K.G.F: Chapter 2 (2022)
A masterpiece
KGF is what you get when a highly motivated team gets to work and it shows up on the screen. Yash (Rocky) delivers a performance of a lifetime in this magnus opus and is ably supported by the surrounding characters - three cheers to Shrinidhi Shetty (Reena) who debuted with the KGF series.
Technically this is just top-notch stuff and I wouldn't be suprised if it ends up winning most of this year's awards. A special note to the BGM scorer (Ravi Basrur) who has composed like a man possessed! Cinematography is excellent by Bhuvan Gowda and the art sets by Shiva Kumar is outstanding - again, how did they achieve all this in such a feeble budget?
K.G.F: Chapter 1 (2018)
Extraordinary experience
KGF has exceeded the enormous expectations it had built up following the trailer release. Fantastic job by the director Prashanth Neel, his crew of top-notch experts. Screen presence of Yash is delightful to watch.
Om (1995)
Excellent and a cult classic
I know the term 'cult classic' is being thrown around like hell, but if there's any movie deserving to be actually called one - it's Upendra's "Om" The leads Shivaraj Kumar and Prema's terrific performances, Upendra's genial director skills, Hamsalekha's music, Raj Kumar's voice and the cinematographer's raw treatment of the frames everything melts splendidly into this behemoth of a film called Om.
Mufti (2017)
Damn good performances
Mufti exceeded our expectations! Loved the simple yet powerful storyline, all actors'performance especially Shivanna, Murali and Devaraj's surprisingly terrific looks. The parts about the lead's love interest and the accompanying comedy bits should've been edited away, but it's excusable. Special mention goes to Ravi Basrur's BGM!
Upendra (1999)
Watch it and get ready to be blown away!
The other reviewers have already done justice in praising "Upendra" the director and the film, especially the one who said this movie made them change the way they viewed the world - believe me, that person isn't alone! I think it made a whole generation of ours to do the same. Only Upendra could envision this monster of a movie and actually pull it off! Kudos to him. If you haven't watched it yet I cannot recommend this one highly enough. Go for it, last I checked it's available for free viewing on YouTube.
Jackie (2010)
An engrossing movie that surpasses expectations
I went to this movie on the first day with bare minimum expectations of a Puneeth Rajkumar film. And boy, was I in for a surprise! This tightly screen-played film keeps you on the edge of your seat, while the technicalities are sure to blow you away. Have watched it 4 times now, and intend to make the count to half-a-dozen at the earliest.
The story is simple enough, that of a young chap trying to make a quick buck by whatever chances he gets. Life takes a sudden turn for him as he's held responsible for the local girl who goes missing overnight. The rest of the story is how he tracks the girl. Director Soori's presentation is to lauded for making the perfect commercial cinema with his trusted team consisting of Satya Hegde, Deepu S Kumar and Shashidhar Adapa. Yograj Bhat's quirky lyrics are just the icing on the cake.
