pleasant surprise," but the show itself is anything but pleasant. This is a dark, gritty, and unsettling show about a soldier returning home from Vietnam trying to find his way in society, who ultimately ends up involved with the wrong people. I thought the Quarry novel I read was just OK but this show is gripping from beginning to end. Extremely well done television and one of the better shows I've seen in recent years. I was very disappointed to find out the show was canceled after one season. What were they thinking? This is a show that deserves to keep telling its story.
